Beth returns to her hometown to help her sister recover from the tragic loss of her husband. What Beth never expects to find is herself considering a relationship, especially after escaping the last one, which had quickly grown boring and stale. Middle age is approaching, and Beth swears off anything other than a quick one and done, until a hot guy shows up to push all her boundaries. He's everything she wasn't looking for, minus the dangerous job he loves. Can she live with him constantly exposed to danger knowing each assignment could be his last?
Paul thrives on the excitement his DEA job entails. Chasing criminals and bringing them to justice gets his adrenaline flowing. While a fellow officer recovers from an injury in the line of duty, he meets a gorgeous woman who fills his every desire. The best thing about her—she has the same idea of a night of fun as he does—get in, get out, move on. But when disaster strikes his own team, Paul feels the need for more with her. Can he ask this perfect woman to accept not only him, but the dangerous job he holds? Will she believe he's worth the effort?
Beth was not looking for a long time just a good time. She found that plus more with Paul. Although his job had her on pins and needles she knew in her heart of hearts that he would always come home.
This book was pretty good and since both main characters were mature it made their banter and phone conversations that much better. No shyness, just grown folks talking.
Thanks Thia for the adventure and hard scenes as well.
I love stories with mature characters, and this was a perfect story to read on a cold day. Beth and Paul aren't thinking about a long-term relationship but the more time they are together, the more he wants. Problem is his job! It's dangerous. Can he help her come to grips with that fact or will it just be another fling?
