For Dodge, the vibrant plains of Oklahoma hold the promise of a new way of life as well as the possibility of a second chance at love.

Starting over is never easy. Dodge Bastian can attest to that fact a few times over. Not only has the professional from California traded in his dental scrubs for cowboy boots, but he’s also now the sole parent of his ten-year-old son. While trying to restore the rundown ranch his father left to him and his siblings, Dodge was thrilled to be given sole custody of his child. His dreams of raising his boy in the bliss that is rural America are slowly coming true. However, the upheavals that have taken place are not sitting as well on his son’s thin shoulders as they are on his.

While he’s working to rebuild a family legacy for his son, the lad has found a new group of friends who aren’t exactly the best influences. After being caught defacing a historical landmark in downtown Bastian Grange, Dodge gets a call about his son from the local sheriff. Tall, handsome, and infinitely patient, Ollie Ahoka has already grabbed Dodge’s eye. Seeing how the lawman interacts with his son fans the small flame of attraction into a blaze that will soon engulf both men. But will the inferno of a new romance continue to burn once the reality of parenthood settles in?

Dodge (Bastian Brothers #2) is a single father, medium burn M/M contemporary western gay romance with a new cowboy who is feeling out of his depth, a longtime local lawman, a confused young man, lots of found family love, plenty of filled to the rafters farmhouse chaos, and warm as the summer sun happy ending.

I really liked it. I was looking forward to Dodge getting his story, and I really enjoyed Dahn entering his sullen teen phase. It was nice to see them struggle to find themselves in the bigger Bastian group in spite of being with them for a while already. And Dodge and Ollie make for a cute couple.

Oh how I missed the crew at Bastian Acres. What a fun bunch! Granny remains a hoot while Bella gets me all up in the feels - I laugh, I cry with her, I admire her. At the heart of this story, Dodge (the dentist from California) and local sheriff Ollie get the page time, and their romance, while quite instant, is beautiful to behold. Ollie is everything Dodge needs and didn’t know he needed.

The sub-plot around Dodge’s narcissistic ex-, and the potential damage to child Dahn, had me spitting nails. How one human being can be so selfish boggles the mind and my heart ached for Dahn.

Progress continues to be made on the ranch through the hard work of the four brothers. Oh, and a natural disaster brings everyone closer, united in the desire to help out.

The camaraderie between Baker, Dodge, Ford and Lincoln is endlessly amusing, as they get more comfortable with one another.

Locey continues to impress with her world building, skills with found family and delightful yet realistic portrayal of ten-year-old Dahn. Her With all the little subplots neatly wrapped up, the couples’ HEA presents like it’s wearing a bow. Five stars.

Dodge by V. L. Locey is the second book in her Bastian Brothers series. It is the story of a rancher with a young son and how he falls in love with the sheriff in the town and all they go through to get their happy ending. Dodge Bastian was a dentist in California when he discovered that he was part of the Bastian brothers who were fathered by the same man and had left them the Bastian Acres Ranch in Bastian Grange, Oklahoma. He was married to a retired football player, Chris, who had been cheating on him so they divorced and had a 10 year old son, Dahn, between them. But then Chris decided to try to play football in Spain and turned over sole custody of him to Dodge, which infuriated him because now Dahn had a parent leave him just like Dodge did and he knew how much that hurt. Now he was at the ranch with his found family of brothers, Baker and his partner Hanley, Linc, and Ford, as well as Granny who held them all together and Bella who lived with them and had a boutique on the property. They were working together raising goats and cattle and remodeling some line shacks that they could rent out to make more money for the ranch. Dodge had been on the ranch for 3 months and was doing all he could to help out. Dahn loved the goats and was interested in showing one at the fair that was coming up. Dodge took him in to the Rec Center in town that that had classes and lots to do for kids and since Dahn was new he hoped he could make some friends, which he did, but the ones he found were not what they seemed to be. Ollie Ahoka was the sheriff in town and grew up on the nearby Cherokee reservation and had been friends with Baker most of his life. He stopped Dodge for speeding and a broken tail light and when Dodge shows up to show him it’s fixed, they have coffee at the Calico Diner while he is waiting for Dahn to get out of one of his classes. Ollie tells him about his life and how he got to be sheriff and that the Leary brothers and the Owens’s were bigoted and tried to push people around and didn’t take kindly to Indians or people that were different. It is obvious that they have an attraction to each other and they exchange numbers to see each other again. They kept having lunch dates and Ollie lets him know he wants to get to know him better in all ways which leads to a kiss and they decide to go on a bigger date to the casino. But life got in the way with a deluge of rain that flooded the area and they all helped to save those who needed it including the people at the Lilac Hills Assisted Living Center so it got postponed. Dahn was also having problems because Chris had seemingly abandoned him and deep down he was worried that Dodge would do the same thing, even though he kept reassuring him he would always be there. This led to some typical young teen behavior that wasn’t great but Dodge stood firm through it all. Then he caught Dahn standing by while his friends bullied another boy and eventually found out they were related to the Leary’s and when Dahn tried to prove his friendship to them by defacing a statue in town everything came to a head. Punishments were handed out and Dahn was seeing that his friendship with those boys was not a good thing. Dodge and Ollie had their date at the casino which led to a hot love scene and both knew they wanted to be together. Dodge had been estranged from his mother over Chris but he called her and they talked and came to an understanding and she and her twin wanted to visit to see Dahn show his goat at the fair. When they came, Dodge and Dahn stayed with Ollie and Dahn got to know him and saw what a great guy he was so he wasn’t upset when they became boyfriends. The story ends with them saying I love you and looking forward to the future together. I really enjoyed this book. Dodge was such a good guy, willing to help his family with the ranch and doing his best to raise Dahn and help him through his ex leaving them. Ollie had a rough and tumble childhood but it turned out for the best when he went to college and came back and was elected sheriff of the county. He was attracted to Dodge from the start and wasn’t afraid to tell him so. Dahn was also at the center of the story as he had so much to go through with the divorce, his dad leaving, and moving to a new place. But Dodge and his family were there to help him every step of the way. His brothers, Granny, and Bella all added some fun and teasing to the story and did all they could to help others and the ranch. The Leary’s were the bad guys and it showed but luckily Dahn and the others saw this and then started to avoid them. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like stories about brothers living on a and taking care of a ranch, an ex city boy and his son arriving and helping out, a boy with growing pains, and a sheriff who is there for all of them as he falls in love with him and his boy and they look to the future together.

Love This Author’s Gentle Humorous Style of Writing

This is the second book in the series and they really do need to be read in order as the author builds this wonderful world set on a ranch in Oklahoma.

This is Dodge’s story and as well as his romance with the hot sheriff we get to see the four half Bastian brothers getting to know each other, having each others backs and three of them getting to grips with life on a struggling ranch. Dodge was a dentist from California and as well as adapting to ranch life he is coping with a nasty divorce from a narcissist ex husband who didn’t just dump Dodge for his latest twink but has also given him sole custody of their 10 year old son Dahn, in effect dumping him as well, so Dodge has to cope with a hormonal, emotional, angry little boy who feels abandoned in a new environment.

Granny is still a hoot and I love Bella, the sweet but feisty best friend of Ford, the youngest Bastian brother. They make me emotional for them, trying to establish their new boutique with beautiful hand made dresses, in a small narrow minded town.

There is loads of chemistry between Dodge and Ollie and Ollie is everything Dodge needed but didn’t know it. They fall quickly and Vicki gives us a few spicy scenes😉

It’s lovely to see the ranch taking shape and all their hard work paying off and grumpy Baker now having three brothers to help him. The ribbing and teasing as they get to know each other is highly amusing and a natural disaster brings everyone closer.

Vicki writes about found family so well and this is another heartwarming addition to the series and can’t wait for Ford’s book next.

MY OPINION: This is the second book in this series, and it was really good. We return to the ranch, which is now moving forward after being inherited by the four brothers, and pick up with Dodge.

After fighting with his ex, he finally got his son, Dahn, to come to the ranch at least for the summer, only to be surprised by the same ex leaving the country and his son. With Dahn and Dodge making a home at the Bastian ranch with the family, he never imagined this new life, and it had its ups and downs.

The charm of these books is that they are slice-of-life stories. Dodge has a crush on the local Sheriff and that crush grows when Ollie quite openly says he feels the same way. Throughout the book, there's an undercurrent of them falling for each other, but life doesn’t allow them to have a big, sweeping romance. Together, they deal with life. And while doing that, they find tender moments to grow closer.

This book has a lot of single dad struggles, community support, dealing with unpleasant, bigoted people, and loving each other. The family is varied and wonderful. Each character is a vibrant part of the overall story. And through all of the situations, Dodge and Ollie lean on each other and fall hard.

All of these things make this such a great story. No third-act breakup, just a slow burn of falling for each other in between living life. This could easily be read as a standalone story, but reading the first one gives you some background and is a great story on its own. Can’t wait for the next brother and see them fall in love around this huge, loving group of people.

Good family dynamic + a sheriff to love😉

4-4.5🌟 stars
This second Bastian Brothers novel continues the family bonding on the ranch inherited from their roving father and features single dad, dentist-turned-rancher Dodge but I think could also be read and enjoyed as a standalone. There's a great balance between concern about haters in the community; battling natural disaster that affects the community's view of the brothers; Dodge's concern for his troubled teen Dahn; and the local Native American sheriff setting his sights on Dodge for flirting, tasty private lunches and more. The romance had good heat and was virtually angst-free.

I liked the realistic treatment of the Dodge-Dahn relationship. Dodge worries a lot about his son who, in his desire to make friends after his move to rural Oklahoma, makes some questionable choices about who to befriend and how far he will go to fit in. The boy also has abandonment fears thanks to Dodge's footballer ex who takes off for a job in Europe accompanied by a new partner he's obsessing over with barely a thought for Dahn.

Also liked the twist regarding Bella, the transfemme member of the Bastian household, who confronts major problems getting a women's fashion business going thanks to some entrenched prejudice but whose lifesaving actions help put a crack in the wall of anti-LGBTQ sentiment.

I enjoyed it and look forward to the next Bastian brother's romance🙂.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Dodge's ex texted that he wanted a divorce and after a bitter divorce, reneged on the shared custody agreement swanning off to Spain to play football (at 42). With their ten tear old son, Dahn, in tow, Dodge sells his dental practice and moves to Bastian Grange and the ranch he co-owns with his three brothers. Sheriff Ollie Ahoka was one of the few friends that didn't desert Baker when he was a drunken mess. He's quite attracted to Baker's ginger haired brother and the feeling is mutual. It's a slow burn romance with lots of flirting and some fantasizing about handcuffs. Coffee dates turn into lunch dates and a spilled cup of coffee moves things along nicely. The two men are combustible together. Major sizzle.
I liked how the author presented Dahn and Dodge's relationship. Dahn is angry about his father's desertion, and Dodge hurts seeing his son go through the same thing he had as a child with a no good dad. It's a realistic parent child interaction, some sunny days, some turbulent. And Dodge finds himself saying that universal parental lament "Am I doing the right thing?"
The banter between the brothers is lighter in this book, and there's lots less "half-brothering" and resentment. Granny adds laughter and Bella proves she has a spine of steel. A wonderful found family. Ford is up next and I can't wait to find out why he and Bella left New York with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
A fun, quick read. An absorbing family.

This is the second book in the Bastian Brothers series. You really must read the series in order to understand all the confusing relationships and how they came to be. This book focuses on Dodge Bastian and Ollie Ahoka. Actually it focuses on Dodge and his son Dahn. Dodge was a dentist in California when he discovered that he was part of the Bastian brothers who were fathered by the same man and had left them the Bastian Acres Ranch in Bastian Grange, Oklahoma. Dodge and his son Dahn are living at the ranch with his new found found family of brothers, Baker and his partner Hanley, Linc, and Ford, as well as Granny who held them all together and Bella who lived with them and had a boutique on the property. Ollie is the local Sheriff and knows the town well. The spark between Bastian and Ollie from book one continues to grow bigger. The two meet over speeding and a broken tail light. Ollie invites Dodge to coffee and it all starts from there. I received a complimentary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review. The book is well written and easy to read. Chris's actions, Dodge's ex and Dahn's dad, make it easy to understand why Dahn rebels about life in Bastian Grange. There are challenges and Mother Nature that the family must contend with. I enjoyed watching Ollie and Dodge's relationship grow. I really enjoyed this book. I look forward to the next book by this author.

This was such a good book. I really enjoyed it. The blurb was great but Ollie the sheriff came into the story long before Dodge's son, Dahn gets into trouble. Dodge is a California dentist moving to Oklahoma to live with his brothers/half brothers on land left by their father who gave them each a portion. He's moving with his 10 year old son whose semi recent ex husband signed his rights away to so he can run off with a mind of fantasies and his latest boyfriend to another country. Dahn is taking it hard and is angry and hurt and as a result he's acting out and getting involved with a troubled group of boys with their less than ideal opinions on sexuality and race that they learned from their parents. Dodge hasn't had it easy but he finds a slice of his own happiness and desires being filled by Ollie who is the town sheriff. Their banter is fun and flirty and they have great chemistry which made them a lovely couple. The book is described as a slow burn but with only a bit more than 200 pages it didn't feel slow but I felt like their progression to a relationship was real, honest and came naturally. Ollie didn't just care for Dodge but Dahn as well and it was so nice that they had Ollie to care and be there for them because he wanted them in his life. The found family and side characters were great as well and I'm excited for the next Bastian brother to find their HEA.

Dodge is trying to do right by his child after having been a part of a really frustrating divorce from a really inconsiderate ex. He relocates with his son to Bastian Grange and moves in with his assortment of half brothers and they work together to build up the ranch their absentee father left them and to take care of their granny - who is a hoot. Dodge is glad of the change and he has his eye on the hottie local sheriff, Ollie. But Dahn, his ten year old son, is not acclimating to the change in location as well as Dodge. Dahn finds himself getting into a little trouble which brings Sheriff Ollie calling. Unlike Dahn's other father, Sheriff Ollie is good with Dahn, even as they hold him accountable for his actions and these two men wind up being a good match for one another. The attraction has been there from their first interactions in this story but the development of their relationship was so well written. They find their way at a good pace, keeping in mind that they are forming a connection with one another but also considering Dahn as a part of their dynamic. The family relationships on both sides are lovely as well.

Told from Dodge's POV. This series must be read in order.
While the main couple in this book are Dodge and Ollie, there is still a lot of time devoted to the other three brothers as well as some other characters that are crucial to the overall series like Granny and Bella. I really like all of these characters, but due to the book being just over two hundred pages, I felt not enough time was dedicated to developing the connection of the MC's.
The attraction between Dodge and Ollie that was noticed in book one continues here. A traffic violation leads to a coffee date and from there the spark between them grows to where they want a proper date. However, they are sidelined by various incidents, including Dodge's troubled ten year old son. These situations were intriguing for various reasons and added a lot of depth to the story, but take up a large portion of the book and left me wanting more time between the MC'S for bonding before their declarations of love.
As I said, I really like all these characters and do look forward to seeing what happens next.

I received a free copy. This review is submitted voluntarily.

I can see why reading the previous volume is necessary since the basis for the story is given in that book. The plot here has a number of lanes, some of which: Dodge’s relationship with his ex (son Dahn’s adoptive father); Dahn’s unstable hormones and his taking up with the wrong kids; the four brothers’ conflict with arch conservative members of the community; and the relationship between Dodge and Sheriff Ollie Ahoka. All are blended nicely by the author, though I’d be interested to see if the conflict situation with conservative elements gets solved by the last volume. Both MCs are quite reasonable, though not to the extent that they are boring. Dodge is a great parent, and he has the support of Ollie in that. Their relationship really heats up about 2/3 through the book which seems appropriate in the circumstances. They are helped by a number of secondary characters, both good and bad, though my favourite in both books is Granny who is both wise and a hoot. It was a quick read, finished in just two days.

I quite enjoyed the book.

One of my favorite authors raises the stakes in this series. I loved book one of the Bastian newly discovered family, and book two is better. Reading book two was like catching up with family at family reunion, warts and all, and old Grannie....Dodge is such stand up kind of guy just trying to do better and giver his son a good life. Having left his past profession to move to the run down range to repair it and recover from his ex who left him and his son, Dan. Of course the family is there to help with the transition as is the hot sheriff, Ollie. Ollie first meet Dodge when he stopped him for a traffic violation (broken tail gate). Dodge being the good guy he is seeks out Ollie to show him he got the light repair. This starts their more consistent interaction. I love the realism of this story...the difficult transition and teenage angst that Dahn experiences, the writing of Dodge/Ollie's relationship like mature adults, and much more. Dodge is the friend we all would want in out lives. I cannot encourage you enough to read this book. The love and happiness will stay with you once you finish.

Lambo twink, nanny berries, pretty salamanders, ass freckles, macaroni salad, wiener holes, catfish, Samhain, banana split

You have to read "Baker - Book #1" before trying to tackle this one. That way, this book will make more sense.

"Dodge - Book #2" of the 'Bastian Brothers' series is like cotton candy--sweet and fluffy. It's funny, but has a seriously tense scene. The dialog is somewhat cheesy and sappy. It's easy and delightful to read. However, I'm glad I read it, can't wait for the next book, "Ford".

Dodge Bastian has to travel back to Sacramento only to get sole, full custody of his son, 10 year-old Dahn. His clueless, selfish ex-husband, Chris is moving to Spain to play football there. He's leaving Dodge and Dahn behind. Of course, Dahn doesn't take it well. He thinks his father is casting him aside.

Sherrif Ollie Ahoka is sweet on Dodge and wants him. Dodge is equally attracted to Ollie, but has his son and the farm taking the bulk of his time. However, Ollie is persistent. Dodge is equally attracted to Ollie, and finally relents.

Despite my opening remarks, I'm glad I read the book. I easily recommend it.

“Dodge” is the second story in the ‘Bastian Brothers’ series, and centers around the second of the half brothers who have been brought together by the death of their father. Dodge, a divorced single father, is struggling to reconcile leaving his dental practice and relocating to Oklahoma to work on a ranch and raise his young son, who is starting to rebel a bit. Encounters with the attractive local sheriff, Ollie, get complicated as Dodge struggles to be a good father and brother.

This contemporary adult gay romance continues to build on the thread of family and new beginnings in an entertaining series. I enjoy “fish out of water” stories, and love the way Dodge has embraced the challenges of dealing with the various denizens of the ranch and an entirely new lifestyle. The great way he deals with bigotry, a rebellious son who is looking for his place in life, and newfound siblings who are enjoying teasing him combine into an enjoyable story with a nice blend of heat and family. I look forward to seeing the rest of the secondary characters get their time in the spotlight.

This was a fantastic addition to the Bastian Brothers series.
Dodge is a sexy, hot, amazing, single dad just trying to raise his son is a new place with newly discovered family.
Ollie Ahoka is a very hot, brave, smart and sexy town Sherrif.
They catch each other's eye and their journey begins.
From his ex-creating issues and not being there for their son to some people in the town being homophobic trash, the story takes on several rides.
I can't tell all the secrets of this book because I believe the people who buy the book need to discover things for themselves and feel the emotional rollercoaster Ms. Locey takes us on.
Just know the family stand up, tall, proud and fight for the safety of many.
This family may be new to each other, but they will do whatever it takes to be a family.
Granny is back! As funny and charming as ever. Note: She still can't shoot straight.
All I know is this about this book, the men who are lucky enough to become a part of this family, through falling in love with the brothers, are truly blessed and add SO much to their lives.

I was so looking forward to this next trip back to Bastian Acres and catching up with this lively, chaotic family. The ranch feels more alive than ever, from Granny’s sharp humour to the steady progress the brothers are making as they rebuild both the land and their relationships with one another. The sense of found family running through the story is warm and reassuring.

Dodge’s journey as a single father really got to me. His love for his son is obvious, and the struggles they face felt honest and sometimes heartbreaking, particularly where his ex is concerned. Ollie, though, is a calm, steady presence, exactly the kind of man Dodge needs. Their connection develops naturally and feels grounded in mutual care, especially in the way Ollie treats Dodge’s son.

With plenty of emotion, family chaos, and community spirit, this was a heartfelt, satisfying read. The happy ending feels well earned and left me smiling long after I’d finished. So looking forward to more!

I’m enjoying this series and getting to know the Bastian brothers. I love how their sibling relationship is growing with each book, along with their family.

I loved Dodge and Ollie’s story, with the added complication of Dahn, who understandably isn’t dealing well with the actions of his other dad. I loved how good Ollie is with Dahn. It’s obvious, too, that he cares about the town in the way he does his job. I thought Dodge was a great dad. I loved the banter and teasing between him and his siblings.

I liked how everyone comes together to help when disaster strikes. Linc’s protectiveness of Bella is sweet, although she definitely holds her own and doesn’t need it. Granny totally rocks. I love how she’s been there for Ollie through rough patches in his life, too.

I loved Dodge’s mother and aunty. They fit into the family dynamic perfectly. I hope we see more of them. And that the town bullies get a few lessons learned by the end of the series.

This is the second book in the series and they have to be read in order.

It's a single dad romance which is like catnip for me. Dodge has quite a lot to juggle, the sudden inheritance, three brothers he still is getting to know, a granny, an ex who is aboandoning their son and now the hot sheriff he is lusting afte.

This is not just the romance itslf, a good chunk of the story is the ongoing development between the four brothers, Bella and them settling in a small town, trying to bring their lives together. Dealing with narrow minded townfolk, a pre-teen who is acting up and did I mention the hot sheriff?

I like Dodge and Ollie. Ollie gives Dodge the time and space to let go, to not worry constantly and be the one who is cared for instead of being the carer all the time.
There is definitely chemistry, it's quite a fast developing romance with spicy scenes.

Thank you for the book; here is my honest opinion:
Goodness, I am enjoying these Bastian Brothers! The setting is phenomenal, really immersive and full of rustic charm and interesting side characters. The romance between Dodge and Ollie is wonderful and had loads of potential, I enjoyed how they approached their developing relationship with measured enthusiasm. They want to be together and act accordingly, which can be oddly rare in romance reads. I’m going to be picky, because I loved this couple, but the romance was a bit lost under the plot, the town, Ollie’s job, Dahn, and a bunch of other distractions. It’s all well written and engaging but I was missing focus on the relationship. I love the brothers and getting to see them learn to be a family is definitely a highlight. I absolutely can’t wait for Linc and Bella to get their HEA. Great series!

This is book 2 in the Bastian Brothers series a contemporary western romance.
It's set in Oklahoma. I feel it should be read in order... at least book 1 first so you know why the 4 brothers are together, why one doesn't really like the others and a bit about each one since it was all set up in the first book.
Dodge is from California, going through a rough divorce and raising his ten year old son on his own.

A few things I really liked the found family aspect. I loved Dahn the child and how his story is very integral to the main story.
All the feels. Lots and lots and lots of emotions and feels.

Is there anything I didnt like? Nope. Loved evwrything! And cant wait for the next book.

If you like slow burn, new cowboy, ex dentist, local lawmakers, found family, stories with kids, small town western with some angst and lots of feels this is for you.

Dodge by V.L. Locey is book 2 in the Bastian Brothers series. I really enjoyed book 1, so I was excited to see book 2 was coming out. Dodge is dealing with a narcissistic ex-husband who wants to give up parental rights to his son, moving onto a ranch and giving up his dental practice, and his attraction to the sheriff.

I wish there was a little more time spent on the romance, but there was a lot going on here so I understand. I like how Dodge was so patient with his son knowing that he was going through a lot of changes. Ollie, the sheriff, was pretty awesome and I love how he wanted to make sure that Dahn and Dodge were both feeling wanted. I cannot wait for Bella and Linc’s book though it looks like Ford is next. I cannot wait to see what his story brings.

I’ve always loved books that include brothers because I love good brotherly banter, and this series has that. Dodge is now a single dad of a 10 year old boy. So there is part of the storyline that deals with fatherly duties. I really liked Ollie’s character and felt he was a good match for Dodge. Granny is a delightful character that keeps the men in line.

The best part of the book for me was easily slipping back into the Bastian Ranch’s world. I like book series for the reason of being able to start where we left off and continue on with getting more attached to the characters with each installment. I’ve very much enjoyed getting to know both Baker and Dodge, and look forward to what’s yet to come in this delightful western series.

Book two is even better than book one! And this is from someone who was prepared to hate all of Baker’s half-brothers who just waltzed in and steamrolled right over him!

But Dodge is lovely, and adores his son. I mean, he’s gold star dad! But the transition, living in a new place, suddenly having siblings, and basically everyone being on top of each other.

His ex is the worst, which isn’t just hurtful to him but also to their son. And he meets the hot sheriff, Ollie, who, let's face it, is kind and selfless. Rescuing kittens while delivering meals to the infirmed kind of man.

Trying to carve out something for himself, something good and special, while real life swirls around, is a lot, but it’s so much easier with someone who has your back.

I enjoyed reading Dodge; I loved him and his son, Dahn. I also loved Ollie and how he cared for Dodge and his son. Dodge’s ex was a real tool and it hurt my heart a little for how he treated Dahn. I enjoyed all of the interaction between the Bastian brothers and I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.

It may just be me – I’m the kind of reader who always wants more – but, like book one, I thought this one ended a bit abruptly but there was a solid HFN. I’m hoping that we’ll get more of a wrap up for all of the couples by the time the series ends.

An advanced copy of this book was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Family, can disappoint but are more fun. Dodge, leaves a dental practice in CA, to start a new life with his son as a cowboy working the family ranch. While Dodge has found his path, his son is not as thrilled. He acts out from the rejection and abandonment of his other Dad, and lands in some trouble. Sheriff Ollie works with helpuing Dahn make better choices and crushes on Dodge the more they interact. The feeling is mutual. Good story about men who find each other and navigate aspects of their life as they move through a courtship and settling into a new life pattern. Nice growth and good changes. Great supporting characters. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I am so glad we got Dodge and Ollie’s book next. The Bastian family hooked me good withe Baker, the first book in the Bastian Brothers series. I was curious to see how things went with Dahn since he has had a lot of change. As a parent I know first hand things either kids aren’t always sunshine and roses. I thought the author did a great job of showing it realistically. The one word responses and cold shoulder attitude is something I am very familiar with. I can’t wait to get Ford and Linc’s stories. I’m glad Linc’s is going to be last. I have a feeling they are going to need the big family support.

Very sweet story, about Dodge, another Bastian brother, former dentist, single dad and Ollie, the Native American sheriff. The story between these two is sweet, heartwarming. The relationship between Bastian and his son Dahn, is very well portrayed, showing many realistic challenges. It was great to be back in this world with so many great side characters. As in the first book, I just missed to have more interaction between the two main characters.

Dodge is the second book in the Bastian Brothers series, I guess it could be read as a standalone but recommend to read the books in order.

I got an ARC and this is my honest review.

This is the second installment of the Bastian brothers and Dodge is up. If you haven’t read the first book I highly recommend that you go back and read it first.

Dodge has given up his life in California to make a go of the ranch. He’s divorced and bringing his son with him. Dahn is a little lost and finds himself in trouble with the law. This brings Ollie the sheriff fully into the sight of Dodge. Those two are so good together. They are honest with each other and watching them find their footing was so satisfying.
I enjoyed seeing the rest of the brothers and especially Granny. She’s a hoot. Can’t wait for the next brother to fall.

Changes are all part of moving on from a disastrous marriage, finding your brothers and making sure your son feels loved and accepted should be enough to keep Dodge busy. But when a speeding tickets turns into so much more with Sheriff Ollie, Dodge finally feels he is making headway - that is until his son has something to say about it. V.L. Locey once again creates characters that have all the feels, deal with honest issues and will put a smile on your face in the end. A great second book in the series.
