He spent his life waiting for people to leave. Brooks spent six months waiting to stay.
Sam runs the bakery. He handles the 4 a.m. baking, the catering orders, the customer-service smile. What no one sees is the stuffed fox he's had since he was nine, the grey tumbler with the straw because regular glasses feel wrong, or the way he falls apart alone in his apartment because he's never trusted anyone enough to fall apart with them.
Then Brooks walks in.
Pediatric surgeon. Steady hands. The kind of man who notices when Sam forgets to eat—and shows up with a two-hundred-dollar milk frother because Sam mentioned his espresso machine was struggling.
Brooks knows what Sam is. Has known since the first week. He's just waiting for Sam to trust him enough to say it.
But Sam doesn't trust anyone. Not after eighteen years in foster care. Not after his mother walked away without looking back. Not when every person he's ever let close has eventually proven him right.
So Brooks does the only thing he knows how to do.
He shows up. He stays. He waits.
And when Sam finally whispers the word he's been terrified to say, Brooks is ready to catch him.
Sugar & Smoke is a slow burn MM Daddy romance featuring a protective surgeon who packs lunches and a stubborn baker who needs someone patient enough to prove that staying is possible. Expect found family, a Discord group of chaotic littles, explicit heat, and a love story built one "good boy" at a time.
This book contains DD/lb dynamics, age regression, and explicit M/M content. For readers 18+ only.
this book would’ve been good if the author didn’t repeat everything once a chapter. literally the same wording, same events, same mindset over and over and over. i only made it thru on pure willpower to finish it.
This was a really cute romance! Not a fan of the cover, one of my biggest book peeves is real people on covers. Luckily, the content was really good. Sam and brooks had such great chemistry with each other. Definitely gonna read the whole series
this has got to be the most repetitive boom in the world. if I had to ready about the t shirt falling off Sam's shoulder one more time......frustrating as fuck!
