On Winter Winds: A Christmas Prequel Novella

Rate this book
Benjamin "Hawk" Hawkthorne made a deathbed promise to his brother-in-arms on the night fire consumed the battlefield.
Bound by grief, survivor's guilt, and a vow he will not break, Hawk has learned to live behind walls of silence—sealing his heart off to hope and keeping God at arm's length. When he leaves Louisiana before Christmas for the frozen mountains of Snowfall Ridge, Colorado, he isn't running from his past. He's honoring it.

Even if it costs him everything.

But winter has a way of revealing what refuses to stay buried.
MacKenzie "Mac" Stone has survived the past year by holding her world together one careful day at a time. Since losing her midnight-twin brother and her livelihood, she's anchored herself to routine, resilience, and the cherished traditions of the family ranch. Christmas has always been holy ground—a season of remembrance and trust in God's goodness. Until a battle-scarred stranger arrives honoring a promise made in fire, unsettling everything she's worked to protect.

Neither is searching for love.
But the God who restores what grief fractured has other plans.

When the Christmas season brings two shattered hearts together and one promise becomes holy, will the legacy of the man who bound them become the very thing that joins them in love?
Or will it demand everything—and destroy them both?

Perhaps even at the price of life.

A faith-centered Christmas love story about sacrifice, obedience, and divine timing—where loss becomes the unexpected path to hope, and love arrives as sacrifice.

There is so much to like and so much potential with "On Winter Winds." I love a good military romance! There is so much more to learn about Mac and Hawk in the next book ... or so I hope. I really want to know both their backstories in detail. This totally was a 4 star book but the editing needs to be polished up a bit. The last chapter had multiple pages repeated and some contradictory paragraphs sprinkled throughout the story - easy fix with some editing or formatting. Overall, a great dive into a new author for me. I look forward to the full length novel in 2026.
