Book Two in The Singularity Series! There are consequences for everything...

Caesar Wells takes the mantle of The Named’s leader, and after six months of intense preparation, begins his assault on The Genesis, intent on destroying the artificial intelligence that enslaves humanity.

Others around Caesar have intentions as well, though. Those inside The Named that don’t trust Caesar. Those inside The Named that would rather him die than lead. Caesar, focused only on his end goal, can’t see the signs of rising insurrection all around him.

The Genesis possesses its own plan--one that will lead Caesar directly to it, in a confrontation that Caesar can’t possibly prepare for.

As Caesar readies for battle, dark storm clouds of unseen forces are mixing together, all of them ready to destroy the one man dedicated to giving humanity back its freedom.

I used to deliver pizza. I was pretty good at it, too. I mean, it's not that hard, but if I'm not going to brag, who is, right? Anyways, so I'm delivering pizza while I'm in college, and my boss has been in the pizza industry like six years. He's supposed to graduate from college this year, and I ask him, what are you going to do after college? We're all supposed to go out and conquer the world right after college, so this guy has to have some kind of plan.

He looked at me like I was delusional.

"I'm a writer, man."

Those four words changed my life more so than anything else ever spoken to me.
I'd always written, since I was twelve participating in online-wrestling forums in which you acted out your character. I wrote because it came naturally. Never once, in the entirety of my nineteen years did I think that writing could be a career though, until a Pizza Sage said those four words to me.

So what did I do? I went home and wrote a short story and immediately understood that I was the greatest writer to ever touch a keyboard. I brought it to the Pizza Sage and he told me what anyone could have told me--it was horrible. I might be dumb, probably am, but I'm also tenacious.

I spent the next seven years writing almost every day. My first novel grew to the length of 40,000 words, then I threw it away. My second novel grew to 140,000 words. I didn't throw it away, but it was rejected about 50 times by agents. My next novel ended up at around 55,000 words, which I showed to a few friends and shelved. Then I wrote Dead Religion, which is the only reason I have an author page at Amazon.

I have had four short stories published, paid and unpaid. 'Effects May Vary' won an award that was voted on by readers, which was pretty cool.

I'm currently getting my Masters in Business at the University of Georgia's Terry School of Business. I'm doing this in order to not deliver pizzas but still keep the lights on. I have a girlfriend who will soon be my fiancé, and after ten years, I imagine she's ready for that title.

I want to own a yacht.

Such a great book! Much more intense than the first, the betrayal, the little options Caesar had and the hard decisions had to make, it really made me want to power through to see what would happen.
The only critic I have, and it's a very small one, is that it was too short! But I'm sure there's a reason for that, need the third book now!

Truly excellent sci-fi series. I actually paid for the third installment (emissaries) before I finished Traitor. Best compliment I can give an author.

This book continues immediately where the first in the series left off. See my earlier review of Heretic for background. In action in this volume moves along at a faster pace than in the first, and the number of characters and their attendant interactions increases and become more complex, drawing the reader more deeply into their world.

This book, like the first, ends abruptly in a cliffhanger. I'm fully invested, so on to book 3, Emissaries!

Oh man. I had to stop reading this book in the middle. The story line is awesome, but the writing needs help. There is zero character development and the characters get stuck in mental thought loops, having the same conversation over and over again. The depth of characters just isn’t there for me.

I don't remember if the same narrator did the first book, but I just didn't like his voice. It sounded like the narrator just got a new pair of dentures.

Awesome book!

Couldn't stop reading this book! And now onto the next, which I'm sure will be just as well exciting. Thanks for the good read!

SOMEONE BETRAYS THE CAUSE. This is the second book in The Singularity series. While you can start reading the series with this book, I highly recommend that you read Book 1 first. This book starts off from where Book 1 ends, so you will be confused if you don't read Book 1 first. The book ends in what I'd call a soft cliffhanger. This book ends with a cliffhanger and is not a standalone.

Premise of series - One thousand years in the future the world is controlled by The Genesis (an artificial intelligence) and everyone is programmed to think and act in the same ways. The Genesis is "The Singularity." It is an intelligence that is everywhere at the same time and controls everything. The Genesis wants average, it doesn't want people who are too dumb or too smart. Free thinkers are not allowed.

Book 2 continues the story about how Caesar Wells tried to save humanity. Will he succeed or will The Genesis find him and liquidate him before he has a chance? He has escaped, well technically he was kidnapped and taken, out of a city controlled by The Genesis. He finds himself out in the desert with The Named which is a group of others like him who also are too intelligent. One of The Named betrays Caesar and what the group is trying to do. Will anyone survive to continue the fight for humanities future as free people?

Great Read, Better than the first...

The Singularity: Traitor, an alternative universe/timeline story by David Beers is an excellent read. It really helps if you have read the first book in the series (The Singularity: Heretic). As before with the first book, you get drawn in from the start. I read Traitor in two days. I couldn't put it down.

The storyline was well written, flowing from one page to the next. The characters were well defined, allowing you to relate to their thoughts and turmoil while dealing with the world they lived in. The "Traitor" made me wishing he would just die at times, to me that is exactly what a protagonist makes you feel if they are truly evil, in their delusional self absorbed mentality anyway. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and family.

It is WAY better than the first, I can't wait to read what happens next.

Books in this Series are:
The Singularity: Heretic [Book 1]
The Singularity: Traitor [Book 2]
The Singularity: Emissaries [Book 3]
The Singularity: Revolutionary [Book 4]

I loved The Singularity Heretic and David Beers is one of my favorite authors, but the Singularity Traitor missed the mark by a little bit.

Traitor's weakness is the first third of the book, when first Caesar and then Manny can't make a decision. They hem and haw, consider and reconsider, can't decide, and reconsider some more. The plot really drags for a bit.

After that, though, it's classic Beers. The narrative races and there is tons of actions. I think his biggest strength is so take a character the reader would otherwise like and give them a plot occurrence that turns them wholly unlikable. Manny is one of his best examples of this so far. Readers are really going to hate Manny.

The story continues on from where it stopped at the end of Book 1 in the series. Caesar now lives with a special group of humans, ones led by the ancient and part-cyborg Jerry. Is he the one they have been waiting for? Can he do what is necessary? Can he undergo a similar transformation to what has enabled Jerry to live for 1000 years? Can he stop The Genesis? Not everything goes according to plan, however, as there is a traitor in their midst, driven initially by jealousy, and his actions mean that life just got very dangerous and very complicated.

Very good book 2 of the series and I now understand why it is called "A Thriller" in the title as there was much more suspense and action than book 1. Book 1 provided the necessary background to the story which really pulled me in and book 2 moved the story along at a quick fast pace with a cliff hanger so must read book 3 to find out what happens...

The books are very short and my only suggestion would be to combined them into one larger sectioned novel...

This is a really fun series!

I've read first three--definitely worth the investment in time and minimal cost. And you really can get a free book if you sign up to the author's mailing list!!

I was skeptical until her wrote me back and sent one :) fun experience :) I had never thought of writing an author before, he seems like a really nice guy.

Singularity 2

What a story! I am totally hooked and can't wait to read the next book. The plot line is amazing. What a great imagination the author has! How can he continue to create such imaginative stories? He pulls you into the tale with unforeseen twists and turns. Now on to the third book ...

I liked the book but it ends in a cliffhanger (-1 star) in the middle of the story. These books are a bit too slim for their full price (-1 star). I will read the others too if I find them in a discount from kindle store.

Repetitive

I really enjoyed book one and I enjoyed a lot about book 2 but I got bored with the repetitive nature of the storyline.
