Evelyn intends to kill the man she’s destined to love.
She’s the shifter alpha’s fated mate, and the red marking on her hand is the proof. Captured as a child and raised in a human government facility, she’s the weapon that will finally bring the shifters to their knees.
Evelyn knows her purpose. Get close. Learn the alpha’s secrets. Then kill him.
Sent into shifter territory under the guise of a failed kidnapping, she quickly finds herself in the presence of her mate—the elusive Alpha Knox. He’s feared, ruthless, and yet nothing like the monster she was taught to expect. Instead of brutality, he offers protection. Instead of cruelty, he offers patience.
For the first time in her life, Evelyn begins to question who the real enemy is.
If she accepts the mate bond, she betrays her people. If she completes her mission, she destroys the only man who has ever treated her like she matters.

5⭐️4🌶️ Invi has done it again!! The first in her new duology. This spicy wolf shifter romantasy will have you hooked and unable to put the book down. Invi’s romantasy reads are always perfectly binge-able with simple world building that unfolds naturally. In this world humans hate shifters and the shifters have formed their own society, keeping to their own lands, current day Canada. Their lands are broken up into packs, with Alpha Caleb Knox leading millions of shifters in the Knox pack. Evelyn is Alpha Knox’s human mate, she’s also been trained since childhood to hate him and all shifters, with her life’s mission to “save humanity from the brutal shifters” by killing him and creating a weakness for the human government to take them down once and for all. Each characters has been thoughtfully crafted with layers of trauma to unpack. This helps bring the reader deeper into the relationship and it’s so complimentary to the larger plot as well as the romance. The insane tension between the MCs due to the mate bond, yet Evelyn hating him and wanting to resist was so fun and addictive to read. The plot had me screaming and throwing my kindle. My emotions went crazy as I fell in love with these two characters and each of their journeys to find themselves. The political tensions and pack dynamics are a great addition to the fast burn spicy romance, I binged the entire thing in one sitting because I could NOT put it down. THAT ENDING?!? Absolutely diabolical. Jaw on the floor, I am SAT for the next book. Invi might be an evil genius. Caleb is my new fav, that sweet angel baby protect him at all costs!!!
Well where do I start. This is definitely a 2.5 star rating. It is pretty much straight from whattpad with edits. The story is great and I will probably read the next book just to find out the ending. However, god the main character and her inner monologue was infuriating I don't know how I finished this. She made the worst mistakes, thought crazy things and things just shifted so quickly from pure hate to back together like nothing changed. The only good thing about this was the storyline, I may not get through the second book.
Did I binge this book? Yep. Did I think it was the best book ever? Nope. Did I have a good time? Absolutely.
This book honestly felt like watching a super dramatic CW show. Was it messy? Yes. Was it kind of ridiculous? Also yes. But that's exactly why I had so much fun with it.
It's definitely not one of those books that's going to blow your mind, but if you're just in the mood for something entertaining that you can fly through, I'd recommend it.
That being said... the "vaginas are self-cleaning" line came out of nowhere and I had to put the book down for a second. 💀 Consider yourself warned.
not a literary masterpiece by any means but I couldn't set it down lmao. super bingeable and easy to read but the pacing and timeline were quite all over the place.
So we have a human who is fated to a shifter. How does she know this? Because she has a tattoo on her hand that matches her mate's.
She is being held in a facility in a post-separation(shifters make existence known, move to Canada) United States. They took possession of her when she was 7 when they realized that she had a mate tattoo on her hand, then brainwashed her into believing that shifters were evil and that her mate, the Alpha, needed to be killed.
They set it up so that the wolves will find her, by tying her to a bed inside shifter territory where they know shifters frequent....how...utterly convenient...A random abused and beat up human shows up in shifter territory chained to a bed by humans, and no one even has an inkling that this could be a setup. (eye roll)
Evelyn ends up being taken in by her mate, who races across Canada to get to her once he learns she's been chained up in a cabin, takes her home and sets her up in his house.
The entire relationship between Evelyn and Caleb is so fucking weird. Like, seriously, it's weird. It's not at all normal. First of all, the color of the marks tells the other mate just how faithful they've been. The darker the mark, the more unfaithful. Evelyn's mark is almost black when they meet, because the government agency that held her encouraged her to have sex as often as possible. Caleb on the other hand, his tattoo is completely white, because he's never even seen a naked female before. EVER.
Umm...except for the fact that since the start of the book, shifters have been getting naked the whole time...in front of each other. But he's been a good boy his entire 30 some years on earth and has never even taken a peek at a naked female shifter before. (queue another eye roll so hard, they got stuck in my head)
Then come the sexy times...the first time happens...day 2 I think. Where he ends up fingering her while she's bathing, and he ends up coming all over the bathroom floor or some shit. She is supposed to be scared to death of shifters, and yet here we are persuading Caleb to have sexy time with her.
He refuses to have sex with her. It's a back and forth for a decent part of the book. She keeps trying to entice him into having sex; he'll fuck her between her thighs, or finger her, but he refuses to have sex with her yet.
Meanwhile, Evelyn is getting to know her way around town and befriending everyone, all the while convincing herself that she still needs to kill Caleb, because that was the whole point of her mission.
She finally convinces him to have sex with her. They tell each other that they are in love, and then she tries to slit his throat and takes off back to the humans.
He gets her back, of course, and instead of killing her, or telling anyone what she has done, he sets her up in an apartment for a year and gives her his credit card to buy shit....
SHE TRIED TO KILL YOU! WHY YOU TAKING CARE OF THE UNFEELING BITCH!
Then...he keeps showing up at the apartment to help her and give her things....
The best part is when Evelyn decides she's going to fix things, so she gives him a bj...and then it's like, okay, cool. I love you again!
Like WTF...
There was absolutely no connection between these two characters whatsoever. They had no sort of substantial conversation throughout the entire book. They knew nothing about each other.
Evelyn had her suspicions that Caleb wasn't the evil man she was told he was, but she ignored her gut and tried to kill him anyway.
I honestly felt like i was reading a book that a robot wrote. It felt so monotonous and unexciting. It was beyond ridiculous, and there is no way i care enough to find out what happens in the next book. It's a hard no from me dawg.
This is why I typically steer clear of fated mate romances. The lack of connection between characters is overlooked and not fully fleshed out in most of them, because they are just supposed to inherently love each other because it's fated. They never have to work on anything, because they just automatically want each other. It's so damn frustrating and makes for an uninspired romance and story.
lowk was imagining jacob black as the mmc 🐺 and got uncomfortable when they were all naked and surrounding the fmc 😭😭 (pls ik this makes no sense, i apologize.)
3.25 stars* The concept of this book was seriously so fun. Human girl trains her entire life to infiltrate the wolf shifter pack and kill the alpha - who is also her mate. When the mission begins she might start to catch feelings and secrets are revealed that she starts to question everything. The ending was a total blow up - huge cliffhanger! Aside from the fun stuff it felt one layered, a lot of telling not showing and was silly at times but it was a really fun audiobook! Def a vibes read and I’ll continue to the next one when it’s out !

Review No Spoilers: This paranormal romantasy delivers an emotional, tension-filled story packed with shifters, fated mates, political conflict, and impossible choices. From the very beginning, the novel places readers in the shoes of Evelyn, a human assassin who has spent her entire life being molded into the perfect weapon. Sent undercover to infiltrate shifter territory and eliminate the powerful Alpha Knox who also happens to be her fated mate she soon discovers that nothing she’s been taught is as black and white as it seems.
The relationship between Evelyn and Knox is the heart of the story. Their romance is a slow burn filled with distrust, longing, and undeniable chemistry. Rather than relying solely on the fated mates trope, the author builds their connection through patience, mutual respect, and emotional vulnerability, making their growing bond feel genuine and rewarding.
Beyond the romance, the story explores themes of manipulation, identity, prejudice, and free will. Evelyn’s internal struggle between the life she was conditioned to believe in and the reality she begins to experience adds emotional depth to the action-packed plot. As secrets unravel and loyalties are tested, the stakes continue to rise, keeping the pages turning.
Fans of protective alpha heroes, morally conflicted heroines, undercover missions, found family, and shifter romance will find plenty to love. With strong emotional moments, dangerous twists, and a compelling blend of romance and fantasy, this is an engaging read that leaves readers eager to see what happens next.
Wow what a book! Evelyn was raised by a secret human organization to assassinate her Alpha wolf shifter mate. She starts to struggle with the idea once her mission to infiltrate the shifters is in progress. Caleb is such a thoughtful MMC, he had amazing restraint and consideration for Evelyn and their budding relationship. Evelyn couldn’t help but feel that mate bond, and man did it cause her to start to wonder...
I thought the pacing of this novel was great; I never got bored. The world was dystopian and the divide between shifters and humans was well-thought out.
It took me a minute to get used to the narrative voice, but I could tell it was an intentional choice by the author. Evelyn’s inner dialogue grows and matures as she herself grows. This was done artfully and subtly throughout the course of the book. At first, I found Evelyn/narration stilted and repetitive. Eventually, she blossoms into using more complex sentence structure. I’m a nerd so I get really excited about that sorta thing 😅
I received this book as an ARC and I ate it up way too fast! I need the next one STAT, and thankfully I’ll only have to wait a few months!
ARC - 5/5⭐️ what the hell!!!! The ending has me shaking in my bootsss. I need the next book ASAP! 😭🙏🏻 Everything about this was PERFECTION 😍
Land of Wolves tells the story of Evelyn, a female human assassin, on a mission to literally kill Caleb, MMC a werewolf shifter who is the alpha of his pack. And to make things even more interesting…they’re mates. Evelyn is fighting a battle between herself and the pull of the mate bond; while Caleb seems so trusting and willing to give in to the bond. Caleb is giving very up golden retriever vibes and I ate it uppp.
Girllll if you’re looking for a spicy enemies to lovers romance, this is the one for you. I’m obsessed and I never thought I’d be into a werewolf romance 🌶️🥵 Land of Wolves is steamy, spicy, and fast paced. The writing is engaging and will keep you on the edge of your seat. This book had me locked in! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
Miss Invi girlllll you outdid yourself with this one 🙌🏻
after reading the trash that was the female by this author and having trauma from that series (seriously, i’m scarred), i wasn’t sure about this book. BUT. i can feel a slump creeping in and everyone is saying that this is hella bingeable… so i’m praying that this book doesn’t make me rage quit and perhaps become depressed because every book i pick up is boring. okay wish me luck!
This is a review of the ARC provided by the author. This book for the first 10% had me lowkey feeling INSANE - why? Because like 10 years ago I read this book on WATTPAD. Granted it’s had some revisions and edits but girl I tell you I was wracking my brains trying to figure this out *insert crime board gif* This also means I know a bit more about the sequel than the others MWHAHAHAHA it pays to be a die hard fan
Anyway a good story, struggled with the insta love and kinda lack of chemistry between Evelyn and Caleb. I wish the finding her independence went on a bit longer so Evelyn could see herself thrive within the pack.
Can’t wait to read the next one - Adam I’m here 🫠🫶
4.5⭐️ WTH was that ending Invi, I was warned it would be bad, but that was down right diabolical! After all the turmoil those two went through just to…
Evelyn is a human that’s mated to the strongest alpha from one of the largest packs. When she finds out that it’s him that shares the same mate mark as her, she sets out to find him only to essentially be captured and brainwashed by the government agency determined to capture, and torture shifters. Evelyn goes undercover and finds out that the shifters may not be as bad as she believes them to be, but she has a mission, and that’s to kill her mate.
I loved the unique mate marks, and the sort of dystpoia type world Invi created. This book was fast paced, and I definitely started to enjoy the FMC after we finally got the entire story. I loved Caleb…but boy was he entirely too trusting at times. Their mate bond definitely led him to make some questionable decisions and miss quite a few red flags.
Thank you so much to Invi Wright for the gifted copy in exchange for my honest review, I will be on the edge of my seat for book 2!
This is a review of the ARC I received from the author.
Evelyn is a human member of HPAW (human protection against wolves), a government agency dedicated to taking down wolf shifters.
Caleb is the Alpha wolf for the largest pack of shifters in Canada. His wolf is the most dominant wolf of all the alphas.
Evelyn and Caleb are fated mates, with a mate bond marking them as belonging to each other. For this reason, HPAW took Evelyn in at the age of 7 and trained her for one thing… to seduce and kill Caleb Knox and dismantle the shifter hierarchy.
This book had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down, knowing at any moment Evelyn might make an attempt on Caleb’s life.
You’re constantly kept guessing if Evelyn will go through with the assassination attempt, or if their bond will prevail and she will choose Caleb.
Once Evelyn carry’s out her mission, I thought the story would end and it doesn’t. The heartbreak and fallout of this was so devastating, and made me cry.
The book ends not knowing if Caleb is dead or alive, and I will be thinking about everything that happened until the next book comes out in June.
A massive thank you to author Invi Wright for the eARC! Let me just say my flabbers are gasted! I loved it!
The human FMC has been trained her whole life to seduce and kill her fated mate…who’s a wolf shifter, by the way. The instant chemistry between Evelyn and Caleb was so palpable, and the smut was on point!
The spice may have been what brought me here, but the plot kept me seated. It was interesting to watch Evelyn navigate her former education vs her new reality. I also enjoyed learning more about the shifters as the story progressed.
The pacing really picks up at the end and I am READY for book 2!
Also, always the sucker for a side character. Adam was great!
Thank you to the author for an advance review copy!
This book was nonstop from the beginning & immediately drew me in.
Our FMC Evelyn thinks that wolf shifters plan to attack all humans in North America and take over, and has been in training her whole life to work against this due to her fated mate bond with a powerful alpha.
She quickly sees that what she’s been taught about the shifters may not be true.
I LOVE Caleb he is 😍😍😍
The cliffhanger at the end of this book is MEAN & I’m so glad book 2 is coming shortly!
What the? The ending?? Oh come ON. Just when it was really getting interesting. The last fifty pages was absolute chaos! And in the best way. Fully unhinged, fully my kind of ride which is why I gave it a 4 stars thanks to that ending.
This was a quick, easy read with all the things we love about shifters, but I really liked the added twist with the HPAW government and the separation between humans and shifters, it gave the world a different edge.
The writing felt a little different at times, but it still worked for me. Im ready for book 2!
An addicting, fun, sexy time. I recommend reading this book when you’re ovulating. The FMC was frustrating and I found her annoying BUT the MMC was so hot, possessive and obsessive I couldn’t get enough.
Some of this was very cringy and other parts of it were fun and enjoyable. Idk if it was the writing style or just the FMC internal monologue that was cringe. Our FMC Evelyn was kidnapped at 7 and raised by the Americans to hate all shifter wolves. During her time there they assaulted her of all kinds and kept her naive and brain washed to their side. It all falls apart when she actually meets her mate - the alpha of Canada’s largest pack. She starts to have the wool pulled away from her eyes just in time to be kidnapped again. The last 30% of the book really builds the storyline.
