Her past has always haunted her. Now it’s hunting her.
I’ve always studied strangers’ faces, searching for a reflection of myself. Being adopted, I learned to look for resemblances. To find something connected to my birth.

But someone found me first.

An anonymous note DON’T TRUST HIM.
A car follows me home.
A woman who looks like me claims things that can’t possibly be true.

Then a gun appears. And I learn everything I believed about my life is a lie.

I built my world around family—my husband, my brother, my nephew. Now the people I trust most may be the ones trying to destroy me.

One thing is certain. Someone knows the truth about who I really am. And they’ll kill to keep it buried.

ARC Review
Almost Found by Mira Shaw, Jenny Maloney
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sabrina (Bri) has spent her entire life searching for pieces of herself. As an adoptee, she’s always studied strangers’ faces, looking for familiar features, something that might connect her to her biological parents. That longing for answers is woven into who she is. But when anonymous notes appear, a car begins following her, and a woman who looks eerily like her steps into her life, the search for truth turns into something far more dangerous.

Bri has built her world around the people she trusts most, her husband, her brother, her nephew, and the bakery she lovingly runs. On the surface, everything feels stable and secure. But beneath that calm exterior, secrets are shifting. And when the cracks begin to show, they shatter everything she thought she knew about her life.

This story is a true roller coaster. The tension builds steadily, and just when you think you’ve figured something out, another twist knocks you sideways. The villain is incredibly sneaky, and the psychological tension keeps you second-guessing every character. It’s especially chilling watching Bri realize that the people closest to her may not be who they seem.

What I loved most was how emotionally grounded the story felt. Bri isn’t just running from danger, she’s unraveling her identity piece by piece. The pacing is sharp, the surprises are wild, and the final reveals are completely worth the ride.

If you love thrillers filled with long-buried secrets, unreliable trust, and edge-of-your-seat tension, Almost Found absolutely delivers.

Well worth the read.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mira Shaw and Jenny Maloney for my advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

This story is just the most current secret that is about to come to light and may destroy people's lives. "ALMOST FOUND" by Mira Shaw and Jenny Maloney is the third installment in "The Final Chapter Book Club" series. This is a tense and emotional story about surviving the past and present. The plot grows steadily until it grips you with its twists and turns, leading to a chilling climax. Each installment reveals the secrets of a different book-club member. This time, it's Sabrina Kane, owner of Bri’s Bakes and Cakes (and restaurant). This story is so good from start to finish; it's hard to put down for even a few minutes. The characters aren't perfect; like real people, they have flaws, but you'll still want to be friends with them.

Sabrina has built a life full of hope and love—her bakery, her marriage, and the supportive friends she's made through the Final Chapter Book Club. Now she's agreed to let her nephew stay with her while his parents are out of the country, but before picking him up at the airport, she finds a note that says "DON'T TRUST HIM." But who is "him"? Who could they mean? It couldn't be her husband; they love each other. It couldn't mean her nephew; she hasn't even picked him up yet. So who should she fear or even trust? This is when her life starts to unravel.

There are actually two mysteries in this entertaining book. Clara, an island recluse, is looking for her daughter. Then there's the stalker she first noticed at the airport. Are these two mysteries connected, or just happening at the same time? Read on to solve them.

I really liked that the lost families were reunited, adding a certain satisfaction to this page-turner. I received an ARC of this book from the author, and the above ismy voluntary and honest review.

Bri has spent her life studying strangers' faces looking for pieces of herself, trying to find a connection to her biological family. When she receives an anonymous note saying "Don't trust him," she isn't sure who the "him" could be - her loving lawyer husband, one of her employees, or her brother who is leaving his teenage son with her so he can go work halfway around the world? Realizing that she was followed from the airport by a silver Malibu doesn't make her feel any more secure. Then she receives another note, claiming that her husband is having an affair and has a baby on the way with her. This time, Bri catches the woman on her bakery's camera.

I absolutely LOVED this! This was my first book in this series so they can easily be read as stand alones (although I will probably go back and read the others). It is told from multiple POVs and, while the chapters aren't labeled with whose POV it is, you can determine it within the page. This is a captivating story that had me hooked early. I love books that can surprise me and this one did!

To start the cover is great. It definitely was a draw knowing it was a psychological thriller.

This becomes a very unique plot idea with a mix of characters you’ll love and hate. A fast paced quick read that has quite the surprising twist at the end.

I liked the setting on an island off Georgia. The book hooks you at the start with the FMC being followed from the airport across the bridge to the island, you know there’s going to be some shady business.

You have two mysterious story lines happening with the island recluse searching for her daughter and the stalker from the start that keeps you wondering and waiting for an intersection.

The ending brings closure but also leaves room for another book with some of the characters returning.

I read this book as part of an ARC team.
Wow, this was a thrill ride that just kept getting better and better. People who are lost and those who lost them always look for each other. There is a connection that just can't be broken by time and distance. This book captures the search. I love the strong characters and the villain is very, very sneaky. You get pulled in and if you're not careful you will miss the clues. When you are being hunted by people you trust it is easy to fall for their lines. Sabrina is a strong character, and she methodically unravels the clues but there is one more villain that she doesn't suspect. Well worth the read. This series of books is just downright good.

I am an ARC member, and this is my honest review.

This is the 3rd book in the Final Chapter Book Club Series, and it did not disappoint. From the very first page until the end, the story grabs you. Sabrina Kane was adopted but has always wondered who her parents were and is always looking at new people she comes across for any similarities. Her nephew comes to stay with Sabrina and her husband while his father and new wife travel overseas for work. The action starts with a note "Don't Trust Him" but who is him? From this point on, it is one twist and turn after another with revelations that shock Sabrina, but the final shock was the biggest (and worst in my opinion). I definitely advise readers to put aside a few hours to read this story because you will not want to put it down!!

I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book. The biggest problem was not being able to put it down!!!

First of all I love the realistic setting of the book. Having spent a good deal of time in southern GA and SC I could picture exactly where the story was set.

References to characters in prior books (which I also loved) were a welcome treat. I also appreciate the short chapters as it makes it easy to put down when real life calls you.

Great storyline, twists and turns until the end, likable (and some very unlikable) characters who I felt invested in. Loved that the ending wasn’t wrapped up in a few paragraphs.

All in all a truly wonderful read!!

I liked that Almost found thriller builds up tension from the page one and the chapters switch the characters. It’s very interesting. Bri’s life changes and it’s turned upside down just with one note. Who is wrecking her life? Whom she will trust? The game starts and we are put on the edge, barely holding on. What love and deception can do? Nobody seems to believe her. It made me feel hopeless and terrified. Mira’s amazing writing made me think about real world troubles, morality and trust. I admire the way the characters develop. Bri and Clara will stay with me for a long time. Thank you for the special time in your fantasy world Mira.

Sabrina lives on Whisper Island and owns a bakery. She always dreamed of being a baker having learned to cook to be able to eat as she grew up. Her adopted parents lawyers, busy and absent. She was always searching for features like hers hoping to find her birth parents.
Oliver, Sabrina's husband was a lawyer also and busy, many late nights. Sabrina didn't realize his late nights were being spent with another woman.
Until the other woman begins leaving her notes, and she finds out the other woman is pregnant and Oliver is dangerous. When a gun appears the danger turns scary!
This new book the 3rd in a series is wonderful. I will be reading it again

From start to finish Almost Found grabs you and you can’t put it down. Sabrina (Bri) has been looking for her biological parents forever. Watching & checking features, comparing them to herself, constantly hoping for confirmation someday. Although married to a lawyer, she’s the owner/head baker of her own shop and is extremely happy. Her nephew has come to stay with them while his dad & new wife travel overseas for work. Although everything seems to be working out, there are undercurrents getting ready to strike. And strike they will, but not in the best way.

The premise of this series is that a different person from the book club is featured in each book. The main character of this book is Sabrina (Bri) and she owns a bakery. Please note that the book club is rarely mentioned in this book. However, this book is the most unputdownable of the 3. Out of the books I was reading this week, this was the one I most wanted to be reading. It starts off with Bri receiving a warning note and being followed and gets more wild from there. Was everything 100% realistic? Probably not, but not near as outlandish as many other thrillers. The romance and spice in this one was pretty low.

Great book!! What a great addition to the Final Chapter Book Club. The story flowed seamlessly, with crazy surprises all along the way. The characters were so well developed that you could feel the emotions that they were feeling. I can't stop shaking my head at some of the unbelievable things that occurred. Would love for the storyline to continue with these particular characters. Very enjoyable book!!

This was my favorite of the three stories I have read in this series. It pulled you in from the start and never let you go till the end. It has lots of twist and turns, suspense, mystery, and a very surprising ending. I would recommend this whole series to anyone who enjoys these aspects of the story. I can’t wait to see what else these two authors will bring us next.

I received a complementary ARC and I’m leaving an honest and voluntary review.

Almost Found! A MUST READ!!!

Received ARC

WOW 😮!! This is the best of all of Mira Shaw’s books yet!! The twist at the end with the attack was entirely unsuspected. AND what happens to the real villain in the last paragraphs was sooo perfect. As well as finding out the truth about the car accident; EPIC!!!

Crazy.good

This story twisted and turned all the way till the end. The characters in the book are so real and some are evil but masquerading as good people. So many times, I thought I had it figured out but the next page I didnt. This is a book that can easily be read in one sitting be cause you just have to know what comes.next.

Another great book in The Final Chapter Book Club series. Sabrina is a very woman and is able to figure out many of the things that are happening to her, but misses a big threat until it is almost too late.

The book is full of mystery and several twists and turns and I can hardly wait for the next book in the series.

Money and murder and adoptions and long-lost families and baked goods and this incredible Whisper Island! Dang this series is so good!! I loved how Sabrina, Kitty, and Clara’s stories intertwined through this novel, and had tears at the ending. So many twists! So much intrigue! Another terrific read.

Loved this novel! The characters are real and deep. I enjoyed watching Sabrina unfold and find strength she didn't know she had. I admired her ability to see good in others and still be an optimist even when things were going terribly wrong. This story is about growth, stuckness, finding family and the different faces of evil. A wonderful read!!!! I can't wait for the next book in the series.

The better of the three

"Almost Found" moved me emotionally more than the previous two Book Club episodes. Clara, Kitty, and Bri finding their lost family and all that led up to it was a page turner. I read the ARC in one day. Thank you, Mira and Jenny. NEXT!!!

Sabrina, the local bakery owner has her nephew coming to stay with her while his dad is out of the country.. on the drive to the airport she notices a car that appears to be following her. On the drive back to her home, with her nephew he notices a car likely following them….its the same car she saw earlier. She soon spots a note in the bakery telling her not to trust him, and no indication of who “him” is. Things really begin to go downhill for Sabrina at this point. This is a fast paced story with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing throughout the book.
