The two had met briefly a few weeks ago when he saved her from a brutal attack from someone who wanted dead for reasons unknown to her. The two was attracted to each by a magnetic pull, but she had be professional and worked the case to prove whether or not he was guilty or innocent.
But when chaos erupts at the court house she was to flee with him to safety. She tried to send him to prison but he took her captive instead. To the journey to safety wasn't even for Alex because she gave him and his men hell and kept them on their toes. Catherine is intelligent, fierce, defiant, sassy and challenging. And while sequester in hiding the two delved deeper in to each other's lives and individual families. And the more they get to know each other their attraction grows igniting a passion that burns so bright that they couldn't deny. And as the continues to work on his case Catherine and dove into his world, she realized that he had been framed and was truly innocent as he had professed. She also realized the reasons why she had been assigned to his case. There's internal threats, darkness, betrayal, backstabbing, double-cross, corruption, coercion and violence all around them which all elevates the danger.
They must navigate through treachery and learn to trust each other in order to uncover the culprit and make it out alive. And as enemies close in they world collides and truths that she had put to bed and thought was long buried came to life. For Catherine it as suddenly becomes more than solving a case and proving whether or not Alex was guilty or innocent. And when we thought that we'd figure out the story the author threw this unexpected twists in the mix that leaves the reader mind-blogged. When her boss threw a case at her last minute, she doesn’t know what to make of it. She certainly didn’t expect the defendant as the man she bumped into a few weeks prior. MURDER. Is he guilty?

I give it to Catherine. She is a very honest woman. She looks over everything in the case that she was given. Guilty or innocent, she has to prove it and make it stick. But Alex makes things difficult. He is temptation. These two both feel the electric current. When there is chaos at the court house, Alex has to get her to safety. Catherine isn’t going to be taken. She is defiantly a fighter. She also keeps him and his men on their toes. These two begin to learn about each other and their families. The passion between them is so hot. I was shocked about what we find out about Catherine. I mean, I figured there was another reason why she was given Alex’s case but wow. The story is intense at times and hot. Catherine is Alex’s light. She learns about his dark side. The only part that made my heartbreak was what Alex shows her at the cemetery. They need to do something about Uncle Armand. And who is next to find love?.

Illicit Vows was an intense and emotionally charged read that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The story leans into high stakes and complicated relationships, which made it hard to put down. I really enjoyed how the author explored themes of forbidden attraction, loyalty, and the consequences of choices—nothing felt too easy or neatly wrapped up, which added to the tension.

The chemistry between the main characters was one of the strongest parts of the book. Their interactions felt layered and conflicted, and I appreciated how the relationship developed through both passion and emotional struggle. The writing style was engaging and immersive, making it easy to fall into the world and feel the weight of the characters’ decisions.

That said, there were moments where the pacing felt slightly uneven, and a few scenes seemed to rely on familiar tropes. While these didn’t ruin the story for me, I did find myself wishing for a bit more depth in certain plot points and side characters.

Overall, Illicit Vows is a compelling romance with plenty of drama, emotion, and tension. It’s a strong read for fans who enjoy darker or more forbidden love stories, and I’m definitely interested in checking out more from this author.

Alexander Prince is a newly crowned mafia don after his father is brutally murdered. Catherine Devereaux is an up-and-coming assistant district attorney.

Alexander finds himself in a bind when he’s falsely accused of murder—and Catherine is assigned to his case. They’ve had a few chance encounters before the arrest, but once bullets start flying at both of them, it becomes clear that neither knows who the real target is. Betrayal and twists unfold along the way. Alex is your typical brooding mafia don, and Catherine has her claws out at first, but she eventually finds a way to melt his frozen heart.

Spoilers below:

I’m giving this three stars because there were several unanswered questions that left too many plot holes for me. Why did Catherine never speak to her dad—or her mom—after what she learned? They were such a large part of the story, and then it just abruptly stopped. The same goes for the uncle, who completely disappears without explanation after all the lies and chaos he tried to stir up.

I also felt the characters could have shown more emotion. There was instant passion, but beyond that, I didn’t truly feel the love between them—and that connection was missing for me.

Overall, it’s a decent read and will definitely keep you busy.

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book and, wonderful characters and captive plot
Alexander has been arrested right in the middle of her father’s funeral for a murder he had no involvement in and Catherine who is his attorney from the District Attorneys office. He had been arraigned by her boss with little time to prepare and she is slightly resentful but is professional and is determined to ensure that she gives his case her very best.
There is an attraction between the two and when they are forced to run from the courthouse after gunfire had erupted out of nowhere, Alexander had actually rescued her and had saved her from being killed. After she had run from his home and then had been captured and held him and she had been surprised at how quickly their relationship had grown.
I loved the setting of this book and the complexity of the characters and real interaction between these characters will keep readers totally engaged as I was.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Seldom do I wish that there was more than 5 stars available to give. This is one of those very few times. The author had become complacent, seemingly writing from a template with one stand out exception lately (Break Me). This one came out of left field and was worth the wait. The two main characters are strong and multi-facetted. The reader is immediately invested in Alexander and Catherine. Their banter, the spice, the secrets none saw coming. The side characters are intriguing for their own books - even Grandma.

It starts out with good vs evil with Catherine being the good and Alexander being the evil. The first twist is that neither is all one but both. The author melds the two sides together. They start out trying to figure out why she was assigned to his case and why he was framed. The journey the story takes is full of twists, surprises, shocks, giddiness, and gleefulness. Can their chance meet-cutes go a long way towards forever!
Is it fate or some higher intervention that keeps bringing Catherine and Alexander together? Catherine finds herself as the last minute prosecutor for Alexander's bond hearing and things go rapidly downhill from there in the courtroom. When Alexander takes matters in to his own hands quite literally, as he believes Catherine was the target. While Catherine can't deny the attraction to Alexander, she is an officer of the court and struggles to understand how this can even work. While Alexander wants Catherine as his own, he doesn't believe in coincidence so digs in to Catherine's past. What he finds will either seal their fate or tear it apart! Catherine may be the missing link, but will she accept her placement in Alexander's life? You have to read to find out and don't expect to put the book down until you turn the last page!

Alexander Prince first meets Catherine Devereaux when they bump into each other on the street. The second time he saves her when a man tries to do her harm, she is not above giving him a piece of her mind. The next is a fateful day when her boss, the DA, hand her a case on the morning for the first court appearance, it is him, he has been arrested for murder.

When bullets erupt in the courtroom, Alexander protects her and gets her out of there. He takes his prisoner/guest back to his house for protection and answers. These two push each others buttons and the heat is intense that nothing will keep them apart.

Alexander is not as big a monster that appears to be and Catherine is not as sweet. The are so many secrets to unravel to find out who wants one of them dead. This may be triggering for some due to the violence and intense interactions between the main characters.

Alexander is arrested during his father's funeral for a murder he didn't commit. Catherine is the attorney from the DA's office who is roped into his arraignment by her boss with little time to prepare. There is attraction between the two who are on opposite sides of the charges.
They are forced to flee the courthouse when gunfire erupts, and Alexander rescues her from being killed.
He sequesters her at his home, but she escapes, is captured which leads to a heated intimate exchange between the two.
The story unfolds with plenty of twists, betrayal, treachery and surprise for both Alexander and Catherine.
This story has a great setting, wonderfully complex characters, and real attraction between the characters,
This story is binge read worthy.

I really enjoyed this story,but then Piper Stone is one of my favorite authors and I love mafia story's the best Catherine and Alexander were made for each other,neither one could stand the crap that was thrown their way.Both are strong individuals and together they a force that can't be broken.She was supposed be his attorney for some trump up charge,she knew he was a criminal even before the case was dump into her lap,but she brought for him any way.So many secrets, like why was his late father meeting the Russo Paham without his guards the day he was gunned down,why the day Catherine and Alexander were in court was a gun pointed in her face,why when they were at the club someone was trying to snatched her.This story was a mystery a very good one at that,a very happy one!

This is Book 1 of the Orchestrated Corruption series and what a way to start! I love this dark mafia world and the characters are totally unhinged and I loved them.

Alexander undoubtedly will make your panties melt. His obsession with Catherine has no chill and it's HOT! She puts up a valiant fight but there's no resisting this delicious man. Right away their meet-cute banter and verbal sparring were spot on and reeled me in keeping me hooked from beginning to end with all the delicious spice and action.

When the courtroom is under attack Alexander takes her away both to protect her, but also because he is intrigued by her and needs to help to find out who really took out his father. Just the right blend of action and mystery, a little mafia tension, so much chemistry between the two main characters, a lot of love, and a HEA for the two make this a great start in the series.

She is stunned when he is put on trial for the murder of his father. He admits the accusation is fabricated. Because of his father's murder, he is now the new head of the Prince Mafia. When he also saves her when shots ring out out of nowhere, their journey begins as they try to uncover the truth about who murdered his father and is framing him. There is suspense, action, danger, romance, chemistry, connection, and much more. Highly recommended!

This is the first book in the Orchestrated Corruption series and similar to the author's other books, this too was rich in plot and heavy in spice. In this story, we are introduced to Alexander and Catherine. Almost right off the bat, the story pulls you in and grips you tight. There's plenty of dark themes, including her spice, so I would definitely read the TWs before diving in. Beware, in all of this author's books, you get intense sp@nking. So, if that's not your cup of tea, I would skip this one. But outside of that, if you're looking for a relatively good balance between spice and plot, you'll like this one. Overall, it's a good read.

New Orleans is the setting for Illicit Vows. It's the perfect place for a Family to settle. The swamps hide many secrets and they tell no tales. Alexander Prince and the Prince Family have a battle on their hands in order to maintain control but they're in the perfect place place to hide those secrets. Then we add Catherine to the mix. Combining to the two families is brilliant! Illicit Vows is fantastic and having it set in The Big Easy is even better. Great characters, great story and all the voodoo Grandmother can conjure make for a heckuva ride!

What a great start to this series. Set in New Orleans, it has all the mysticism of hoodoo and voodoo associated with this amazing and vibrant city. I was instantly hooked by the witty banter and fire and ice dynamic between them. Catherine is a feisty and determined prosecutor and finds herself up against the hot and powerful defendant Alexander. I loved that fate kept playing a role and throwing them together. Both Alex and Catherine find themselves in the cross hairs of an unknown enemy. The push and pull between them was addictive. The witty banter and defiance was almost comical. Balanced perfectly with high stakes suspense, shocking secrets, and sizzling hot chemistry. Another magnificent Piper Stone dark mafia romance!

Loved It!

Wow! An engaging page-turning read from page one until the very last page.
I love the setting in New Orleans, the storyline is intense and full of sizzle and passion, danger and a few twists you won’t see coming.

Alexander is a brutal man, cold in his ways but for some reason Catherine is the one person who he can’t and won’t resist.

Their wild journey into love is intense, steamy and so addictive, you won’t want the story to end.

Man Piper needs to slow down I can’t keep up with these filthy,hot and possessive men🫠. Alexander and Catherine were off the charts with all that steam.🥵The way the story played out was soooo freaking good it did not disappoint well at least me it didn’t.🤭I can’t wait to see how Emmeline’s story plays out if it’s not with Russo’s surgeon son I feel like it will be Ivan Barishnikoff or his friend there’s so many good options🤯. This series is going to be fire!!.

Yet another fabulous read from Piper. I was totally hooked from the first until the last page and was left wanting for more. I think Alexander has just become a good amongst book boyfriends, the chemistry between the two sizzling and hot, their connection off the charts, wild and unbridled. The storyline quite unique for a mafia romance but full of twists you didn’t see coming, so well written that it was too good to end. Wow…….

The plot was intriguing and intense and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. The characters drove the storyline and they were very compelling and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Is the new head of the Prince mafia guilty? He saves her when gunfire rings out and refuses to let her go. Their chemistry is just as explosive in the steamy mafia romance! Strong characters and a Louisiana setting make for a captivating read.
