Another Aubrey Taylor book that I finished and that finished me. I'm continually reminded of her ability to write beautifully heart wrenching characters and stories, in any amount of pages. Their journeys feel real and human, but still provide that solace we seek when we read. I'm so thankful for Riona's novella, it felt essential to read this piece of her story. The atomic bomb part definitely hit its mark. I'm curious to see how Brighton has changed over time in Brown Sugar Espresso Martini.

I would just like to preface this review with that fact that this novella may be small but man does it pack a mighty punch. I feel like I got my heart ripped out and then punched repeatedly. But all that to say is that this novella has been added to one of my favorite pieces of writing that Aubrey has ever done. The way she captured the emotional impact of this story as well as this spice in only 15 chapters?! Like what is she a wizard?!

Riona Cody has been and will always be my favorite female character in the Hornets Nest universe. She may not have a lot of page time but she’s a hell of a side character and I’m so happy that we got a deeper insight into who she is and the things she’s gone through. She deserved her story to be told and Aubrey did that for us. 🥹

I loved this novella so much and if you want to read please please PLEASE read the Hornets Nest series first bc you’ll hopefully understand why I love this novella and Riona so much.

One thing about Aubrey she will deliver on absolutely everything. Everyone has been so curious of Silas and Riona’s past and boy did she give us everything we wanted and more.

I am a whore for Silas so I will devour every mention of him, it’s nice to know he’s always had his filthy mouth and tendencies to mark his partners.

Riona is the queen we have all come to love and has always been a queen. She has been through so much in her life and has remained this strong unique woman through it all.

This was the perfect holiday read but god was I sobbing so hard through some parts. But it wouldn’t be an Aubrey book without the sadness.

Thank you for writing books that become so ingrained into my mind and life. I love you for it.

All I need, Honey

Ugh I am glad we got this story but now I feel bad because I really love Silas and Drew together.
I didn't know that Bright was her ex-husband and that they lost each other because of war. Yes this story had a TON of spice but it also had a ton of heartbreak. I am glad that in the end Riona found herself again and kept her promise to take her daughter to Ireland.

Need a book that plunges into your chest and rips your heart and soul out? This is it.

Aubrey has done it again, a surprise Christmas novella that is spicy, sweet and full of so many tears. She genuinely astonished me with everything she writes because it all just gets better and better.

A million stars, and a million tears.

Here’s the thing about Aubrey Taylor books, novellas or not. She packs so much into these characters. You cannot help but be rooting for them the entire time. This was such a pleasant surprise in the series to connect the Nest with the HillCats series, and to also give some more insight into Riona. LOVED IT!
