El libro profundiza mucho en datos no tan relevantes como las primeras investigaciones que se hicieron sobre las hormonas, pero no explica como es que la dieta que propone te va a ayudar a mantener equilibradas tus hormonas, se limita a repetir en cada capitulo que la dieta de la zona te ayudará a con tus hormonas, pero no entra en detalles de como lo hará. Por ejemplo, dice que para tener una piel saludable deben aumentar los eicosanoides *buenos*, y que la dieta de la zona los aumenta, pero no dice por qué. Por otro lado, la dieta no me gusto porque incluye mucho lácteos, tocino y jamón, productos que he sabido no son buenos consumirlos frecuentemente. También incluye *pastelillos de soja*, los cuales no estoy muy segura de que son.

This was a good straight forward book and reminder about the factors that age us and how to fight them. Good for it’s time when published certainly, but nothing groundbreaking at present...

Teos kuvailee zone-dieetin, missä rasvojen. proteiinin ja hiilihydraattien suhde on tietty. Dieetti parantaa terveyttä ja pidentää ikää alentamalla verensokeria, insuliinia, kortisolia ja vapaita radikaaleja, mitkä kaikki ovat liiallisina haitallisia. Suurin osa kirjasta on yksityiskohtaista tieteellistä kuvausta hormonien vaikutuksista em. ominaisuuksiin sekä hormonien keskinäisistä vaikutuksista. Sille, joka etsii vain käytännön ohjeita zone-dieetin soveltamisesta, tämä opus on melko raskas, joskin siinä on myös käytännön ohjeita ja ateriavinkkejä. Käytännön tarpeisiin Barry Sears on julkaissut muitakin kirjoja, joihin aion seuraavaksi tutustua.

Here Sears discusses research that shows reducing caloric intake increases life-span, at least in laboratory animals. Since the Zone is effectively a low-calorie diet, at least compared to typical eating habits of Americans, Sears argues that the Zone could prolong your life. Much of this book is necessarily speculative.
