This was a really engaging and enjoyable read overall. There were elements of this paranormal romance that I loved; the small town vibes, the tropes, dual POV, interesting paranomal lore, plot twists and mystery throughout. The fast pace kept me on my toes in the beginning but ended up making a few revelations almost anticlimactic toward the end. Although, the ending felt as though it was a pretty solid setup for the next book with a lot of questions yet to be answered. I will definitely be reading the next one ☺️

Welcome to the town of Kings Crossing where the Vampire Diaries meets Hemlock Grove (minus the vampires) in this thrilling romantasy mystery. The story gives very high Gen z vibes and would suit a younger audience than myself.
The story follows Elliott a troubled character who is deeply flawed. Her complex and traumatic upbringing has led her to become emotionally closed off and incredibly stubborn. We see her internal conflicts based around abandonment, belonging and discovering her identity. She yearns for family and craves connection, yet finds herself pushing everyone unintentionally away, or is it intentional? While shes cynical and pessimistic we have Garrett who brings us an opposing character.
Garrett is the ray of sunshine to our grumpy female protagonist. Yes, it’s grumpy x sunshine and it works so well. These characters gel well together because they both understand each other’s internal desire to just belong in a world where they are seen as different. Garrett just wants to be accepted and find his place within his pack. He also struggles with his loyalties as his best friend and love interest do not get along at all. We watch as Garrett’s loyalties are tested by both sides, ultimately to lead to his downfall.
Tyler gives us the measure of conflicted needed in any good story. Is he inherently bad? No? but is her inherently good either? Also no. He keeps Eliott guessing and his distrusting nature keeps the audience guessing “who is really the bad guy here”
The plot is fast paced and there are times when I feel it could slow down a little, unpack the mood, the vibes and paint a picture. The opening chapters build suspense and intrigue and make the readers want to keep reading. This momentum is quite alluring. There is mystery interwoven with the fantasy elements and I felt it was the mystery that was the books biggest strength. The characters internal struggles are evident throughout the plot and foreshadowing is noticeable and effective, but not as subtle. I did find the aura of mystery towards the end weaken a little and the supernatural revelations were kinds just thrown in there without any real care or thought. Some plot points felt rushed and count benefit from a more subtle and careful build time. Take time, unpack the big things slowly. There was a lot of repition in the story too, eg. Elliott and the dead body, which made it feel very forced. The image was painted from the beginning there was no need for consistent descriptions throughout. But that being said, the story was still entertaining and kept me invested despite these issues.
The biggest flaw, for me, was the character dialogue. It felt vey unnatural, at times, and cringey. I get that Elliott is supposed to be cynical and emo, but some of the way the characters talked to each other felt very off for me. I also felt that the internal monologue writing was great, but we needed more showing rather than telling.
The ending went a little but haywire, and it was not a happily ever after which I loved. It left on a cliff hanger for those who love being left wanting more. I hope we find out what happens to our beloved Garrett, Izabelle and Tyler int eh next instalment.
I also noticed many editing errors in the copy that I downloaded onto my kindle, but I noticed that weren’t in the one on my net galley, I’m unsure how that works, might be something to look into moving forward.
I can say I would recommend this book, especially for a younger audience as it was very well written and had me hooked.

For readers who enjoy paranormal books featuring werewolves with an element of mystery, I highly recommend Wolfheart. It follows Elliott, a young woman with a mysterious past who travels into the town of King's Crossing seemingly looking for her grandmother that she has never met. As Elliott was in the foster system, she has no family and her birth mother recently passed which left her with more questions than answers. On her first evening there, she meets Garrett, with whom she shares some instant chemistry and sparks fly.
As the story progresses, Elliott learns that she is descended from werewolf hunters and that the local werewolf pack appear to be causing the deaths of tourists in the area, despite the years long truce between the pack and hunters. Joining forces with Garrett and other witch friends, Elliott tries to get to the bottom of the deaths and to prevent any further casualties. A key plot line is whether the immunity in her blood cam help to cure the local werewolves.
The twists, turns and secrets of Wolfheart often had me on the edge of my seat and I found myself unable to put this down as I had to know what happens next. It was a fun read that I was able to fly through quite quickly. The writing style was easy to follow and I enjoyed how the webs that had been woven all came together in the end so that I was able to see if my personal theories were correct or not. I also enjoyed seeing Elliott embrace her new relationship with her grandmother and try to build a foundation. After many years alone, it was heartwarming to see her try to open up to her grandmother, make friends and pursue the beginnings of a relationship with Garrett.
I was disappointed that this ended on a cliffhanger as I felt that the plot could have been wrapped up in a standalone novel. However, I would be curious and interested to see where the author takes us on a sequel and to see if Elliott's hunter abilities develop, or if she is able to recover her friendships after they ended following her secret keeping.

So thank you Netgalley for this ARC and Betty too. 3.25 ⭐ it’s good I just think it’s building for the next book to be better
The book follows Elliot who is a girl who has spent all her life in foster care and just had a bad hand after bad hand in life. And wants to know who her family is while also self sabotaging and protecting herself throughout. She moves to a small town to find her grandmother and ends up thrown in the middle of paranormal drama with wolves and witches and small town dramas and murders,
The story is an enjoyable read and very easy to read although I will admit I did drop of a little in the middle. The FMC is written well but at times you do question her decision making throughout and to be fair things would have been easier for her if she trusted a little. The love interest is the typical golden retriever energy that you kinda love while she is all grumpy and broody and keeping him at arms length.
The side characters are interesting and nice even if Tyler is just too over the top with his hatred which also didn’t help her being the same.
The romance was nice but at parts did feel a bit disjointed and to be honest annoyed me at times with their lack of communication on both sides. They just didn’t let each other explain the big parts.
The ending was a shocker and I didn’t see it fully coming and did give me that immediate I wanna see what is going to happen next. And see if she repairs things that’s she’s broken along the way. So I am looking forward to the next one.

It gave me all the nostalgic paranormal vibes I adore, but with a sharp, modern twist that makes the story feel brand new.
Elliott is an absolute delight of a heroine: bubbly, chaotic, with a witchy spark and more grit than she lets on. And Garrett? The golden retriever energy werewolf who somehow manages to be both soft and devastatingly dangerous. Wolfheart has a gritty, dark atmosphere. This is a YA book (in my opinion). The FMC makes quite a few questionable choices along the way and you end up questioning her maturity often. I get though that she is quite young and still growing up. Therefore, I did appreciate that we were able to get multi-POVs in this book and we also followed Elliot’s love interest, Garrett.
I felt the pace in this book was a bit off. It felt rushed often and secrets that were exposed were done with minimal to no build-up. I also assumed this book was a standalone but there was a cliffhanger at the end. It did intrigue me enough that I do want to know what happens next.
I would rate this book a 3/5 stars. While there are some pacing flaws, I did enjoy it still and would pick up the next book.

There were so many things I enjoyed about this book, the cover, the tropes, the plot, the imagery the author creates and the level of detail in the descriptions were fantastic, it really made me feel like I was in the scene with the characters. There were all sorts of emotions throughout this story but my issue was that I struggled to connect with the characters so I couldn't absorb the emotions the author was portraying as I found myself not really caring about the MC's. I think it might be purely based on the dialogue not matching what I was seeing in my head if thst makes any sense 🫣 the plot was telling me the characters were older yet the way they spoke was like they were teenagers. I also would have loved more about the dynamics of the pack. It's highly likely that's just a me problem! The book overall was good but I just didn't vibe with it. I would 100% suggest reading this book to form your own opinion and I would read more by this author in the future! 🫶

I’m so glad I was approved for this ARC because I honestly might have missed out on something really special otherwise.
Betty Hawk delivers a fast paced, addictive paranormal read that absolutely nails those nostalgic werewolf vibes while still feeling fresh and full of surprises. From the very beginning, this completely pulled me in and I ended up reading it in one sitting.
I inhaled this book and I was totally enthralled in the world.
The story is packed with twists, dual POV tension and a really fun mix of witches, magic and werewolf lore. It moves quickly, but in a way that makes it impossible to put down, constantly pushing the plot forward and keeping you guessing what’s coming next.
There’s a real 2010s paranormal nostalgia to this that I loved, but it’s sharper and more modern in its execution. The atmosphere, the pack dynamics and the supernatural elements all blend together really well, and I’m definitely intrigued to see where this world goes next.
This was such a fun, surprising and bingeable read, and I’m so glad I picked it up. I’ll absolutely be reading more from Betty Hawk

Oh, I love a paranormal romance… this one just wasn’t for me. This is marketed as perfect for Twilight and Teen Wolf fans. And while I can see it on the surface level, I just can’t get behind it. The characters felt too distant and one dimensional and I did not feel any chemistry between the two leads. When they first interacted, I originally thought that the mmc was just an annoying guy she’d meet them never see again LOL. The conflict was too surface level for me. There is a LOT of telling in story rather than showing. We are told that Elliot comes from a powerful line of werewolf hunters again and again. We are told there’s a powerful wolf pack that lives in town. Ok, I understand that…. But to make readers believe it, there needs to be tangible proof through descriptions that make us feel something. I really liked the premise of the book, but I just wish there was more. Maybe I went into it with a different set of expectations! From other reviews, it looks like it is loved and enjoyed by others. I just wasn’t the right audience for this one. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an arc of this book.

I requested Wolfheart because as a girlie who grew up reading 2000s era werewolf romances, I really wanted a new book that fit that same vibe and I though Wolfheart would be it.
Unfortunately, despite the promising premise, Wolfheart fell a bit flat. Everything about it was just...fine. I loved that we had an FMC with coloured hair as we don't see this often enough in my opinion! But I absolutely did not enjoy Garrett nicknaming Elliott 'Pinkie'.
The story was okay but I wish the author had leaned more into the pack dynamics and less on the 'drama'. The author's prose was good but the dialogue between the characters was immature/teenagerish despite the characters being older. I also read the plot with older characters in mind so reading childish dialogue took me out of the story.
I didn't feel right rating this lower than 3 stars because I feel its very much a 'me' problem and can see many readers gobbling this one up. I don't think there's anything fundamentally wrong with any aspects of the writing and story, but simply that it's just adequate.

The author's prose was good but the dialogue between the characters was immature/teenagerish despite the characters being older. I also read the plot with older characters in mind so reading childish dialogue took me out of the story.
I didn't feel right rating this lower than 3 stars because I feel its very much a 'me' problem and can see many readers gobbling this one up. I don't think there's anything fundamentally wrong with any aspects of the writing and story, but simply that it's just adequate.

Just when I thought I had the story figured out, the ending delivered an unexpected twist that completely changed where I thought things were headed. It wasn't the ending I anticipated, but it definitely left me wanting to know what happens next.
The story does a great job of building tension and setting up future conflicts, only for everything to come crashing down in a way that leaves readers eager for the next installment. The entirety of the book felt like they were laying the groundwork for bigger events to come in the next book.

Wolfheart was a really enjoyable start to this romantasy series. The writing kept me turning the pages, and I found myself invested in both the characters and the overall story from the beginning. One of the things I liked most was the main character’s relationship with werewolves. It felt like a refreshing twist on the usual trope and gave the story its own identity.
The storyline and spice were well balanced too. There’s enough of it to add tension and chemistry, but it never takes over the plot, which I appreciated.
My only small criticism is that the ending felt a little abrupt, almost as though it stopped mid-stride. That said, I suspect that’s very much by design to pull readers straight into book two. In my case, it worked, because I’m already looking forward to continuing the series.

This is a nice werewolves story. It is very fast paced and there was many plot twists which I liked. Since its short, I wish we had a bit more back story before starting. I went into it and I was a bit confused in the beginning. It went so fast that I was wondering if I missed some information.

Wow, if this is the author's debut, I am impressed! This book was so fantastic. The suspense, the romance, the whole Buffy vibes, but with werewolves. I will be recommending this to all my reader friends, and waiting so impatiently for book 2! I could not get enough of Elliot and Garrett's banter, and I really was impressed with the diverse characters and representation that was portrayed. Even though there are some graphic horror scenes, this book blends so many genres seamlessly, and really was a great read that gave me all the heart pounding feels it set out to do. I loved this book!! 5 stars!!

This was such a fun read and very nostalgic of early 2010s CW supernatural shows! It reminded me so much of Teen Wolf, especially the parallels between Scott and Allison and Elliott and Garrett. You have the forbidden romance, the family conflict, the hunters vs. werewolves tension, and that constant feeling that they’re caught in the middle of something so much bigger than themselves. It definitely gave me those nostalgic early Teen Wolf vibes, and I loved that.
I really enjoyed the mystery and fast pacing, but I did wish some of the relationships and worldbuilding were explored a little more. Still, this was a super entertaining paranormal romance and I’m definitely excited for book two!

This was a bit hit and miss for me. I definitely felt that nostaligia with a little bit of that Teen Wolf/ Vampire Diaires/Twilight vibes but the story telling just missed the mark.
I got to about 50% and it still wasn't any clearer than when i first started the book. Theres a lot of emphasis on family history and secrets within communities and it just didn't make sense with the pacing of reveals and what not.

I enjoy a good werewolf story, this was much more "loving a monster" than found family which I felt was a bit of a shame. I'm not sure if we even met the whole pack in the book?
I was dismayed to discover this wasn't a self contained book but my main issue was Tyler. I feel like we were told but not shown how he was such a good friend to Garett, and he was a massive dick to Elliott for the entire book? I'm aware I'm likely biased as FTM are exactly numerous, and the book was otherwise fine.

This book was full of mysteries surrounding the FMC and the other main characters. There is a lot of suspense about what she had been through in her life, and why she went to Kings Crossing in the first place.
It also has some murder mystery kind of vibes, because of the girl that was found dead. It keeps things interesting, and keeps us guessing all throughout the book. I enjoyed trying to guess who’s been behind all of this, and I certainly was taken by surprise by this ending.

While I enjoyed the general plot of the book, I think this would have benefited from actually aging the characters down a bit. All the characters were adults yet they read like teenagers at best. It’s a werewolf and hunter romance that focuses more on the drama and the mystery of it all, not really on the wolves. The dialogue in this felt juvenile, I kept having to remind myself that these people are older and not in high school. It felt like you literally could switch the setting to a high school and there would be very little differences to the story.
It was alright if a little flat but I liked the ending.

This was an enjoyable read for me. I really did not know what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised by an engaging story filled with so many secrets. This one took me maybe two days to read. The writing is accessible, and the story moves you along quickly.
