Essen Sharpe is the princess of the Sons of Eshu. Being the baby sister of the president, she can snap a finger and end a life. She can also cause someone to lose their life by getting too close. Despite her pull, the twenty-seven-year-old prides herself on being an asset to her family instead of a liability. So when a member of S.O.E. enlists the event coordinator’s services, Essen doesn’t second-guess agreeing to help with the winter event. She isn’t fazed that the requester is The Grinch, and it never crosses her mind that she may be the answer to someone’s Christmas wish.
Loso Bricks is the heart of S.O.E. He’s been a part of the family since the beginning, and considering his best friend is the president, loyalty has always come easy. Now, in a season of renewal, the mechanic is taking steps to rid his heart of winter blues. December has always unveiled some of his deepest heartaches, and Christmas has been the root of his irritation. When left with no choice but to join the holiday festivities, Loso reaches out for help that leads to new traditions everyone may not approve of.
Following the blueprint, Loso and Essen have long ago checked each other off their lists, yet a business proposition and spiked eggnog could land them both on Santa’s hit list.
An Eshu’s Little Helper is a warm, heartfelt, and fitting conclusion to Tucora Monique’s beloved Sons of Eshu series—one that blends romance, family loyalty, emotional healing, and holiday charm with ease. The story centers on Essen Sharpe, the princess of the Sons of Eshu and the baby sister of its president. Powerful yet purposeful, Essen refuses to be seen as a liability despite the danger that comes with her proximity and influence. At twenty-seven, she prides herself on being an asset to her family, a trait that naturally leads her to accept a seemingly simple request: coordinating a winter event for S.O.E. What she doesn’t anticipate is that this task will place her at the center of someone else’s Christmas wish—and possibly her own. Enter Loso Bricks, the steady heartbeat of the organization. A mechanic by trade and a loyal soldier by choice, Loso has always been defined by his devotion to the family and his friendship with its president. Yet beneath his reliability lies a man burdened by unresolved grief and long-standing resentment toward the holiday season. December brings more pain than joy for Loso, and Christmas has become a reminder of everything he has lost. When he is forced to participate in the festivities, he reluctantly reaches out for help—setting in motion a chain of events that challenges old boundaries, heals emotional wounds, and introduces unexpected traditions. The chemistry between Loso and Essen is subtle yet deeply satisfying. Their connection unfolds naturally, rooted in trust, quiet devotion, and unspoken understanding. Watching Essen slowly draw out Loso’s buried Christmas spirit is one of the novel’s greatest joys. Particularly touching is Loso’s unwavering presence—how he shows up for Essen every time she calls, without hesitation, dropping whatever he’s doing. It’s a beautiful demonstration of love through action rather than words. Equally compelling is Loso’s relationship with his family, especially the emotional depth explored through his dynamic with his parents. The resolution between Loso and his father, alongside the warmth of his bond with his mother, adds an extra layer of heart to the story and reinforces the series’ ongoing themes of healing and chosen family. As a longtime reader of the series, this novel feels like a fond farewell. While Durk remains a standout favorite—with Ishmael close behind—Loso proves himself more than worthy of his own spotlight. An Eshu’s Little Helper is sweet, cozy, and emotionally fulfilling, offering closure while leaving just enough hope for future cameos from these beloved characters. Tucora Monique delivers a charming holiday romance that honors the legacy of the Sons of Eshu series and reminds readers why they fell in love with this world in the first place. A delightful and satisfying ending—one that feels like coming home.
I'm so sad to see this series come to an end. I love, love, love the S.O.E.'s. If I could choose any of them, it would be Church.
Now for Loso and Essen. I love them together, and I was wondering if they were ever going to get together. They always had beef with each other, but at the same time, they were rocking with one another.
I love the line, "I never said that you weren't f@#$_&-+, I just never knew if I was the right person. Yes baby, Loso knew exactly what to say.
End of an era, but hopefully we will get an update on everyone in the future. Thank you Tucora!!!
I liked Loso and Essen’s story and was left wanting more of them together. This story gave me a grumpy/sunshine vibe because when it comes to the holidays, Loso was definitely a grinch and Essen was all cheer. This couple’s story went fast and felt a little rushed in my opinion, but I enjoyed the bond between these two and that there wasn’t much drama about Essen being his best friend’s little sister when their relationship was revealed.
Throughout this SOE ride, Church has held the top spot, but… Yeah, he’s now in number 2 because nobody is topping Big Loso!!!!😝 MY MAN, MY MAN, MY MAN! I was not ready for all that he gave. Essen being in play made this story even better because my girl has never been the one to play with… princess or not! I loved everything about this book except that it was too short.
Although, centered around Christmas the holiday was blended well with what we love from the SOE crew. We didn’t have too much drama more so past hurts and trauma. Essen gave Loso what he needed while he slid into her orbit with no problem. Loso and Essen are definitely a favorite couple for me. They started on slightly shaky ground but they got it together in the end.
I hate that this is the end but the ride was one I won't forget. Tucora Monique put her all into every book and as the series continued storylines got better and better. I can't wait to see what's up next!
This was a way to end the S.O.E.'s. Loso and Essen wasn't supposed to be together, but being in close proximity for an event changed that. They both had past relationships that didn't work, but was willing to try again. This was such a great story to the beginning of an epic love story!!
Ughhh, do I have to choose. Honestly though, it’s more than like Ish. I loved reading about Essen and Loso. I needed at least another 70 pages 😩🥹. I wanted to see how her brothers acted when they were all in a room together. I’m going to miss the Son’s of Eshu real bad.
Change and growth comes with time and effort. Hurt doesn’t mean shattered or damaged no one has to stay in the despair of a hardened heart. With time, patience and love the right person will come into your life and heart heal the wounds you thought would stay broken.
Lovely short love story! Loso and Essen were meant to be together! Close family and friwnds could see them being together themselves! I They just had to see it in one another. Loso mom was so funny and cute! Great ending, and I hope to see more of them!
