In public, the Senate clamours for war. Voices rise, demands are made, and calls for punitive legions echo through the chamber. But behind closed doors, the emperor is far more cautious. Eastern Germania remains an unknown quantity, a land of forests without roads and enemies who refuse to stand and fight. Even if Rome sends its legions, there is no guarantee they will all return.
Claudius will not gamble thousands of lives on ignorance.
Instead, he sends for the Occultum.

Excellent read as the Occultum are sent to find out who is killing traders and armies sent to find what is happening .
There is always a dangerous mission and the Occultum are ready for the journey ,a very tense journey as they meet with those responsible and given a time to rescue the Trible leaders kidnapped Daughter to save many lives .
Very well written and compulsive reading as tensions rise .
Brilliant as always and the way the team work soo well together ,highly recommend ,always ready for more .

Gripping
Well this book is totally different from the usual.
The tension the soldiers were under must have been mind numbing, I could almost feel it. Each book in the series is a different story. Buy this book it’s worth the read

a masterpiece

Por fin llegué, al menos de momento, al final de esta saga. Y digo "de momento" porque descubrí que el autor planea publicar dos libros más en 2027. Al enterarme de ello también comprendí algo que venía sospechando desde hace varias entregas: la velocidad con la que publica explica muchos de los problemas que arrastra la serie. La corta distancia entre un libro y otro da la impresión de que la prioridad es producir más títulos antes que pulir los ya escritos. No puedo afirmarlo con certeza, pero sí ayuda a entender las inconsistencias, errores de continuidad y decisiones narrativas cuestionables que se han repetido a lo largo de la saga.
Lo positivo es que finalmente abandona las sectas, conspiraciones y misterios heredados de los libros previos para trasladar la trama a un conflicto fronterizo mucho más creíble e interesante. Además, se agradece que tome inspiración en una fuente histórica antigua y que dedique más espacio al final del libro para explicar el origen de algunos elementos de la novela. Es un detalle que he echado en falta durante gran parte de la saga y que aporta un valor añadido a la lectura.
Sin embargo, los problemas de fondo continúan presentes. Las inconsistencias en la línea temporal siguen apareciendo y algunos personajes parecen actuar según las necesidades de la trama más que por una evolución coherente. A estas alturas ya no sorprende, pero sí confirma que varios de los defectos observados en los libros anteriores no eran casos aislados, sino una constante dentro de la forma en que el autor construye sus historias.
