When I first read Vicious Impulses, Book 1 in The Capo and the Ballerina Duet, I immediately fell in love with the story. Captivated by the characters and the plot, I devoured that story quickly. It was dark, mafia, and had a mysterious, alpha/possessive MMC. The story left on a cliffhanger, and I patiently waited for Book 2, Brutal Impulses, and it was definitely well worth the wait. Author Sienne Vega did what, at times, I find challenging for the next book in a series or duet—will it hold up? In this case, it not only upheld the integrity of the dark mafia storyline but also carried emotion that tugged at heartstrings.

I loved what Sienne did with Cael and Naveah’s characters in Book 2. This is one duet that I will be re-reading more than once and recommending multiple times.

A murky world where no one is trustworthy.

Despite the blacker than black opening, there was a strong thread of hope throughout this book. The love that Naveah & Caelian manage to maintain for each other, in spite of some truly horrific revelations & betrayals, is what lifts it. Both of them discover things about their respective families that I'm sure they wouldn't have recovered from had they not had the strength gifted to them by the other.

Sienne Vega manages to bring light to a very dark story, that at times has made for some uncomfortable moments, but ultimately you find yourself drawn to the characters & wanting the outcome to be in their favour. She manages to keep a tight rein on the unfolding events, even when it seems as if the darkness is in danger of overwhelming everything. All in all, I will happily return to her work knowing that I will get a great story, well told. And there's not a better reason for it than that!

I was entertained and disturbed at the same time. The first half of the book was. . . . .something. A little bit too cruel at times. That through me off a lot. The characters were well developed and their chemistry was chef's kiss. A solid 3 star read for me.

Side note - his “condition” didn’t match his symptoms. The inaccuracy was annoying.

Brutal Impulses is a wild ride! The conclusion of Caelian and Naveah’s story is an excellent action packed adventure. Sienne had me clutching my pearls in shock the mysteries were unfolding and just when I thought I’d figured everything out another twist came along. I loved this book so much and yes it was extremely spicy. A definite must read!

Worth the wait?

I waited ages for book 2 to be released; and it was sort of worth it. I think I will have to read both books again at some point. As the gap between books was so long. There was a lot happening in book two, which made for a page turner in parts. The last 3 chapters were sweet.

One of the best mob stories I've read in awhile.

This story was worth the wait. There was real live mob action on the page. Some writers can't write a fight scene to save their lives.
