My work frenemy stole my promotion, so I cashed in my shares and bought a bookshop with a possessive dragon problem. Oops.
Oh, and he’s an infuriatingly attractive dragon whose magic grows stronger with every book I stock. He insists the shop is his hoard and flat-out refuses to leave.
Fine. Guess I’ll put him to work.
Except his idea of “work” is reorganizing my shelves by vibes instead of my carefully planned system. Worse, his taste in literature is atrocious, and he forbids me from displaying modern romances, though I’ve definitely caught him reading them.
Now, shady looking men are asking questions about him. But for all our bickering, I can’t ignore what we a fierce love of stories that has made us into something more than just reluctant roommates. He says they’re dragon hunters, and the more they pressure me, the more I believe him. When they threaten to burn down my cozy little shop unless I turn him in, I realize something impossible…
I’m ready to become the knight in shining armor my dragon never expected.
Prepare for a slow-burn enemies to lovers with a possessively deranged, spiteful dragon and a meek to strong heroine in this cozy, small-town Wisconsin booklovers romance.
Ember loves all things with heat! A glass of wine, a comfy, oversized sweater, and a spicy book next to a fireplace is her ideal night. She likes to read about powerful heroines and protective heroes, and write about them, too.
When she’s not writing, Ember is a fox in the henhouse, causing all kinds of hell. She enjoys making pasta while listening to big brass bands, taking long walks with her favorite audio books, playing D&D, and painting—but not very well.
Some of Ember’s favorite authors include Laura Thalassa, Shannon Mayer, and Raven Kennedy. Their powerful heroines inspire her daily to get out of bed and to do her best (or stay in it to keep reading!)
Ok first of all… let me just say this book made me cry… like literal tears and not because it was sad or heartbreaking, no. The fact that the MFC was literally made more human and had literal real life woman issues. I connected with her struggles so much that I cried… because at some point of my life I was her and I still struggle but not in the same way. I don’t think I’ve connected with a character this much and I honestly loved this. And I loved Caitlin. Now onto the rest…lol I loved Bastian and his possessive “this is my hoard and you are my hoard now, pink flesh human” attitude. It had me giggling. It was funny and felt so real and had me hooked.
Thank you to Ember Holt for sending me an early copy of the book!
I expected to enjoy did, but not nearly as much as I actually did. I'm obsessed, and I now need 15 more books in the same universe.
I would categorise this book as cosy monster smut. I really enjoyed the setting of the story, in such a small town that many things aren't easy to get, and you need to make friends fast if you want to prosper - which, thankfully, Caitlin did. I loved seeing her make a female friend, and how they supported each other in this story.
I also have to say, though having a main character working in the book industry is a common trop, Ember Holt made a difference by having Caitlin work less commonly depicted jobs (as a publicist, and as a book binder), and I can tell that she either has personal experience in these two fields or did extensive research, because what she wrote checks out. This is the level of accuracy I want to see in books I read.
The spice was also very well written. I'm exacting and picky when it comes to smut, but this one met my standards. It's definitely written with the female gaze in mind, and I loved the fact that Caitlin often took the initiative. Also, the door scene? If you know, you know, but I LOVED it.
I also have to say that the representation of the main character's disabilities are very well done, in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if Ember Holt had been through a round or three of sensitivity reads, which is a practice I want to see get a lot more common. I share some medical issues with Caitlin, and I felt seen and represented.
If you're looking for me, I'm on my way to get the first two books in the series, and waiting for the next!
Firstly, thanks to Ember for sending me this early copy.
Oh my! This has got to be my favourite of the three books so far! How I related to Caitlin was remarkable & how I also related to grumpy Bastian was also rather amusing.
Caitlin goes on the most wonderful, satisfying character journey. She's one of us, but actually realises her dream of owning a book shop (if only!). She's flawed, she's funny & she crafts! She resonated with me. I don't have the issues Cait has, but I do remember being there & many who also were. She's also a wonderful cat parent. It's not important to my review, but felt Oscar needed a mention. He's the true star.
Bastian is brooding, anti-social, blunt & likes to hide. All traits I also possess & he isn't a hugger. Yep, me too. He also goes on a journey to acceptance. In doing so, discovers friendship, acceptance & tolerance for human kind. He's also funny. I laughed on several occasions. One sticks with me, but no spoilers here.
As with the other books, spice levels are high, but the whole book vibe is cosy too. There's found family, good food & ultimately, lots of book talk. This is a book about a fledgling bookshop & the magic we would love to create if we readers had the chance.
On a final note, there's no need to read the other two books, but you should. I was so happy to see that previous characters made an appearance & the magic of this book universe appears to be growing. I cannot wait to see what happens next as I feel there's much more to come.
"Oh No! There’s a Dragon in my Bookshop" was such a cozy and enjoyable read. While the story has a warm, comforting atmosphere overall, it also includes moments of adventure and excitement that keep things engaging throughout.
One of my favorite parts of this book was how deeply I connected with the FMC. From her appearance and love of books to aspects of her health journey, there were so many pieces of her character that felt personal and relatable to me as a reader. That connection made the story even more immersive and emotionally engaging.
The MMC brings that classic, grumpy, quiet protector energy, along with a touch of enemies-to-lovers tension that worked really well with the overall tone of the story. The dynamic between the characters felt natural and fun to follow.
The cameos from other books in the series were such a fun addition. While these books absolutely work as standalones within the same universe, reading them in order adds extra depth and familiarity that longtime readers will appreciate.
And honestly, the cat was such a fantastic addition to the story. The humor and personality it brought to an already lively cast of characters made several scenes that much more memorable.
Overall, this was a charming, cozy fantasy with lovable and relatable characters, fun dynamics, and just enough adventure to keep the pages turning and leave me smiling by the end.
I received an advance review copy of this book and am sharing my honest thoughts voluntarily.
✨⭐⭐⭐⭐ ARC Review – Oh No! There’s a Dragon in My Bookshop by Ember Holt ✨
Thank you to the author for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. Oh No! There’s a Dragon in My Bookshop was such a cozy, charming, and heartwarming read that I couldn’t stop smiling while reading it. Ember Holt created the perfect blend of magical chaos, sweet romance, and lovable characters wrapped in an adorable bookshop setting. 📚🐉✨
This story had all the cozy fantasy vibes I love — quirky moments, gentle humour, magical mishaps, and a romance that felt soft and comforting while still keeping me fully invested. The dragon element added so much fun to the story, and honestly, I would happily live inside this little magical world forever.
The chemistry between the characters felt natural and wholesome, with plenty of tender moments that made my heart melt. I especially loved the found family energy and the warmth woven throughout the entire book. It felt like the literary equivalent of curling up under a blanket with a hot drink on a rainy day.
I’m giving this four stars because there were a few moments where I wanted a little more depth and expansion in the world-building, but overall this was such a delightful and comforting read that completely delivered on cozy fantasy magic.
If you love magical bookshops, dragons, cozy romance, found family, and feel-good fantasy stories, this one absolutely deserves a place on your shelf.

4* Please sign me up for every ARC of this series!!! :P Spicy cozy, lighthearted fantasy romance readers, if you haven't read the series, please do!!! Every book is a standalone, but if you read them in order, you get to actually appreciate the cameos! While this is another case of "not my kink" (on the spice side only), I can personally still put my seal of approval on this one. The main character is extremely relatable on so many levels (mild spoiler) , the humour is, as per usual, absolutely on point (at least for my generation!). I laughed, I cried, I flipped my sh*t in empathy, and most importantly: I DEVOURED the book! And yes, even if the spice wasn't always for me... I KNOW for certain it will appeal to other people. I really liked the male lead this time too, but I think the "partially blind" issue was glossed over, if not completely forgotten 70% of the time (one of the biggest weaknesses of the book in my opinion).
Jeesh Ember you really went sky high notches up on creativity on this edition. It made me oblivious to the world, reading non stop every available moment. Combining fantasy, magic, traumatic illness into a cosy smutty read that cracked me up with laughter numerous times. Yes, very spicy but not raunchy. The spice barometer much probably had a melt down... Lol. Caitlin and Bastian were adorable, but Oscar was a brilliant twist. Gotta love the cat. Renee and her hubs were the epitome of great friends, mundane but so accepting of the Other. Got to mention Renee's clothing style, painted a vivid picture and yes, it was hilarious. Yet the end wasn't near in this 300+pages as there's still an encounter with the 'Magical Police' after the hunters' numerous attacks, a family reunion, the claiming, yes fated mates and a big surprise or 2 in store followed. This was a master blast of entertainment. I want to thank Ember for the privilege of providing me with an advanced review copy and leave this review voluntary.
I love a good dragon story, and Bastian delivered on the protective possessiveness I expect of dragon heroes. While I wasn’t sure about his character in the beginning, he grew on me pretty quickly as I enjoyed his naïveté and fascination with Caitlin. Caitlin was a solid character as well, though her absolute nonchalance upon learning about the existence of the supernatural felt odd.
There were plenty of sweet, silly interactions, and the way Bastian and Caitlin grew both as individuals and as a couple was heartwarming. I also really liked Caitlin’s friends. They were so loyal and added another element of fun banter and lightheartedness. There were a few slower moments in the book, and the resolution to the climax was a bit strange. It didn’t feel like it flowed with the rest of the novel. However, the conclusion was sweet and satisfying.
Overall, this was an exciting and humorous supernatural romance, and I definitely recommend it. *I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.*
This book was fantastic! The banter! The enemies to lovers! The only sweet for her! I absolutely DEVOURED this book in one sitting, I loved it so much! This book had the perfect amount of chaos and “wtf” moments (Oscar 👀) to keep the story moving while also having the most tooth-achingly sweet and spicy MCs. I think this one is now my favorite of the series so far (I’m pretty sure I’ve said this after every book lol but they’re all so good!) I loved that we got to see the couples from the previous books for a little bit as well. I can’t wait to see where else this series goes! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 stars) 🌶️🌶️.5 (2.5/5 spice)

I shall now call all intrusive thoughts Jerry.
I LOVED this book! The cameos, the spice, the excellent plot, and of course the humor all make this book an amazing read. I loved Bastian so much and his love for Cait was the sweetest once he showed it. He also is the first disabled MMC in the series and Ember did a wonderful job with mixing magic and realism when approaching his blindness.
"You are the quintessence of lovable" -Bastian
😫😫😫 ugh my heart♥️♥️
I adored Cait!!! She is a sweet, smart and wonderful FMC who battles with PCOS, PMDD and Jerry (intrusive thoughts). She powers through her dark thoughts and works to make her dreams come true and with a sexy book dragon at her side...how can she lose?
Oscar deserves his own special mention. I love our little orange furbaby and I know all the other readers will too ♥️🐈
You will love this book if you like Grumpy/Sunshine Touch her and die Possessive MMC Monster Romance Forced Proximity
Oh my goodness so I think this is so cute. So the main female character has some issues in the job she's in at the very beginning of the book. At one point she sees this advertisement or something along those lines of this old book shopping sold and she figures I got to get the heck out of Dodge anyway. The first problem she runs into is this big scary lizard type monster who frankly just seems vicious and she doesn't quite know what to do about him. As time goes on even though he does start out as a jerk and very much keeps his possessiveness and sassiness about him he does soften up to her and honestly I think they had a spark from the very beginning that seems. I would definitely recommend this book if you like spicy but at the same time cute and cozy demonish/dragon type romances with a side of plus-sized FMC who just didn't think she was good enough because of people in her past but she finds out she's perfect in his eyes.
ARC Review Oh No! There’s A Dragon In My Bookshop Getting Cozy with Demons – Book 3 Author: Ember Holt Release: June 16, 2026 Genre: Cozy Monster Romance Tropes: Forced Proximity, Size Difference, Plus Size FMC, Slow Burn This is book 3 in the series and Caitlin & Bastian are my favorite couple so far. As soon as he called her a ‘charlatan” I knew we were in for “man this dragon is an old man” adventure. The FMC has realistic health issues, and the relationship is navigated in the perfect way. No insta love here! It’s a slow burn and as with the other books we get a great story with the spice being secondary to the relationship. Don’t get me wrong, Bastien is a dirty dog, but we get to learn his history and see the relationship with Caitlin and other characters develop. I felt there was a bit more world/realm building in this one. I hope we get to see some of C & B in the next book. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a got “I tolerate you because I have to” to “I’d die for you” story. Cute & cozy with a smattering of magic, suspense & spice.
A Laugh out loud, steamy, romance! I loved every bit of it. Caitlin's sassy quips had me laughing throughout the book. And Bastian's brooding sexiness had me simping in every chapter. I highly recommend reading this book, and the whole series. Each of the characters stories are so unique and they are so lovable, you wish they had more.
If you are looking for a steamy encounter between an independent courageous woman who needs a knight in shining armor on occasion or a reclusive protective dragon who will guard his treasures to the ends of the earth, this is your book. Throw in some early mutual pining, increasingly blushing-inducing steamy scenes, and an ever enchanting HEA story… this is your book. And how could I forget our loving feline companion, found-family, best friends and a bit of danger, all set in a small town. Ah, I really do love this story.
hugeeee huge thanks to ember for the ARC of this book!
i love this series, and i love getting to get cozy with the demons again (hehe). cait is such a good FMC, she definitely has her struggles but she is still so strong in the face of them. she is trying so hard to build a life that serves her and brings her joy and truly comes into her own power throughout this book. bastion is so wounded, so scared, but the sweetest baby puppy dog dragon when he finally lets cait in. he overcame so much to get to where he is, and he is the literally best example of protecting his hoard.
this book made me sad, happy, angry, giddy, and make me giggle and kick my feet. i love the demons and i love the dragons and i love ember!!!
This was, imo, the best book in this series. I love dragons; I even have a dragon in one of my own original fiction stories.
I loved Bastian from the get go. Caitlyn too. The character development and interactions both had, with each other and with others like Renee and Drew, were great.
I do think the warlock and dragon hunters could have had a bit more of a role. Their time in the plot seemed less than I initially thought. However, at 50 chapters (including the epilogue), it was still a great read. I loved how Sylvia and Jade and then Caitlyn at the end were all expecting.
I look forward to reading the next book and, if it's anything like any of Ember's other books, I just know it'll be amazing. :D

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I’m a Dra-gon, not a lizard! I don’t do that tongue thing. Hahaha
Dragons and witch’s and a very interesting cat….oh my. Had the opportunity to read this as an ARC and it’s amazing. Ember Holt did it again in this third installment of cozy monster chaos.
Bastian and Cait are the cutest and who doesn’t love a bookstore incorporated story line. Looking forward to seeing more brothers stories to come.
A very wonderful, very spicy monster romance. This is such a cute story that also touches on trauma and growth. The writing is so great with enough actions to keep the story moving but enough details to pull you into the story. Such cozy vibes and laughable moments.
You can feel how much this story means to the author through her writing. The characters grow into acceptance together.
It is an interconnected standalone. Spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Many many many thanks to Ember Holt for sending this to me as an advanced reader copy!!! GIRL!!! My favorite book so far in this series! I knew I’d love it but I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do! I laughed, I cried, I fell in love and then cried again… Basty boy is my new book monster boyfriend. I think he’s the perfect mix of “who hurt you” and “I will love you no matter what.” I need 12 more books in this universe… IYKYK
The FMC felt authentic and realistic, and it was nice to see an adult, plus-sized, chronically ill lead. I'm not much of a spice reader - which meant this book was not my norm - but I was swayed by the cozy bookstore, plus sized love interest, and magical dragon. There were a few threads that felt unfinished, but the pacing was good.
I received this book as an ARC from the author. Cait finds herself in a forced proximity situation with a dragon that she finds in her new bookshop. The chemistry between Cait and Bast was 🔥. Their banter and the humor made this a super fun read. I would say this is my favorite of the series so far.
(Arc Reader) I rarely give out 5 star reviews. In fact I can think of less then 5 books I've read that would make me want to. But this is definitely one of them. A spicy romance that has a dragon, isn't instant romance, has humour and a decent story line. Add a MFC who has actual depth and I'll defiently be rereading.
It was hilarious. Oscar and Bastian were really funny, and I loved the dynamics between Bastian and Cait. I liked how it started, with Cait leaving her former work without engaging in toxic, petty behavior, she was definitely a smart business woman. You can tell the author has personal experience about Cait’s illnesses, because the portrayal is very compelling. It’s my favorite from the series so far. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved this world and the characters that turn up in it. A unique set of demonic talents help a budding book keeper who has no idea of how far down the rabbit whole she will fall after she spontaneously decided to dramatically change her life's path.
It's modern and magical it all Blends together so well I had fun reading all of it it kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more I will definitely read this over and over again
