Good to Go #4

A Major Connection

Rate this book
Major April Soames is spending her last days as a Marine soaking up the sun and dog sitting for her sister. Unfortunately, the troublesome canine has dug up the garden of the last person in the world April expects to see—sexy Gunnery Sgt. Robert Thorn. The man is a hundred percent male with a body that won’t quit and a hard-ass attitude to match. He’s unforgiving, and now the darn dog has made a mess of his tomatoes.

Gunny Bobby Thorn has seen the major hottie on base, but officers and enlisted don’t mix. Then he learns she’s on terminal leave, only a few more weeks until she’s officially a civilian. That makes her fair game, and she’s just what he needs to add a little pleasure to his life. Thorn finds himself falling for her. Hard. Between her sharp wit, snarky attitude, and gorgeous looks, he’s addicted and needing more.

But April has plans to move on with her life, and Bobby’s not all that great when it comes to maintaining relationships. But with a little mastery in the bedroom and some tactical planning, he’s going to find a way to storm her defenses. When it comes to the heart, this is one Marine playing for keeps.

4.5 Stars

Once again Marie Harte has written a sinfully sexy story about two very strong individual figuring out how to live and love together. I LOVED this story so much because it features a strong heroine who isn't afraid to give up control in the bedroom and one that outranks the hero in her professional life (or did prior to her separation). A hero who admires the strength the heroine shows in all aspects of her life but understand her need to give up control sexually. Hot, hot, hot and then some and it doesn't hurt that while it takes them both awhile to admit their feelings they are on the same page and are willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.

There was something special about the way Major April Soames and Gunnery Sgt. Robert "Bobby" Thorn interacted from the first moment they met. I love the way they shared insults, their snark, and the undeniable attraction between them. I swear I kept expecting my Kindle to go up in flames and briefly wondered if that's why they named it Fire! And their first kiss...seriously panty melting.
With April's future uncertain as she separates from the military and Bobby's sewn up for at least another 8 years, these two have some major decisions to make and both are struggling with feelings that came on fast and furious.

From the first chapter to the fantastic epilogue I could not put A Major Connection down and I add it to the growing list of favorite books from author Marie Harte.

Bobby and April

The last book in this series was appropriate with Bobby Thorn finally getting his HEA. The characters were fun and the dialogue witty, making this a truly enjoyable story. Highly recommended.

Kobo+ Contemporary Romance Series Challenge 2025. This is the 4th and final book in the Good to Go military series by Marie Harte. All four books take place in Swansboro LeJeune Marine base. The first three are all about the Cava siblings: Mike, Brad & Olivia. Gunnery Sgt. Robert Thorn (Bobby) dated Mike's wife Maria.
MC's h. Major April Soames, Logisitics and just retiring from the marines after 10 years. Babysitting her sister and her fiance's dog Lobo who has been tearing up Sgt. Thorn's vegetable garden. (Dog was looking for a bone her buried). Bobby (Sgt. Thorn) came over to her home to confront her about the dog ruining his vegetable garden.

They meet for the first time officially. He thinks she is fine and vice versa. He kisses her which leaves her breathless. Soon they are an item. After a week they fall in love.

There is a lot of sexy love scenes, some family drama on April's end. There is some violence which April handles. There is an epilogue and all the Cava's and Thorns get together.

Overall it was a cute and sexy love story with a HEA. I gave it 3 stars.

Enjoyable read.
Stands alone but it worked well reading the first three books before this.
Lot of sex but I did enjoy both the characters and the story.
Have owned these for ages and read them a few times. My previous reviews are missing.

Danger Zone: Tales of Military Passion

I didn't expect this book to be that short. But nonetheless, I enjoyed it. It was fun to read about a heartstrong female protagonist. I enjoyed seeing her kick ass of some potential rapists. This book certainly raised more awareness within myself. I am now more informed of how females may be treated in military and just thinking about it makes me want to punch someone. Because it's so sexist and I'm shocked to see that even in safe and strong walls of military, women are still being objectified. Okay, enough of that. The book is not only about that but it is also about April and Bobby.

The first thing I noticed in this book was how odd Bobby's name is. Not Bobby but Gunny. Gunny Thorne. Well, it is very manly at some point, because of the Gun in Gunny and Thorn in Thorne. Bobby was everything April could want in a man. But she first refused him because she once tried a relationship with a fellow Marine and that didn't turn out quite well. It was kind of funny how forward Bobby was. Like nothing subtle about kissing a woman to let her know you're interested. LOL. But April liked it, it seems.

Both of them were equally scared when they both realized that they were in love with each other. Both of them went through the denial stage, most definitely. But April, bless her soul, came forward with what she felt when it was too late. Before she left for her job interview near Raleigh, that's when she informed Bobby of what she felt and she felt angry at him because according to her, he wasn't man enough to come forward with his feelings. And she left him afterwards. One week later, it was Bobby going to her so he could have the chance to really come forward with his feelings. They made plans for their future and interestingly enough, it worked for the both of them.

I liked this one a lot, if you're looking for a hot and fast-paced read, this one's for you.

A Major Connection is the fourth in a loosely connected series. Each is a full story and can be read standalone. In this story we have a tough as nails female Marine Major and an even tougher Gunnery Sargent. Officers and enlisted don’t mix. Good thing April is on terminal leave. She has resigned her commission and is dog sitting for her sister which leads to a confrontation with the oh so sexy Gunnery Sgt. Robert Thorn. I really liked April. She is smart and honest with herself. Bobby Thorn has a bit to go but eventually gets there. This is a fun romp in the land of smoking hot Marines.

Three stars because this is the fourth book in this series and I didn't read the first three as this is an Anthology and didn't realize beforehand. So I have no idea if there are any previous characters or background information from prior books. Enjoyed the quick and spicy romance between Bobby and April though. They seemed a good fit for each other and the light master/submissive element added to the story was quite engaging as well. Not crass nor crude.

USMC Love

A former Marine meets a lifer Marine, and the sparks fly. This book is for the above 18 crowd, due to a lot of erotic and light BDSM sex. It seemed a little rushed to me in places, I would have enjoyed the author slowing down a little. I did love the location, probably because I lived in North Carolina, in the exact area where this book takes place.
