ARC REVIEW

My my my, these toys are totally mischievous. This is such a hilarious read. Juniper and Eli are the most adorable couple; they're like two peas in a pod. But when they bring home new toys, things get really crazy. I laughed so hard at this. I also found myself thinking about how I would react in this situation. Honestly, I don't think I would handle it as well as this couple, lol ! check this book out right now!

Such a fun read. This is a novella, so I read it all in little over an hour. Definitely different than what I normally read but this was actually really funny. The banter between the main characters and the talking toys was hilarious. Two broke collage kids that want to spice things up with some "soft" BSDM really get the surprise of their life when the toys come to life and not only coach them but give them reviews after. truly hilarious and the authors mind is a work of art!

✨ARC REVIEW✨

This was quite the unique short story about the quest to spice up a relationship that apparently required a field trip to a sex toy store. I went in expecting the usual tropes and instead got hit with a plot about a mysterious "return to sender" package filled with—and I cannot stress this enough—sentient sex toys.

I would have happily signed up for another couple hundred pages of this specific brand of weirdness.

This book was one of my favorite tropes of sentient object romance and was pure fun. This book was spicy and faced paced in all the right ways. I loved the idea of a couple in this getting the objects and the banter between them all made for a super fun read.

This book was such a pleasant surprise.

Not my usual read but it was funny and engaging.

The story follows a college couple who want spice up their sex life. They visit a shop where they are given a mystery box of toys to aid their exploration.

To their surprise and to mine the sex toys come to life and not only do they aid them in their exploration of each other but actually review their performances.

The banter in this book is great. But beyond the funny moments and there were many this book had depth.

The need to experience more than just pleasure, the wants of being desired and a little dominated were completely relatable and something I think we all think about once or twice in our lives.

Return to Sender did such a great job explaining the playful desires of human nature.

I highly recommend this funny and incredibly well written novella. I absolutely love this author and can’t wait to read her other books.

I knew this was going to have to be a must read the moment I saw the description. The premise was so wild and quirky and the novella definitely delivered on it.

What I had not expected was the emotional depth and realism of the relationship between Juniper and Eli. The obvious love, the nervous excitement and the touch of fear of changing the status quo.

Short, spicy and absolutely delicious.

This is a wild ride! I was intrigued when I was given a copy to read before release. Sentient sex toys?! What fun! I found there was more to the story. I loved the freedom our FMC had in asking for what she wanted and the receptiveness of her partner.

If you are looking for a fun, sexy romp with the underlying theme of communication and support in a loving relationship, L. Lestrange delivered.

This was such a fast funny read.

This was a story full of epic banter. For all parties. This is just a quick filthy palette cleanser. The spice level isn't too high, I'd say 1.5-2 🌶️. But the banter the banter is ⭐⭐⭐⭐ all the way.

Let me just say this: if emotional baggage could be shipped Priority Mail, Juniper and Eli would both have tracking numbers.

Return to Sender is what happens when witty banter, unresolved tension, and a curious little exploration of kink all move into the same apartment and decide to figure their feelings out… loudly.

Juniper Graves? Relatable queen of “I’m fine” while absolutely not being fine. She’s messy in the best way insecure, bold, curious, and trying to navigate desire without losing herself in the process. And Eli Wilder? Sir. SIR. He’s got that quiet intensity that says “I respect your boundaries” while also making you question your own pulse.

The banter? Top tier. These two spar like they’ve been training for the Emotional Olympics. It’s flirty, sharp, and layered with vulnerability. They’re not cardboard cutouts playing dress-up. They feel real insecurities, awkward moments, and all. It’s handled with care and communication (yes, we love consent and actual conversations). It’s approachable without feeling like a textbook or a shock-factor stunt.

This is a short and spicy time. I love the main characters and the love they have for each other. Their willingness to try something new that turns into a magical time. The book draws you in to keep reading to know what happens next. If you're looking for a short read to kill some time and enjoy yourself, pick this book up.

Two years into their relationship, Juniper and Eli are feeling like their sex life is a little, well, bland. For Valentine’s Day they decide to spice things up but perhaps get a little more than they bargained for when their box of sex toys and bondage tools starts providing feedback on technique…

This definitely felt different than other sentient object romances I’ve read because it featured a relationship between two human characters. Juniper and Eli’s interactions felt genuine and authentic to the experience of exploring something new in a relationship. The characters were cute, sweet and funny. The humour throughout the story was definitely a big plus.

Once their sentient friends got involved it continued to be sweet and fun and silly. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this novella. I only wish it wasn’t quite so short and the ending felt a little abrupt. I think the story would have benefitted from an additional scene between our lovers and their new companions.

If you already like sentient object romance, this one is a fun spin on the concept. If you’re thinking about trying out the genre, this might be a good spot to ease yourself in.

ARC read this

This is a spicy sentient object romance. Make sure you know what that means before reading.

Before I go forward with the review I have a suspicion that the author uses AI for their covers. I know this author would actually do really well in SOR community if they switched to human made covers. We’d even accept their stick figure drawings. Seriously!

Now the book!

The objects that are sentient are a BDSM kit, and boy, do they have banter with each other. It’s quite hilarious and funny and I love them.

The story follows two college kids who are very much on a budget and want to spend their money wisely on something that will allow them to explore BDSM. They know their bedroom life is missing something and are curious to see what they can learn

They get a really great deal on an unused returned box from the adult store. Turns out the seven items inside are alive.

Like, they weren’t cursed nothing. They’re just alive and really it seems their job is to give performance reviews and assist you in exploration. Honestly, I feel like we could all use this

This is a well written story and I hope the author write more sentient object romances

The moment I saw the words 'sentient object' in the description, I knew I had to read this novella. I didn’t even care what else the back of the book said—Return to Sender was an instant yes for me! It did not let me down. I laughed through all 60 pages. In the first half, we meet a sweet couple who want to spice things up in the bedroom. They visit an adult store for ideas and courage, and after spending their last few dollars, they’re convinced to try a mystery box instead. The box had been returned, and my first reaction was, 'Ick! Who would agree to that?' But I got over it, and I’m so glad I did. The boyfriend is shy in the bedroom, especially next to his confident girlfriend, who’s ready for anything. Things get even wilder when the sentient adult toys come to life and start coaching and scoring them. The result is pure comedy. This book was a perfect, light read between heavier books and reminded me why I love this genre. Great job, L. LeStrange—I’ll be reading more!

My first thought reading this was: who came up with this and are they okay?... can we be friends?
A couple wants to spice up Valentine’s Day, goes to a sex shop, and the guy working there convinces them to buy a mystery box instead of picking things out individually. Great deal. Excellent marketing. Honestly, 10/10 upselling skills.
They take the box home… the toys are sentient — and definitely not quietly so!
I read this in one sitting and stayed up two hours past my bedtime because I physically could not stop. This book is completely my jam. Short, spicy, ridiculous, and genuinely hilarious.
Also, if anyone is selling this mystery box, please send one to my house immediately. I can deal with a little sentient object backchat.
Honestly, I’m a bit obsessed. The ending was perfect. Absolute chaos. Highly recommend.

I had high hopes for this book because the synopsis seemed so funny and interesting. It felt relatable and grounded in the beginning but something was bugging me about the writing. It didn't feel natural or flow as well as a book should have.

Well, from the first page you could feel how obnoxiously AI the writting was. I was very dissapointed, however, I tried to keep reading a bit longer before I assumed the worst... unfortunately, every single page scored above 70-80% AI written/AI paraphrased.

Please stop using AI for everything, writting is an art and not only are you taking away such a core part of the experience, the book just felt soulless because of the lack of human emotion.

If no AI was actually used, I do apologize, but the writing still felt not human regardless of it being flagged as AI written or not.

That was a really tedious, nearly painful read. The last two chapters were easier but it only made me laugh two or three times. Part of the problem was the blurb : we don't get to see the sentient toys until the end of chapter 6 (of 9). I found it dragged on.

But the bigger part of it was the writing. I can't even explain what was wrong with it. At times it felt like a bad automatic translation and at other times it seemed words or phrases were missing. English is not my mother tongue, but this is the first time in a very long time that I have struggled to read, so I don't think that's the reason.

Well, this was quite a ride. I am not sure what I would really do if my toys came to life and I had seven different ones talking and guiding me through, but I do know that my reaction would be much, much different. However, this was such a fun and kinky little book. I think it def has an audience, but sadly, I am not it. If you're into sentient objects coming to life and indulging in fantasies, this is totally for you! If you're wanting a book that is short and sweet and perfect for that palate cleanser, this totally works.

This was a quick, funny read. I can’t remember the last time I laughed this hard at a spicy book. I mean “for starters we talk. And we judge” and “we roast because we care” coming from toys was hilarious because I’d say that too. If you need a quick palate cleanser or another bump to your reading challenge, rad this! Only takes maybe 30 minutes and you’ll be entertained.
