Lancaster.. the ‘brother’ we have waited so longgggg to hear more about.

And safe to say he does not disappoint. The man scream mobster but he’s the sweetest most caring soul. And the fact he loved from a distance for so long had me tearing up 🥺

Our girl was a queen as well. Knew what she wanted, how she wanted it and didn’t back down.

Now the ending has me soooo intrigued for what’s to come. Erin you have done it again!

Prepare to have your heartstrings tugged and your mind blown as you read this book. Lancaster is a familiar character from the previous books in this series featuring the Benson brothers. He shows up to lend assistance in situations where extra security and deadly skills are needed. Now, Lancaster has set up his home base in Colson Creek. He has become part of the Benson extended family and Donna, the matriarch and determined matchmaker of the family, now has her sights set on helping Lancaster claim his soulmate, the beautiful and enigmatic Jade. Even with her focus concentrated on keeping her twin boys safe, Jade is constantly aware of Lancaster’s presence. Tall, dark and broody Lancaster and Jade share a past that haunts them both and ignited a flame that still glows deep within them. Both yearn for the other, but fear the other doesn’t return their feelings. They are stuck in limbo until Donna and the Benson brothers decide to do a little prodding and meddling to get the two together.

With his mafia family background, danger, corruption and conflict are normal for Lancaster, and as we soon discover, for Jade as well. As their story unfolds, their past comes back to haunt and taunt them, bringing danger and destruction into their lives. Fortunately, the Benson family steps up to offer support and protection along with brothers in arms from Lancaster’s military past and secret allies. While their story becomes darker and more twisted, Lancaster and Jade’s relationship heats up. This book illustrates how messy, complicated and beautiful love can be.

Both Lancaster and Jade are multilayered and absolutely fascinating characters. They both have a formidable dark and dangerous side, one that is chilling and deadly. They also have a soft, very vulnerable and tender side that they show very few people, but are finally ready to show each other. With the teasing, prodding and encouragement of the gregarious and wonderful Benson clan, these two lovers finally claim their own happily ever after. This book has my wholehearted recommendation, though I encourage others to check the triggers before reading it.

In book 5 of the romantic suspense, small town Colson Creek series, Erin takes us on a wildly suspenseful journey of dark family ties that can’t be undone as much as Lancaster (Linc) Bernardi wishes they could.

Linc has settled in Colson Creek to start anew and to watch over Jade, the woman he’s always loved but could never have, who is also hiding from her past. Linc has become a solid part of the Benson family and a brother in every way, especially to Levi, his best friend from back in their military days. Theirs is a brotherly bond and mutual respect at the highest level. I loved their relationship and how every Benson family member embraced Linc as one of their own.

Jade and her twin boys are everything to Linc but he only watches out for them from afar. He vows to protect them with his life. And then . . . the DiRossi Crime family from Chicago (Linc’s family) makes themselves known in Colson Creek.

The Benson family shows up in full force for Linc and Jade. Brothers Levi and Ben are right by Linc’s side no matter the danger. You’ll love Donna Benson’s heartfelt meddling to get Linc and Jade together and the brothers’ good natured teasing is well placed humor in this dark tale. I particularly loved that they refer to Linc as “Thundercloud.”

We meet some questionable characters intertwined with Linc and Jade. Some are fascinating with their dark agendas and others have the most evil of intentions, so buckle up for some violence and bone chilling drama.

This is a very slow burn dark romantic suspense with an explosive twist toward the end. I’ll simply say there are some strong, forceful women to take note of in this story and the title of this book says it all.

This book can be read as a stand alone but if you haven’t read about each Benson’s journey to their HEA, grab books 1-4 in this series. You won’t be sorry.

The Price of Vengeance is a small town, slow burn, romantic suspense novel. It's the fifth book in the Colson Creek series and follows the MCs Jade/Alessandra & Lancaster. Jade is a widow and single mother to twins boys. She is guarded and carries secrets of her own. She surprised me in the best of ways. Lancaster is former military and has returned home to provide extra security to Jade and her sons. He is the very definition of tall, dark, and handsome with sides of mystery and broodiness. He comes with secrets, Mafia ties, and dangerous complications.

Jade and Lancaster are both quite complicated and try to resist the chemistry from their past which has been reignited since Lancaster's return. But some supportive meddling by family gave them some necessary assistance. I enjoyed exploring their vulnerabilities and seeing them open up to one another. The story was intense, entertaining, and wholesome. The characters were very well developed and as per usual, I loved the family. The plot twists in this one definitely through me through a giant loop. I truly was not expecting several of the events. Audible gasps, and jaw dropping were truly apart of this read. This book was so well done. This book features Fitzgerald's signature cocktail of heart pounding angst, jaw dropping plot twists, familial support, and tender heartfelt moments. What a ride! If you enjoy twisty romances, make certain to add this to the tbr.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 is the 5th book in the Colson Creek series by Erin FitzGerald, featuring the long-awaited story of the enigma himself, Lancaster, and his Queen, Jade, who was quite the surprise in her own right!! I was not expecting this wild ride, book friends!! Holy plot twists! I mean, hold onto your hats, because I spent the majority of this book either with my jaw on the floor, barely breathing, or cheering with a devilish grin on my face. It’s dark and twisted, it’s emotional and unpredictable, and yet Linc, Jade, and her adorable boys are still surrounded by the amazing Benson family who have claimed them, so there’s plenty of lighthearted moments, too. The razzing between brothers guarantees a laugh, and the heart-melting connection that Linc has with little Leah would bring a smile to even the most hardened soul! I’m not going to lie, there are some tough moments that brought tears to my eyes, but there are characters in this story that displayed the type of admirable strength that you don’t often see, and it made it fun to read. Linc and Jade are two complex, broken souls who absolutely deserve love and could not be more perfect for each other! It’s a mafia story, so the action, the v!olence, and the sheer power and determination to win is all there, but it’s a unique take, and I absolutely 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙩!! I could read multiple books just about this couple, if Erin FitzGerald wanted to keep writing them!

This is the fifth installment in The Colson Creek series, which I absolutely adore.

The Benson brothers are simply the best. When their friend, Linc, spots a woman from his past, Jade, they leap into action to help him keep her safe.

Erin’s books always captivate me with their perfect blend of suspense and romance. The entire Benson family is wonderful. I love their playful banter, their family text threads, and how they embrace those who are broken. I was eager to dive into Linc’s story and was pleasantly surprised by his softer side, which I hadn’t seen much of before. His mysterious, brooding aura hid a deeper depth.

Jade, too, harbors a significant secret and proves to be a formidable force. Watching these two find their way back to each other was genuinely heartwarming.

What I love most is how Erin’s books naturally set up the next couple’s story, keeping me hooked.

I am excited that Erin is returning to Wolf Mountain this year! I’m thrilled because that series is where I fell in love with her writing. It’s one of my all-time favorites, and she’s definitely one of my go-to authors.

If you’re into romance, suspense, and a lively, crazy family, this book is a must-read. Mark your calendar for its release on April 14, 2026.

Welcome back to Colson Creek.. where you never get a calm, relaxing day… ever! And, as usual, I have to start this review by saying how happy I am that Donna and Erik are healthy and doing well. I also love that Donna continues to find new lives to meddle in.

I can honestly say I’ve been waiting for Linc’s story for a long time, and when I tell you it did not disappoint..I mean it. Linc and Jade are truly two peas in a pod, basically the same person in different fonts. When I started seeing people talk about a surprise plot twist, I never would’ve guessed in a million years what was coming. It was so unexpected, and I loved it.

I also loved how Alexandra (Erin, I noticed the switch, so I’m going with it too lol) didn’t hesitate when it came to Linc. And in the end, they both understood the assignment, and he supported her completely. These two spent so many years wanting the same thing and it not being possible, so I’m glad they got their second chance.

There’s honestly so much more I could say about this book, but I’ll wrap it up by saying I absolutely can’t get enough of Leah and Linc’s relationship. Ben and Levi are hilarious, which brings me to Charlie, I really love her tiny but crazy self!

Thankfully, for us and Donna, we aren’t done in Colson Creek. Gage is just getting started… so I’ll see you all next time!

The Price Of Vengeance (Colson Creek book 5) by Erin Fitzgerald

We’re back in Colson Creek! Only this time, we’re not back for another Benson brother (technically) 😻 it’s the honorary Benson’s turn, Mr Lancaster (Linc) Bernardi, aka Rocco DeRossi Jr.

I was so excited for Lancaster’s book when I found out there were going to be some darker, mafia romance themes. Jade/Alessandra is exactly who I hoped she would be - Linc’s absolute match; both with hearts of black gold, ready to put everything on the line for those they love 🖤

It’s a weird fourth-wall feeling, reading about a secondary character going through something health-wise, while also processing that someone very close to me is currently dealing with the same thing. While it wasn’t a major plot point, it did pop up throughout the story, so of course my heartstrings immediately got tugged 💕

There were a few spots that I found the pacing a little jumpy, but overall the story was relatively quick-paced, with a slow burn that really makes you wait for it 😍 what I didn’t expect, was who actually placed the hit on Jade’s first husband. Although, I really should’ve known better! 🖤

Fave line: “I didn’t need or want the world to know about my happiness. I wanted to hold it close to my heart, hide it from everyone else for fear they would try to take it from me.”

Ever since Lancaster was introduced as a supporting character earlier on in the Colson Creek series, I was curious about his backstory. I waited a long time to hear his tale, and it did not disappoint! The Price of Vengeance is a small town suspenseful (semi-dark) romance story about Lancaster, Jade, the sorted past they share, and the twist that brings them back together.

This book has so much to offer: slow burn and spice, a hot and broody MMC, a mysterious and gorgeous FMC, hilarious banter between characters, unexpected twist, found family dynamics, great character development, a satisfying HEA, and best of all—the Bensons!!

There were so many great scenes in this book that either made my jaw drop, or made me laugh out loud—sometimes both! Hello…the freezer scene?! Shocking, but oh so funny! Alessandra talking to Charlie about being an Orc in a past life at the dinner table…I couldn’t stop laughing! (IYKYK)

If you haven’t read the other books in the Colson Creek series, I highly recommend you start at the beginning and work your way to this one. The family dynamic continues to build through the entire series, and they just get better and better!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — A Dark, Gritty, Small‑Town Romance That Still Works Even If You Haven’t Read the First Four

The Price of Vengeance surprised me in the best way — especially because I went in without reading the first four books. And guess what? I never felt lost. Erin FitzGerald gives you just enough context to understand the history without bogging you down, so you can dive straight into the tension, the danger, and the deliciously complicated second‑chance energy.

The ex‑mafia, small‑town‑Minnesota mix is such a vibe. The hero’s guilt, loyalty, and “I will burn down everything to protect you” intensity pulled me in immediately. The heroine brings the emotional grounding the story needs, and their shared history adds weight to every look, every hesitation, every almost‑moment.

Even without the earlier books, the stakes feel real, the found‑family threads land, and the suspense keeps the pages turning. It’s gritty, tender, and full of that FitzGerald signature blend of danger + heart.

Why not five stars? A few pacing dips and moments where I wanted a deeper emotional payoff. But overall, it’s a strong, compelling 4‑star read — and absolutely approachable for new readers.

I have loved this series so much ( can be read standalone) - I was excited to read Lancaster and Jade’s story.
This book blew my mind! I don’t want to give spoilers but the twists on this book had me reading til late at night. Jade is a lot more than the quiet mother with her boys and her back story alongside Lancaster’s back story is so so juicy! I could feel the tension between them through the pages and their slow burn to be together amid the exciting story was a total ride! Loved it, loved it, loved it! Such a brilliant story - Erin just writes the most gorgeous characters with their flaws but you love them anyhow. Add to this the loyalty, love and banter of the family - who I adore and it’s just a cracking story. Definitely one to reread again.
I’m thought this might be the end of the series but the teaser for Gage’s story and the mayhem that may come was an epilogue delight ! More to come and I can not wait

This has become one of my favorite books by Erin Fitzgerald! Such a page turner with lots of twists and turns! Small town/Ex-Mafia/Second chance romantic suspense. Colson Creek is full of surprises and very focused on family and family values.

Jade “Alessandra” is a single mom of twins. She was married in an arranged marriage. She was able to get away and has settled in Colson Creek. Is she really safe is the question? Lancaster “Linc” has a connection to Jade. What is that? How is it all tied to Jade? Wait til you find out! Without giving much away, the connection Jade and Lancaster have is definitely electric. When a certain something happens to Lancaster, it seems the two become even closer. That was definitely a scary event.

The ending was the best! I was so happy the way the story turned out. You will have to read the book to see how this story will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end!

My thoughts:
We finally get more insight into Lancaster in a more personal way….I’ve been waiting to get the “scoop” on him.
The Price of Vengeance revolves around Jade and Linc. And, what a story that is!
There are so many twists within the story! Right when you think nothing else can happen….it happens.
The banter throughout the story was wonderful. It brought some lightness to a very intense and intriguing story.
The ending will literally blow your mind.
The side note of Gage makes me wonder????? Maybe Erin will be giving him some love.
If you are a fan of romantic suspense and crazy family dynamics ….this is a series you should definitely start reading. Though each book could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order of release. There is so much backstory to each character that is important to know.

The Price of Vengeance is part of the Colson Creek Romance series. Jade finds herself in Colson Creek hiding from her past and Linc is determined to help her. He has had a thing for her for years, but hasn’t been able to act on it due to circumstances. They may finally have a chance at a happily ever after, but first they need to make it through the looming storm.

I love this series and was excited to read Linc’s story, he deserved a happily ever after and this book gives him a good shot at one. Jade and Linc were great together and the way their baggage was interwoven made them even stronger together. This was a fast paced, action filled romance story and I enjoyed every minute of it. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put this book down. This was another great installation in this series and I’m excited to see what comes next!

This one of Erin's most intense books yet and I am here for it! Give me all of the romantic suspense. We also got our little moments of Donna meddling which we all love for good reason.

I found myself truly glued to the pages as the story picked up. Seeing old characters we know and love only helps with this! I am truly impressed at Erin's ability to create such a large found family where the reader will love every single one of them. It also brings me immense joy that we don't have to say goodbye yet.

The story just kept unfolding and I'm happy about that because I did not want it to send. Seeing a strong woman and an equally strong and loyal man work together is rapidly becoming my bread and butter.

This book does contain some open-door spice. It can be skipped without missing too much plot.

I really like Colson Creak and it's characters. I love the closeness, protectiveness and all that love towards each other that truly makes them a family.
I was really looking forward Lancaster's story since the previous books. He is guarded and grumpy but has such a sweet hear towards those he cares about. Those small moments with little Leah are priceless. They made me melt a little.
So I was thrilled to get to his story and learn more about him. And imagine my surprise..
This story took turns that I didn't see coming.
Well... I was expecting Lancaster to be the tough one in this story! But I was just not expecting that Jade was as strong and fierce and completly took over. Wow.
We have a lot of heavier topics and some TW and it's not just a small town but also a mafia story.

I loved Jade & Lancaster's story. Jade is a single mom/widow who is hiding in Colson Creek. Lancaster is the man who has always had a protective eye on her whether she knew it or not. The tension between these two... whew! The burn is slow but the wait is worth it. I'm so glad Lancaster got his HEA. He deserved it!!!

This one totally caught me off guard with where it was going. It was a fun little surprise. The twists and turns kept me turning the page to find out what was going to happen.

I love this Benson family and love how they take people in and love them as their own. The lengths these people would go through to protect each other is amazing. I'm so glad we get to be in Colson Creek just a little bit longer.

In this story we get to see the mafia world, which for me honestly didn’t really work. I’m a more small town/romcom kind of girl. But I think this kind of story is what really makes Erin shine. This is her.
Lancaster and Jade are both great characters, there were some twists that I wasn’t expecting and it definitely kept me reading to know more. I like how Erin presented us Lancaster’s story and his hea. She has a way of making us see the sensibility of the male characters and their insecurities. Which honestly is a breath of fresh air with all the protective masculinity flying around in books.
Overall a great book if you are into the mafia world, former military and found family stuff. Also, the Bensons are always a good choice, so I totally recommend to read the whole series!

Erin has done it again and written another absolute cracking addition to the Colson Creek series. The focus this time is on Lancaster, who I’ve always thought of as a dark horse. Alongside him in this, as well as the Benson family, is Jade. The two of them have history and Lancaster has always looked out for her ~ even if she didn’t know it……. When things become tricky and their Mafia past makes an appearance it soon becomes obvious that the Benson family will do all they can to help and protect. However be prepared for some brilliant twists, characters that are not at all how you think and some explosive moments. Both these main characters are complex and deep and this makes them very interesting to get to know. I absolutely love this series and especially how Erin weaves characters we’ve previously met, past events and pockets of humour into storylines that flow as well as being extremely easy to get engaged in.

Erin writes her broken characters in such a beautiful way. We watch them crack, fall apart, but then have the courage, fight and determination to fight back.

Lancaster and Jade have been tested, continue to be tested but in the end, love wins. These two bring all the emotions and feels to this story. Both have secrets, past burdens and are facing current danger…but together, along with family, and towns people they will win the fight. The Benson family texts are fabulous!

Jade, a single mom, has settled in Colson Creek with her twin boys. She tries to keep a low profile to keep herself and her boys safe but when she finds Lancaster is also in Colson Creek, she’s not sure that’s possible any longer. The two share a past with both coming from mafia families.

Lancaster has disassociated himself from his mafia family but when danger comes calling, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect Jade and her boys. He finds he’s not alone in his quest. The Benson family and others are there to support him every step of the way.

Twists, turns, big surprises, family dynamics, strong friendships, second chances and more. I love this series!

Another wonderful mid-life second chance romance from my favourite Indie author! I absolutely loved Lancaster & Jade and their devotion to each other despite everything they had been through. I didn’t see the twist coming and I think it fit perfectly for the characters. Some of my favourite scenes were between little Leah and Lancaster and how the non-verbal little girl absolutely adores him and how he is a big softie for her (and Jade’s boys). I have absolutely loved the Colson Creek series and the Benson men. I highly recommend the series if you love banter, small town, big family dynamics (and found family), and characters that are older and been through tough times & situations and have to work to get their happily ever afters.

😳😳❤️Holy Sleetzky…I’ve longed for Lancaster to get his story and did Erin Fitzgerald pull out her A game for him!!!

And what can I say…the longing from afar, the lies, the secrets, the “family” ties, the pain, the hurt….all will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning the pages as you wait for the unthinkable to happen.

Will Lancaster survive, does Jade get to him in time and who will wreak havoc on those that dared to harm? What a winding & twisting tale of forbidden feelings the will pull out all of the heartstrings and have you holding your breath as it all unfolds!! Loved it!!❤️❤️❤️

Erin always does a wonderful job telling a story and this is a great addition to the series. Jade and Lancaster are two broken souls that have tension amongst each other. The story blends romance and suspense and keeps you hooked to the pages from start to finish.

I have so enjoyed this series. You can totally jump in without having read Wolf Mountain Ranchers series but I recommend you don’t as you’ll be missing so much depth that series adds to the Benson family. And I was doubly happy to see Lancaster get his HEA. He has taken up residence in my heart over the course of this set of books. If you love tall, middle age (in a good way) and sexy getting their second chance then the Colson Creek Series is one you should pick up!!

I loved this! It's Jade & Lancaster's story & it was awesome! She's running from her past & he's been watching her for a while. They both have secrets & are determined to protect the ones they love. They've both been added to the Benson family & they also protect their own. I loved the story; a lot happens here & she's been keeping secrets. The attraction between them is undeniable. But their past catches up to them & a lot is at stake. I loved the spice & the story was fantastic! They deserved their HEA!! Recommend this book & author!

I’ve wanted to know what Lancaster story was. And we finally got it. Both Lancaster and Jade have secrets. Jade was married to Lancaster half brother. But when he was killed Jade took her twin boys and ran. Setting in Colson Creek. Hoping that she won’t be found. Then Lancaster shows up. He’s always watching her but he keeps his distance. But since the family that took him in like their own is doing the same for Jade. Soon secrets start being revealed. I definitely didn’t expect the way their story unfolded. I’m happy they got their hea!

Yet another wonderful read by one of my favorite authors. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and this story did not disappoint this reader. I absolutely love her style of writing and it definitely draws me, the reader into each story that she writes. I love the way that you feel like you are a part of the story, and connect with the characters. I enjoyed reading about Jade & Lancaster. Their story will definitely stay with me for a while. Colson Creek is one of my personal favorites series I’ve had the pleasure to read. I look forward to the author’s next book.

We finally get Lancasters book and holey moley what a ride! He spared Jades life his halfbrothers widow,now single mother to twins and living her life as free as she can, only when their paths cross once more is this the chance that should have been theirs all along or will trouble hit closer to home!
