This one is about Jacob and his life with narcolepsy, and it hangs out in that weird in-between space where you’re not fully asleep but not really awake either. Things start to blur together, and it keeps you a little off-balance the whole time, which just makes sense for this kind of story.
As someone who’s dealt with sleep issues forever, I always appreciate when books actually sit with that struggle instead of just using it as a gimmick. This stuff can be really isolating, and it’s hard to explain to people what it does to your brain and your life. I really hope this is the start of seeing more stories that dig into that.
This was a thoughtful debut, and I’m glad I got to check it out. Congrats again on Pub Day!
