I was hired to work for him. I never expected to crave his control.
Grayson Cole is power wrapped in restraint—every word precise, every emotion locked down. I see him when no one else the discipline, the silence, the way his gaze lingers when we’re alone.
The tension between us isn’t reckless—it’s deliberate. Every look held too long. Every argument charged with what we refuse to say.
He warns me he’s dangerous. That crossing this line would cost me everything.
But I don’t fall for him because he’s powerful. I fall because he never uses that power on me— Until the moment he finally does.
And when I give in, I won’t just risk my job. I’ll risk losing control.
This book is the perfect fast-paced fake fiancé, enemies-to-lovers storyline that makes the story wonderful. Although the spice level was relatively low (maybe a 2, at most), I loved how the storyline kept moving, and characters were weaving in and out of each other. I will say it annoyed me that I felt Grayson (MMC) was playing with the FMC’s heart a little. They would kiss, and then he would pull away and ignore her for days. What are we - in elementary/primary school? And then when they decided they were going to give it a shot, it was I LOVE YOU, almost immediately followed by a quick proposal and wedding. I did enjoy the storyline, though I received an advance review copy for free, but I am leaving this review honestly and voluntarily.
Brother best friend and long time crush are 2 of my favorite tropes. I loved how Grayson needed control due to his position at work. Slowly that control would go away and POP right back into place. After a grueling time of staying in control will Grayson choose to let it go and fight or does work become everything? Read this book to find out!
I liked this book. It read easily and kept me entertained. I thought you could really feel the sparks and pull of attraction between the characters. Some tension, drama and a bit of heat round out what I felt was a good book.
