An FBI cyber analyst framed for murder. A Guardian operator sent to get her out alive.
Savannah Cross is an FBI cybercrime analyst who was never meant to be in the field — until the night her own agency turns on her. Framed for murder, hunted by mercenaries wearing federal badges, she's running with the only evidence that can stop a coordinated domestic terror attack.
Her last call goes to a shadow organization that doesn't exist on paper. They send Sawyer "Hawk" Morrison.
A Guardian HRS operator with scars burned into his skin and guilt carved just as deep, Hawk specializes in impossible extractions — and in walking away before anything turns personal. But Savannah isn't a helpless asset. She fights back with intelligence, nerve, and a lethal creativity that leaves even him stunned.
From San Francisco rooftops to a hidden mountain safe house, the threat isn't only the ticking clock or the enemies closing in. It's the pull between them — the kind that ignites under pressure and doesn't ask permission.
She's brilliant, hunted, and carrying secrets that could collapse a nation. He's lethal, controlled, and sworn to protect her at any cost. And when trust becomes the most dangerous weapon of all, desire may be the one thing neither can afford.

Hawk by Ellie Masters is a short, fast paced, high intensity romantic suspense novella, which is a great blend of danger, devotion, and high heat chemistry. Savannah Cross is an FBI cyber analyst, who stumbles onto something she was never meant to see. Sawyer “Hawk” Morrison, is the Guardian HRS operator sent to extract her.
Savannah uncovers a massive domestic terror conspiracy. She reports it through proper channels, but the FBI turns on her and instead of being protected, Savannah is framed for murder and a kill team wearing federal badges comes after her. She calls Guardian HRS who send Hawk to extract her. But Savannah is not what Hawk expected, she’s not a passive asset, she’s not helpless – he finds her fighting for her life, with everything she has.
Savannah can’t trust the FBI or law enforcement. She can’t trust anyone, but under fire and as they go on the run hunted by mercenaries and corrupt agents, she must trust Hawk. The bond they build, the instant connection, the burning chemistry they have, and protective instincts, “I’ve got you” energy, trauma bonding that evolves is something real.
Savannah and Hawk’s journey is an emotional, unexpectedly tender and high intensity romance. As you would expect from any guardian HRS book its fast, tense and action driven full of danger, devotion, chemistry, and healing.
Hawk/Sawyer and Savannah/Savi. Savi is an FBI analyst, but she is not someone who only is behind a computer. Hawk is a Guardian, but I wasn’t sure if he was a personal protector or part of the briefly mentioned Echo team. Regardless, he is a veteran who likes the mission of protecting and helping others. Their first meeting is in the midst of violence and the story never drops that component as many powerful people are after Savannah and the information she found regarding a plot that would kill thousands of Americans. Their chemistry is immediate, but they play it odd as adrenaline at first, until it is clear it is more to both. Frost and Flint and CJ are featured in this story and do a great job of showing the loyalty and skillset the Guardians embody. I flew through the story and loved being back in the Guardian world!
This book is one adrenaline rush after another. Savannah found something she shouldn't have and now, people want her kept quiet...permanently. Savannah is with the FBI. Betrayal comes from the most unexpected place. HAWK gets there just in time to save her from the first wave of would be assassins. He has her doing things she wouldn't normally do in a million years. They are attracted to each other but, it's only been a few days since they met. Things have been chaotic to say the least. Somehow, they stay a step ahead of the bad guys. When back-up arrives, things happen fast. Savannah has no choice but to bring her A game to stop a catastrophe. Through it all, HAWK and Savannah never lost sight of each other. Can the feelings they have survive if and possibly when the noise dies down? Get this book and find out. Sorry, no spoilers.
This was a fast paced and enjoyable experience for reading.Hawk works for HRS and is sent to rescue an FBI agent who believes she has been compromised. Savannah seems to be trapped by those after her but Hawk manages to arrive to help. They manage to be extracted and taken to a drop off point where Hawk picks up a vehicle to get to their temporary shelter. But in less than 24 hours they are found.
I think Hawk is my favorite of the GHRS short reads. The high stakes adrenaline out in the wild is breathtaking. Savannah is a surprise to the reader as well as Hawk and his teammates. The "hit the ground running" and closed proximity for Sawyer and Savannah is the perfect recipe for attraction. Making them a perfect team without years of training. They move like a well oiled machine as virtual strangers, making their story very fast paced. Love it!
Love these insta-attraction short mission HEA stories!

Another guardian who comes to the rescue And providing a good short read
I love these guardian series books they're not long books but they pk a lot in them. I like the characters they're people that I would hope is watching our defenses if they were real. Each guardian has a special quality or something that keeps driving them, hawk is no different Past failures make him more alert and more driven. This story while it was short was engaging. A worthwhile read.
Hawk is sent on a solo mission to extract Savannah from a hit to kill her and recover her computer. Hawk arrives to find her dealing with mercenaries in her apartment, but she manages to kill three of them with ordinary kitchen supplies. They manage to escape but the hostiles keep pursuing and locating them time and again. Great suspense and loads of action. I really enjoy these short reads. They are so fast paced and ridiculously entertaining. Loved it!
Savi a woman who can stand on her own in a fight and an FBI analyst. Hawk a protector who has been sent to her by a call from a friend from the CIA to the GHR. Together they are unstoppable. The sparks are flying and race against time is a rollercoaster. Vividly written and in a fast paste. I enjoyed it very much and read this in one go. I could not stop.
Buckle up people. Hawk is one heck of a fast-paced, adrenaline pumping, danger filled andcsteamy ride. Sawyer and Savannah instantly connect. She's been betrayed and he's been sent to extract her. Honestly, this is such an absorbing story that I read it in one quick sitting. You just can't go wrong with an Ellie Masters book!
This book was very similar to Flint’s story. Great couple, they work well together. And they fall for each other immediately. She’s been betrayed by her FBI boyfriend when she discovers a secret deadly project he’s working on. He tries to kill her but Savannah can take care of herself.
Fast-paced, action-packed, and sexy! Savannah's a force to be reckoned with, and Hawk's not complaining 😉. This short read packs a punch, with a heroine who fights back and a hero who's all in. Ellie Masters delivers a thrilling ride! 🤓
2.5 stars It’s short and fast paced. But, multiple page intimate scenes while the world is crashing around them and bullets are flying. Ridiculous. So many intimate scenes the actual story could have been 50 pages less. So I found it mostly silly.
Fantastic story!!! Amazing action scenes from her and him. Lots of steamy romance scenes. Can not wait to get Made next. This series is full of dramatic action, some humor and love!!! Great job Ellie!!!!!!
intense , awesome , and full of intrigue, with a love relation built with trust , care and honesty that brings the 2 together thru their rescue adventure.. wonderful short read
Enjoying the quick short novellas with the Guardian HRS teams. Hawk and Savannah's story is a fast-paced rescue and escape whilst trying to destroy Prometheus!
So … normally I enjoy GHR books whether short or long. This time I was distracted by the insta lust/love that happened in short of one hour. I understand the adrenaline rush caught up in a hero rescue completely but this was a bit fast for me. The story was great but was overshadowed. Anyway … I still like Ellie Masters stories about GHR and look forward to the next book of hers.
