Very Clear and Informative Book

This is truly an introduction to the Paleo diet, and should be one of the first books on the subject to be read. It explains the thought behind the diet, and explains how to fit this way of eating into modern life.

Very good how-to. As the title states, it is for beginners. Detailed enough to keep it interesting and not weighed down with too much information to make it boring. I recommend it for anyone thinking of this healthy eating lifestyle!

So, my dirty little secret is that I have been an Atkins advocate for about 18 years. We all have a formula that works for us in attaining our weight and health goals, and however you may disagree or throw this-or-that study at me, the bottom line is it has always worked for me. It lowered my cholesterol dramatically in a matter of weeks, took me off of the pre-diabetic watch, and kept my waist trim for almost 2 decades.

But there is a problem with Atkins, and that is long-term sustainability. As easy as it is for me to stay under 20 carbs a day (I'm a purist—no Advantage or New Revolution for me), the most difficult part has always been limited-to-no fruit even with a net carb discount.

Enter Paleo, with Paleo for Beginners as my first glimpse at something I might actually be down for trying. Straightforward, no-nonsense writing and comprehensive information make this an excellent first toe into the Paleo kiddie pool. This guide is loaded with a ton of useful information, and padded out with some that isn't so useful (such as a section on hunting and fishing to save money—not super practical for a girl in central London). Towards the latter part of the book it did tend to feel like I was being sold on something, but I suppose I understand the intent of the author. Still, if you push through you'll come to the recipe section, which have some creative and tasty ideas.

All in all, I recommend this book to anyone interested in Paleo to anyone who is looking for a longer-term lifestyle choice that has more options—and is probably easier to sustain—than Atkins.

Paleo for Beginners: A practical Guide to Getting Started with Paleo is extremely informative, clear, and quite friendly.

Being rather familiar with the Paleo diet for years, I very much appreciated the volume of accurate information written in very accessible language.

I wish the e-book had been formatted more conscientiously, however. A simple page break before the major headings would have been sufficient to prevent headings from appearing on the last line of a page.

E-books are challenging to format as the e-readers automatically change text size, and extra attention should be paid to formatting them for the medium by the author and publisher.

Received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

I must say this is a very informative book and a very helpful guide to those who are new to paleo diet. The details and writing style are very straightforward and no sugar - coating, so it's much more easier to read. It's a great investment, and doesn't cost much for a such a helpful guide.

However, I do suggest adding the citation section for the next publish.
