Civil war is brewing, but Harmonia's dungeon might end Yorel before the first banner is raised.

Len steps out of Kreni Hall without Rick or the other Titans, Daniela, and Dennis.

King Eardin, whose death sparked the Plynthia Civil War in his last life, is alive and well, summoning Rick to a ball in Eskon City. A ball where he aims to reassert his dominion as King of Plynthia.

An outcome that neither his sons nor their supporters desire. Rick is needed, and Len will go. Now is not the time Goran wants to be drawing the attention of others. Not when their focus is on Harmonia's growing threat.
They've changed the Titans' fates, brought Dennis and Daniela into the fight, and pushed their skills past anything they had in their last lives.

It's not enough. Harmonia dungeon spawns Rare grade creatures, over a hundred levels stronger than even Len. The Goran Army has been growing stronger, but not strong enough to face this threat head-on.

If the dungeon's creatures ever break free, nothing on Yorel can stop them.

Threshold doesn't just guard Goran or Plynthia—it's the line between Yorel and annihilation. If the dungeon's creatures escape, if Threshold falls, Yorel falls with it.

They've already watched Yorel die once. If they fail to control Harmonia, they'll watch it happen again.

And this time, there's no reset.

Michael Chatfield is a Canadian Army veteran and international bestselling author who writes the kind of books he always wanted to read—character-driven, gritty, tactical, and grounded in reality.

He doesn’t write one-dimensional killers wrapped in plot armor, charging toward an objective without thought. His stories are built for readers who want earned progression, tight, understandable logic, and realistic strategy. Every stat system has structure. Every decision is deliberate (except when there is Jaeger involved).

And the pacing? It's locked at two hundred percent. From alleyway brawls to starship armadas clashing over galactic sovereignty, from tactical dungeon assaults to city-states warring over a continent’s fate—Chatfield commits to every battle like it’s his last.

With millions of books and audiobooks sold, and tens of thousands of reviews his work spans LitRPG, military sci-fi, fantasy, and post-apocalyptic survival. He writes for readers who value systems that make sense, loyalty that lasts, and power that’s earned, not handed out.

Whether you're listening on a long drive, grinding through a shift, or up past midnight planning the next in-game raid—this is where you’ll find sagas to binge. Where strength is earned, logic rules, and camaraderie is forged in fire.

butcher’s bill

Civil war mixed with dungeons bursting makes for a lot of blood.

Entertaining, but not amazing. I will still pre-order the next book.

Damn, typical Michael Chatfield. "Let's come up with an interesting premise" (two guys on the verge of death thrown back 100 years before the beginning of an apocalyptic event, to see if they can change things).
Then, let's ramp it up for book two. "Oh, he didn't really do that, did he?". (Yes, he did.)
Then for book three, "Let's have them find their old dungeoneering group, change their lives and have them help us with this apocalyptic event." (Wow, that happened?)
Then in book 4 - this book, let's have some political maneuvering, a world ending battle - (Yes, he did - again). But wait, he's not done, because now - he's making me wait for the fifth book.
That my friends, is why he is in the top three of my favorite LitRPG authors. I'm hoping this goes to at least 10 books. Len and Rick have a long way to go, and it's only been about a year - maybe, that they've been back. The stakes have been raised.
Oh, if, like me, you are waiting for the fifth book - might I suggest his other series "The Ten Realms", starting with "The Two Week curse." That one is finished with 12 books (yes I know - it says "10 Realms", right in the title - but you know how these authors are.). Happy Reading!

It's good

If you like the previous books in the series, you're going to like this one. If you didn't, I don't know why you kept reading. This book is really nice because there is plenty of fighting in it. There's lots of battles. Lots of action. There's a little bit of setup for the battles which is what you need and they do some really nice establishment of how far things have advanced in building up the city building up the army technology and stuff like that. He lays everything out really nice and then we're off to war and it's great. Looking forward to the next book. I'd say what that's about, but I don't want to ruin anything for you. I try not to have any spoilers in my review other than Express how much I enjoyed the book and I really enjoyed this one. I apologize also for any spelling errors on my list of youth voice to text

Build up to war.

Good continuation of the series , the titans exit the training hall and work on their new knowledge , Princess Bethany enters the story and promises to be interesting as her stupid brothers drag the country into civil war and anarchy. Lucius and the Velkarus traders are going from strength to strength and Lady Carolyn and Goran are stabilising their position , Harmonia constantly lurks in the background ready to explode at any minute.
Really enjoyed the book especially the build up to the civil war and the titans story , Harmonia is obviously crucial but seem to take up a lot of the story and why the defenders crucial engineer is allowed with a mile of a war zone in a mystery.

elite edition to the series

It started off a bit slower than his other books from what I can remember and around the middle, the prose got a little repetitive with some back and forths of the “it’s not just this — (m dash) it’s that!” dialogue style that just feels lazy in this genre. But I kind of know why he did it because if I had outlined an ending that good I would also speed through writing the middle section.

The ending is one of the best battle scenes I think I’ve ever read, and the resolution has some sublime prose, got me feeling the emotions. Very good stuff.

Another great read by Chatfield

This is the 4th book in his new series. The story is well written. The characters are great. I'm not the best at writing reviews. I'll try for a good book. I really feel like I'm on the journey with them. I like the camaraderie between the 2 main characters. I don't want to spoil the book so I'll just say it's worth the read.

The Disaster Waves Begin

Len and Rick have had a lot of success building up their home, their families, and their adventuring team.
Now is when things go wrong. Royal summons, dungeon overflow, and civil war all queue up to take swings at pur heroes and all they have built.
Looking forward to the next one.

Still very much worth reading.

Another very good book in the series. I am never disappointed by Chatfield's books. I have nothing but praise and appreciation for his storytelling abilities.
I cannot recommend this and all of his books highly enough. If you ain't pleased with his books, you are wrong.

Len and his friend Rich continue to prepare the world for a massive apocalypse of mana bursting out of storms and dungeons. They both got new lives after they died when this happened previously. They found themselves in their 18-year-old bodies with all their knowledge of years of surviving when the apocalypse first occurred.

Now, in the fourth book, they must prepare for and face the first dungeon outbreak. Powerful creatures, twice as strong as Len and Rich, come boiling out of the dungeon by the thousands.

And there's a civil war going on in their country, at the same time.

Rich and Len have prepared a fortress and a city to withstand the outbreak. Will it be strong enough, or must they destroy all their work to save the world?
