Alec didn’t mean to sleep with the show’s judge. Oops. But now that he’s had a taste, he’s craving more. Too bad the rules are no dating the talent. Maybe it’s for the best. He’s in L.A. for a reason, and it’s not just to charm Daisy off her apron. He needs her help. Even if she’s furious with him. Even if she thinks he lied. Even if she says she’s done. Because when Alec wants something—or someone—he can be very, very sweet. And this time? He knows exactly what he wants.
Such a sweet read. Opinionated, strong, independent, intelligent hard working baker. With a drive to be better and stronger. After Daisy realizes her bf cheated, she meets Alec and the chemistry is explosive.
When she realizes he was a contestant on the show she was judging… everything changes.
The dynamic shifts, but the way they find there HEA is epic. such a Sweet read.
A one night stand heats up the kitchen in book 2 of the Sunshine Pier series by Sierra Lewis. This One Night Delight envelops readers into the world of competition baking, forbidden love, and attraction that cannot be ignored. Sierra does a fantastic job in layering in humor, heat, and scandal, making this book enjoyable from beginning to end.
When Daisy and Alec meet, the situation could not have been funnier. Daisy has been hurt by a cheating ex and is out for revenge. Alec can’t believe who he runs into, a very well known baker who is up to no good. As they talk and spend the evening together, the attraction between them builds and builds. Thinking they would never see each other again, they are shocked to find themselves working on the same baking show together. Daisy a celebrity judge and Alec a contestant. Let the games begin!
Daisy is a layered character throughout the book. She starts out vulnerable and willing to share things, yet once she realizes who Alec is, she leans into being the hardcore judge that can’t seem to be pleased. Alec is a show favorite and quickly wins over fans and viewers. The more these two are around each other, the easier it was for some of the facades they have created to fall. I think most female readers will be able to relate to Daisy and having to grow thick skin. She comes across shut off, but really she is keeping herself controlled and trying to not let the constant critique rule her.
Sierra truly made these two the perfect match. Both are willing to work hard for what they want. Alec is able to break through some of the walls Daisy has built, which allows him to support and lift her up. While set in the LA Hawks universe, it is truly a separate book and series that Sierra has created. I loved watching these two push and pull, with their witty banter, and sweet chemistry that is easy to feel. Definitely a sweet treat that I enjoyed immensely.
As always, review any author notes before reading.
What to Expect: 🧁Forbidden Love 💚Enemies to Lovers 🧁Show Judge x Show Contestant 💚Baking TV Show 🧁LA Hawks Universe 💚He Falls First 🧁ONS to More
This book was so cute! After the worst day of her life, Daisy couldn’t believe someone pulled up on her vandalizing her cheating (fake) ex-boyfriend’s car! Alec was astonished to find the famous chef covered in buttercream committing a felony.
After talking Daisy (who gave him a fake name) into taking a ride share to get home, he thought that would be the end of their night together. The ride share driver wanted nothing to do with allowing an icing-covered passenger. Alec offered her a ride to his house so she could shower, change into some clean clothes, and call another ride share.
The chemistry between the two was so palpable that they spent the entire night together. Daisy snuck out thinking she would never see her one-night stand again…That afternoon she was appalled to see that Alec was a contestant on the baking show she judged!
Daisy wanted nothing to do with him on the show and leaned into her villain judge role. The problem is, after her public breakup was caught by paparazzi, she needed to upgrade her image quickly. Her PR team suggested getting the most likable competitor on the show to start talking her up…that competitor was, of course, Alec.
I love Daisy because I can relate to a strong, capable woman whose opinion is often perceived/portrayed as a cold b-tch. I related to how she had internalized the opinions of others until she believed it herself.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves good banter and a strong FMC in their contemporary romances!
Daisy is a pastry chef, known for being brutal and honest, and about to be on a tv show called baking with the stars. After a disasterous event, she is caught in a not totally legal position by a devastating handsome man, who seems to be a lawyer. Somehow she manages to talk herself out of legal options, and spend the night with the guy thinking she will never see him again. Little did she expect for the "lawyer" to pop up as a contestant on the show.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars because i had some issues with reading in third person, it usually goes fine but for some reason i had difficulties keeping track of who said what and from whos kind of perspective I was reading from. But otherwise, this is a really good romcom! I love how badass Daisy is, and i love how she get softer, or show her softer side as time progresses. And Alec is so not what i expected! He is really so witty but somehow sad-ish or dark-ish, i dont really know how to describe him other than a golden retriever with spunk and a heart of gold. And as always with Sierra, the people around the main characters are all written in a way that you get to know them even if they are in the background. All the annoying ones, the funny ones, the loving ones and the cocky ones. One huge family💕
I can recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cooking contests, spice and a enjoyable romantic story.
What happens when you find the one person that sees the real you?
One Night (Disaster) Delight is the latest book in the Sunshine Pier Love Stories series and is one that you will fall in love with.
If you’ve read the first book then you already know Alec, and now, you’ll get to see even more. He is loyal, kind, has put his family before himself, and is finally looking for his own happiness.
Daisy is a famous chef and a judge on the baking show Alex is a contestant on. She is known for her straight forward opinions, being a little mean, and has just had a public blow up in a big way. She doesn’t expect to walk onto set and find Alec waiting.
Their story is fun, emotional, and will have you hooked from the beginning. Their banter and chemistry along with the ease they bring each other will have you falling in love with them. Alex sees Daisy for who she is but can Daisy truly believe his perspective?
As you read, you’ll get all the things you expect from a Sierra Lewis novel: fun, laughter, moments that have you in tears, and moments that make you want to cheer for these characters.
Come back to Sunshine Pier and read along as Alec and Daisy discover that sometimes disaster can be a delight.
Daisy Duke is a celebrity pastry chef and she’s having the most disastrous evening when she meets Alec. It’s her birthday, she had to bake her own cake and she’s found out her boyfriend of 2 yrs is cheating. She’s tearing up her ex’s car when Alec pulls into the garage and bears witness to the massacre. Their banter borderline flirting is hilarious which results in a steamy one night together. It’s only the next day when Daisy finds out that Alec is one of the new contestants on her baking show - complicated is an understatement! Love how Alec was an absolute golden retriever, exactly what Daisy needed in her life, not the lousy family she has in her Stepsister- man did she make me angry!! This book was delicious, just like the tarts Alec makes!
I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own.
Absolutely delightful! Daisy and Alec are so much fun with their banter and flirting.
When they first meet, Daisy is in the process of vandalizing her cheating ex boyfriend’s car. He talks her down and takes her to his place to clean up. They end up spending a steaming night together, only to find out he is a contestant on the baking show she is a judge on.
Alec was all gold retriever energy, and when they needed someone to talk Daisy up after her incident hit the paparazzi, he was all in. The way Daisy let out her softer side when they were together was sweet. The chemistry between them was hot!
Once again, Sierra manages to capture every facet of human relationships and behaviors in the best way.
We have Daisy, who went through so much in the first few years of her life which inevitably shaped the way she connects to people and the way people connect to her. Enter Alec, who turns Daisy's world upside down even though she can't fully commit to him 100% because of her upbringing and what she always thought to believe about herself.
This is a cozy read, with lots of spice, swoon-worthy moments and Alec's biceps!
Than you Sierra for the gifted ARC, all opinions are my own
Book 2 in the Sunshine Pier Love Stories Series LA Hawks Hockey Universe Spinoff Daisy and Alec's Story
Daisy is a baking star, Alec is the hot one night stand. Oh Daisy is also part of a hit baking tv show and guess who happens to be a contestant on the show, yep Alec. Daisy isn't going to let that stand in her way, though. She knows what she wants and she has worked too hard to get where she is now. However, Alec is willing to work just as hard to get her.
Cute story that was an easy read! Fun to get lost in with laughs and sassy banter.
