On the way back from her engagement luncheon for her arranged marriage (meaning he does nothing for her, doesn’t excite her, she doesn’t yearn for him), Queen Erasbella is kidnapped by pirates - one of which is smart-mouthed, quick witted and sexy. To make matters worse, fire-breathing dragons are lurking in the area, aiding the villains. If Erasbella can't find a way to outsmart, seduce, or outright slay the pirate captain, she'll never make it home...

But, of course she does though but not before being absolutely seduced by this sexy dark pirate who merely wants to use her as a bargaining chip to get enough gold to buy a magical element to help slay a dragon that keeps pursuing him. Something in him speaks to her though… she has multiple opportunities to kill him but can’t. He makes her weak. They share an amazing evening together…

She’s marked with a quartermoon birthmark on the back of their hand. It’s a magical mark which shows she’s the chosen successor to the kingdom which gives her slight powers.

Wreylith is a giant red dragon who had been flying with her younger niece, merely a hatchling, who becomes enticed by some roasted meats on a dingy drug behind a ship after hearing a telepathic message with the promise of even more delicious food if they help with the capture of the queen in the ship they are pursuing. Wreylith thinks she’s an idiot and flies on ahead… but that young dragon and the pirate ship are then both attacked by two more dragons, one giant black one has been hunting this pirate blaming him for the death of his mate. The youngling is nearly killed but our MMC saves her. Because Wreylith circled back around to check for her niece, she saw the two humans saving the young dragon. Then felt she owed a favor to the woman (the kidnapped queen) for the act.

The pirate has a rare power, he is a creator. He can imbue objects with magic. He makes a replica dragon with Wreylith’s likeness using a scale of her which links her to Erasbella. Wreylith didn’t want the link, but didn’t say no to it. She appeared on Erasbella’s wedding day causing quite a panic but now Erasbella knows she’s able to call on her dragon whenever she needs it.

Quite excited to see where this will go….

I really liked this little novella. I read Book 1 and 2 before this, so I thought I wouldn't like it as much because it didn't have Syla and Vorik but I really did like it. I liked it so much I'm kinda hoping it's a spin off. But PLEASE finish Syla and Vorik's arc first 🙏
