The fate of the empire will be decided in fire and blood.

From the moment she was born, Kai Lin was meant to bond with a dragon. But when the long-awaited Ceremony of Oaths goes horribly wrong, everything she thought she knew is shattered. Betrayed and hunted, she flees into the unknown, seeking the one who can help her unlock the power buried deep within.

Kai must master her abilities, but as her power grows, so does the threat of the Drakka—a ruthless force of creatures determined to bring the empire to its knees. She must rally her allies for a battle that will decide the fate of the empire.

Richard Fierce is a fantasy author with a passion for storytelling that dates back to his childhood. He first ventured into publishing in 2007 and hasn’t looked back since. His books are filled with dragons, adventure, and the kind of epic journeys that transport readers to new worlds.

In 2000, Richard was named Poet of the Year for his poem The Darkness, and his love for literature extends beyond just writing—he co-founded the Acworth Book Festival in Georgia to help bring authors and readers together. Though he originally worked in retail, he eventually transitioned to the tech industry, balancing his career with his writing.

Richard lives in Northwest Georgia with his family and a lively mix of pets, including four dogs (huskies!). He often jokes that his house feels like a zoo, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.

His love for fantasy started in high school when he was gifted a copy of Dragons of Spring Dawning by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman—a book that sparked a lifelong love for dragons and epic quests.

Whether he’s writing about dragon riders, lost civilizations, or ancient prophecies, Richard Fierce continues to craft stories that pull readers into unforgettable adventures.

I usually approach self-published books with hesitation - they are usually not very well written. This one was interesting - it’s 3 books in one, although they are all so short that it was only 6 hours of audio for all 3. Way too short for good story development.

The plot moved along at a really fast pace, which was kind of a shame because the world-building really suffered. The evil creatures are so vaguely written that I have no idea what they even look like. They are supposedly dragons who didn’t accept some ancient treaty, so they are corrupted. That would imply they are somewhat dragon-shaped, right? But they have arms and use swords, so I guess they are humanoid? No idea.

Book 1 was actually pretty good, but 2 was pretty laughable and 3 was just rushed. Some elder dragon (again, in the shape of a human) sends Kai on these quests to obtain magical items, and there’s no struggle or tension as she achieves her goals. The quests take about 10 minutes of audio (a couple of pages?) to complete, and boom! Kai has these magical objects that help her win every battle and single-handedly defeat hordes of evil creatures.

Anyway, it was a valiant effort, and the writing wasn’t bad, but it definitely needs flushing out to make a decent book.

Whole series:2.5 stars
This book was way to short should have been longer and more fleshed out.
-The Chosen: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was a good start I was interested in the characters and the twist at the end.
Acolyte:⭐️⭐️
This book gave me Rey from starwars vibes. The main character levels up and trains. She basically learns everything she needs to know about dragon bonding and gains an large amount of power in just a few weeks.
The Sworn: ⭐️
This was such a rushed ending. The FMC was very overpowered and overcame all obstacles very easily, and saved the empire in like 30 pages.
This whole series was way too rushed and should have been more than 250pgs. Trying to create a story of this scope and wrap it up in that short amount of time was a no go.

I give this trilogy an overall rating of 4 stars. With that said, I felt that each book got better and the final book was great!

Book 1 started off a little slow and I wasn’t super invested.
Book 2 became more intense with more action and I grew intrigued.
Book 3 was very fast paced and a really great conclusion in my opinion. Thoroughly enjoyed the final book!

This trilogy is episodic in nature, so each book is short.

The audiobooks are great because of the narration! And each audiobook is about 2 hrs. Highly recommend audiobook option!

YA fantasy with dragon riders, magic wielders and a battle for good vs evil.
