She’s kept her heart on maximum-security lockdown…
Growing up, MacKenzie learned early on that love was something other people experienced, something she’d seen but never felt. When she meets MMA fighter, Ian, she expects nothing more than a one-night stand, but he walks away before they seal the deal. Now she’d like to forget the night they almost hooked up. But she’s just taken a job working at his gym, and despite her efforts to move on, his allure is overpowering. When Ian gets injured, they begin working together on his rehabilitation, and their one-on-one physical therapy sessions are so hot they sizzle, leaving them both desperate for more contact.
The battle for love is about to become a fight to the finish.

I cannot wait for you all to read this! I've never released a book at 99-cents before, but as a THANK YOU to readers who have faithfully asked for this follow up to my bestseller, Hard to Love, for almost 2-years now....I listened and it's coming! <3
Reckless Love is the story of Ian and Mackenzie. If you’ve read Hard to Love, you may remember them as the best friends of Cade and Alexa.
Kenzie is a nurse who is working in the gym that Ian trains at. Ian and Kenzie had a moment. They were out with friends, they were hitting it off, and they almost got together. But Ian has rules. Rules he does not break. When he is seriously training for a fight, he trains hard, he eats clean, and he doesn't have sex. It’s his rule that he won’t break. Unfortunately, this comes across to Mackenzie as not being wanted. With the way she grew up, its hard for her to deal with those types of feelings.
Kenzie and Ian have sexual tension that is off the charts. It’s so obvious that they want each other. As much as Kenzie tries to deny her feelings for Ian by seeing someone else, she can’t lie to herself. And Ian can only hold back from her for so long…
I liked Ian and Kenzie’s character’s a lot, but I found myself frustrated a good portion of this book with each of them. There were moments I wanted to jump in the pages and smack some sense into them both. So much unnecessary struggle and heartbreak. The only thing that kept me from getting fed up with them both is the fact that I understood completely where both characters were coming from. Any decisions they made that I didn’t like, they both did for the right reasons in their heads and hearts.
As always, I love Kendall Ryan’s writing style. Her books are sexy, easy to read an enjoyable. They always have the right amount of emotion to make me feel. I could have done with a little more steam in this story, because this woman can write a steamy scene like no other.
Reckless Love is written in dual p.o.v. which I always love. Even though it is the second book in Kendall’s Hard to Love series, it can be read as a standalone.
I am huge fan of Kendall Ryan, so much so that in the past few months I have been reading all of her books I missed. My favorite thing about Kendall’s writing is the way she delivers a quick sexy stories. Reckless Love is apart of the Hard to Love series, but can be read as a standalone as they focus on different couples. This is the story of Ian and Kenzie.
Ian is a professional MMA fighter and he trains at the gym where Kenzie works as a nurse. For months these two have been walking on eggshells with each other after their failed hook up. Now this is understandable Kenzie is humiliated after being left high and dry when she was willing to give Ian everything.
Kenzie feels Ian just out right refused her because he wasn’t into her, but that isn’t the case. Ian actually refuses to have sex before fight, he believes he will fight better if he sustains. He knows Kenzie believes he just isn’t into her and he is okay with that since he can’t offer Kenzie what she deserves. Ian has to be completely focused on his career so that is what he will do even if it kills him.
Despite their desire to avoid each other their chemistry is undeniable and when they end up situations with each other they can’t fight it.
This story had some frustrating moments, but in the end I could understand where the characters were coming from. Kenzie has a heart of gold and she wants the best for Ian, so she is willing to sacrifice her own feelings. Ian comes off as a rough and gruff fighter, but he is really a softy on the inside and when it comes to Kenzie he will do anything to make her happy. That is why even when I was frustrated I forgave them, both of them just wanted the best for each other.
As I was saying Kendall always delivers on the sexy and I loved how much heart was in the story. I loved her character’s strengths and how protective they both were. If you are looking for a sexy read with lots of heart this is the story for you. I am sure I am just being greedy, but I would have loved a little more sexy times.
"Every since the night we met, I’ve known I wanted to be a part of your life. Even the days it was torture to be near you…"

~ 4.5 Hard Not to Love Stars ~
This series of books really should've been called Hard Not To Love instead of Hard to Love, because both Cade and now Ian are AMAZING!!!! You can't help but fall in love with these two men.
So let me ask you this, what do you get when you mix a MMA fighter with Kendall Ryan??? You get one OUTSTANDING book!!!! With every book I read by Kendall, she just solidifies why she is one of my favorite automatic read authors. I will stop what I am reading just to read her new releases!! Her writing style, to me, is flawless and spot on. She always gives us just the right amount of detail to make us feel everything the characters are feeling without weighing the story down. Anytime I pick up a Kendall Ryan book, I know I am in for a great book. One that will bring out many of emotions, but will also leave me happy and with a smile on my face. Reckless Love was no different. And let me tell you…Kendall knows how to bring on the steam. A fan is definitely necessary when reading her books ;)
In Reckless Love we meet Ian and MacKenzie. I have to be honest and say I don't remember them in the first book , Hard to Love, but I read that one so long ago, that with the background of these two characters and how they are linked to Cade and Alexa, I am sure they were probably in the first book. With that said, this can totally be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading the first book just to give you the backstory on Cade and Alexa, because they do play a big part in this book. But if you don't want to, you will for sure be fine reading this without it. Kendall does a great job connecting the dots and filling in any spaces you might miss with not reading book 1.
Ian and MacKenzie were amazing characters, but truly had serious issues with communication. A lot of their problems could've been solved had they just talked to each other. But then we wouldn't have a story that was filled with angst and sexual tension. I will say I was a little surprised by the direction Kendall went in this book. I don't want to ruin anything, but because she went in this direction I couldn't give it a full 5 stars. It is something I just don't really enjoy in my books. But with that said, don't let that deter you from reading this book, because I truly did LOVE this book aside for those two aspects.
I would recommend this book 100%. Kendall Ryan really can do no wrong when it comes to her writing. Even when she adds elements I normally don't enjoy, she still is able to create a story that totally sucks me in and doesn't let go. I end up loving the book in the end :)
So if you are looking for that MMA fighter love story that will warm your heart and melt your panties, then you should definitely give Reckless Love a chance!!!!
Let me start off by saying I love Kendal Ryan’s books. Her story telling and writing style is my cup of tea. I liked Reckless Love but I didn’t love it like I was hoping too. I think my main issue with it was Mackenzie. I never really connected with her character or liked a lot of her decisions. Ian on the other hand, I loved. He was sweet, kind, protective and hot!!!! He was a little stand offish at first, but when he committed he was all in.
Reckless Love is the story of Ian and Mackenzie, for those of you who have read Hard to Love, you’ll remember them as friends of Cade and Alexa. Kenzie has started working as an on-site nurse in the same gym that Ian trains in. After one night that almost leads to a one night stand, but didn’t, Kenzie and Ian have kept their distance from each other. As Ian continues to train for his upcoming fight with the help of Kenzie, they both find it harder and harder to fight their feelings for each other. With Ian’s “rules” to help him stay focused before a fight and Kenzie dating the owner of the gym, drama ensues that keeps a line between Ian and Mackenzie.
Reckless Love is a quick, easy read and it was nice to see Alexa and Cade again and see where their relationship had grown too.
This is one of those books I had to take a few days to digest before I could write my review and not sound like a sugared up 12 year old girl who just met her crush!
I will start off by saying I did not read book one first, but I was able to read this one without being lost. There is quite the band of characters in this series. Two nurses, a fighter and a porn star are all friends. And no, that’s not the start to a joke. They were real, and made real decisions, even if it means pushing away something or someone they really want.
Ian is working his way to be a professional MMA fighter, and a grade A asshole! I get why, but it still made me want to climb in and nut punch him!
Kenzie is too sweet for her own good. I wanted to scream at her to be selfish and to go after what she wanted! In the struggle with what she wants versus what she thinks is right, she may end up hurting them both.
Oh, and Chris?! Grrrrr! ~ Devlynn, 4.5 stars
~~~
Who doesn’t love a hot, Alpha MMA fighter who also has a sweet side when it comes to the women in his life? And Ms. Ryan sure knows how to write some sexual tension!! This book was sexy, fun, and oh so enjoyable!
I read the first book, Hard Love, a few years ago and loved it and was so glad that we were getting Ian and MacKenzie’s story. The two want each bad, but won’t act on it. After an almost one night stand, Mackenzie assumes that Ian doesn’t like her. When in reality, Ian doesn’t feel he is good enough for her so he stays away.
“God, I wanted to kiss her—and do a lot more to her – so fucking bad.”
Working together at the gym and later doing physical therapy only allows their connection to grow. And it was sizzling!
“I want to make you come. I want to hear my name on your lips.” A little grunt of satisfaction rose in her throat. I hadn’t even touched her yet, and she was already so worked up.
At times, I really wanted to yell at Mackenzie and tell her to just go for it; give in to what she wants and be selfish for a change. I absolutely loved Ian’s relationship with his sister, Sophia as well as Mackenzie’s friendship with Alexa. This was a fantastic book! ~ Tiffany, 4.5 stars
I like Kendall Ryan's books...don't get me wrong...but why does she always have people cheating and having sex with others while they are in a relationship or in love with someone. With Cade and Alexa...the man slept and had feelings for Alexa then runs off to do a porn movie and acts like its just a natural thing to do...nah...its not cheating. Then in this book, MacKenzie thinks is completely ok to do things with Ian while she is dating someone else. Hmmm no prob...nah...its not cheating. Now I understand why she stuck with Chris later in the book (still disgusting in my eyes though) but before that situation arose...she was dating and going out with Chris while sexually messing around with Ian. MacKenzie actually really got on my nerves. The whole reason she was pissed at Ian in the beginning was so dumb. When he turned her down sexually, he told her he couldn't do this before a fight. She freaking held onto that like someone killed her dog. I mean, grow up, he has a routine he does before a fight and you punish him for sticking to his plan. Another thing is...she starts dating her boss whom she doesn't even know if she likes....I mean how stupid can you be. If you are going to chance ruining your career, at least make sure you head over fucking heals in love with him. Then she leads him on, over and over and over again. Ian was such a sweetheart...well except for the fact that he was finger fucking his managers girlfriend on the floor...yea...nah, its not cheating. Jesus...I swear. And then what the hell happened with Chris. He pretty much sexually assaults MacKenzie and all we hear at the end of the book is that Ian, MacKenzie and Jonah leave his gym. ahhhhh ok....anything else. I really hope any other books stray from this same cheating plot. After realizing it, all her books are like that...even her other series...please please please....find another conflict, change it up.
What is it about cage fighters that gets me going?!?! whatever it is….I’m not fighting it. [YOU KNEW I HAD TO].
While this is the second book in the series, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything major not having read book 1. So, when it says that it’s a standalone, it really is. PHEW.
Ian is an incredibly focused cage fighter who eats clean & doesn’t fuck before fights. He’s looking to go pro and is training his ass off for it. But he can’t keep his mind or his eyes off of the medic at his gym, MacKenzie. When he joins MacKenzie’s friends Alexa and Cade (hi book 1 characters!!) out at a club and things get a little hot and heavy, he immediately pulls back. He can’t have sex before a fight. It’s his rule. and he doesn’t break his rule. But that certainly doesn’t stop his dick from tempting him to try.
MacKenzie is hurt, embarrassed and frustrated after being wound up and left high and dry. While she wants nothing to do with Ian, she can’t help the pull that she feels around him. She’s had a complicated past and while she claims it hasn’t scarred her, it certainly hasn’t helped her ability to trust people. These issues propel her to make decisions on her own and carry the burden of every situation. She spends pretty much the entirety of the book trying to do what she thinks is best for everyone. She doesn’t want to be a burden. She doesn’t want to be a distraction. She obviously wrong in doing so, and I wanted to shake the obnoxious out of her so many times I lost count. But she’s independent and afraid to let anyone help – even though she so willingly and easily gives of herself.
The sexual tension between MacKenzie and Ian ratchets up as the book progresses to the point that if something didn’t happen between them soon I was about to hump Ian’s leg. This book is definitely enjoyable, even with Kenzie’s crazy logic….Ian was deliciously sexy. I loved his protective and possessive nature and I loved it even more when his soft and caring side was exposed. This is an easy, fun read that satisfied my craving for eight pack abs. Thanks, Kendall!
I love Kendall Ryan- all of her books tend to be super easy to read, which I can't get enough of. She always has a great hero, a lovable heroine- a good plot and well developed secondary characters. And holy hell, her covers are amazing! Her Hard to Love series is no exception. The first book in this series is called, Hard to Love- following Cade and Alexa, and Reckless Love is the second book, which follows a different set of characters, Ian and Mackenzie. They are Cade and Alexa's best friends!
Kenzie works at the gym Ian trains at. She is a nurse, and sort of has a thing for Ian, but Ian has rules- especially when he is training for a fight! Kenzie was so sweet, caring, and devoted. Ian was super alpha, which is what I love about Kendall's male leads. So even though they both kind of want to act on what is happening, they can't. And Ian's rules come off as a little harsh, and really hurts her feelings- especially after her not so great childhood. It makes it hard for her not to take what he says to her, to heart. And I totally get why she would be upset.
And can we say sexual tension? Holy cannoli, they two of the, have it. Kenzie tries to deny it- even going so far as to see someone else, but who is she kidding? And HELLO??? Ian is smoking hot! I loved both of their characters as much as I wanted to strangle them, they were fantastically written.
I love that this is written in a dual POV. And Kendall pulls off the man's perspective flawlessly time and time again. I kinda wanted more sexy time, just because Kendall masters the sex, but there was the whole sexual tension that kept it going for me.
And while this book is the second in the series, it is a standalone with different characters- so you don't have to necessarily read Hard to Love, but I definitely recommend it!
I loved this story. Kendall Ryan writes a seductive and sexy novel with a little suspense and some great feels tied in. Written in dual POV we get a taste of both Ian and Kenzie. I loved every page turning minute. THIS IS A MUST READ!!!!
Ian is actually a caring guy especially when it comes to Kenzie, "You’re bleeding,” I said. “Who did this to you?” Damn it, was this why she’d been crying earlier? Did that jerk do this to her? “Who did this?" I liked the chemistry these two had: "I wanna play with this,” she murmured, working her hand into the front of my shorts. “You can do any goddamn thing you like to him." He can be a real accommodating boy when he wants to be, "fine. Keep your apartment. But I’ve got half a dresser that’s empty and waiting for your panties. And over half an empty closet screaming for your sexy dresses." I liked this book I loved Ian.
I really enjoyed it I couldn't put it down! Good story, great characters, less drama, sexy but not too steamy. I mean, I love sexy books but I don't really like it when a book is too steamy and there are too many sex scenes in it. But the amount of sexiness in this book is just perfect!
I like Kendall Ryan's writing style. I loved Hard to Love so much and this book is definitely not disappointing! ( ・∀・) I'm so going to read more of her works in the future! (^_-)-☆
Ian está a punto de conseguir su sueño, ganar el campeonato de la MMA en las Vegas. Solo necesita concentrarse, excepto que la chica que quiere trabaja para él pero no quiere tener nada que ver con él... O eso dice. Mackenzie quiere a Ian más de lo que ha querido otra cosa, pero no dejará que sacrifique su sueño por ella... Solo que en esto nunca hay opción.
Vale, ya aviso desde ahora: VOY A DESTRIPAR ESTA HISTORIA PORQUE ESTOY SUPER CABREADA. ASI QUE OJITO CON LOS SPOILERS. Como ya visteis en mi actualización de lectura, me cabree mucho pero voy a contaros bien la historia. Tenemos a Ian y Mackenzie. Mackenzie conoció a Ian a través de Cade, el novio de su mejor amiga Alexa. Y la tipa esta se lanzó a Ian cual perra en celo, es más, lo arrastró el día que lo conoció en el bar, al aparcamiento para que se la tirara en su coche 😐🤨. Así que cuando la tía prácticamente lo está empujando al asiento trasero él le dice que no puede y ella se pone a rugir cual leona que menudo cabron blablabla. Osea, vamos a ver, yo es que para mi gusto las chicas así de agresivas: GRACIAS PERO NO GRACIAS. Pero al margen de eso, esta perra ni siquiera le deja terminar de hablar, que si lo hiciera sabría que era porque el entrenamiento de lucha de Ian no le permite tener sexo antes de una pelea. Bueno esto todo no te enteras hasta mucho más adelante, pero desde la página uno la tipa esta se está quejando de que no puede olvidar "el día en que Ian destrozó su corazón para siempre", así que ahora que sabéis que fue esa cosa tan horrible que le hizo no pensáis lo mismo que yo? ABSURDOOOOOO!!!! Osea he visto cosas más horribles que que te digan que no al sexo, me parece mucho más terrible pisarle la cola a mi gato que esa mierda Mackenzie, fíjate lo que te digo 🤦. Así que nada, años después nuestro amoroso Ian, bueno como el pan, se entera de que despiden a Mackenzie del hospital en el que trabajaba y sin que ella lo sepa le da trabajo en el gimnasio donde el entrena. Respuesta de Kenzie a todo esto? Liarse con el dueño del gimnasio, Chris. Ya sabemos a quien darle el premio de las más perras... Bueno así que sucede algo, Ian se lesiona y Kenzie se ofrece a hacerle rehabilitación (llámale parva, lo quiere todo) y entonces en una de las sesiones se entera de la verdadera razón del rechazo (estúpida infantil de mierda deberías avergonzarte de tu actitud) y, ni corta ni perezosa se tira sobre Ian. No, en serio, os creéis que exagero pero no, se lanza sobre el y prácticamente como un perro en celo se tira sobre su pierna 🤦. Así que bueno el destino los interrumpe pero quedan en que ella va a hablar con Chris para dejarlo y poder estar con Ian. Pero no, no. Esta tía no es capaz de decirle nada, y Chris la chantajea con mierda absurda fingiendo que no sabe que Kenzie está colada por Ian (pero si lo sabe) y esta perra coge y le dice a Ian que no quiere estar con él que se queda con Chris. Claro que sí mujer! En vez de contarle lo que te pasa destroza más al tipo, porque si, eso lo ayuda a concentrarse más no te jode. FIN DE LOS SPOILERS.
En fin, que odié a Mackenzie todo el libro, de principio a fin. En cambio Ian fue la cosa más dulce del mundo y realmente creo que se merecía a alguien mejor que esta perra. Me quedaré siempre con el primer libro, merece muchísimo más la pena.
This was an easy, breezy romance featuring a MMA fighter and the gym's in-house staff nurse. It had some sweet scenes with Ian. He's a solid hero. He's strong, determined, protective, sweet and disciplined. It's his discipline to his sport and his friend pulling the "like a sister card" that caused Kenzie to feel rejected.
That prior "rejection" despite obvious mutual chemistry caused Kenzie to carelessly date her boss / Ian's friend. So there IS a love triangle / other man situation going on throughout the book. Kenzie is trying to both move on and make Ian feel jealous. For that reason, I don't like Kenzie. She's a bit of a wild card. I don't like how she was written. Her backstory is that she was in foster care but doesn't play much into her story other than to try and explain how she's poor and used to "fending for herself". Her character just isn't developed fully, in my opinion. She's kind of one dimensional.
I like Ian quite a bit though. And I'm glad to see them both together in the end.
As for the ending, it was a bit abrupt. The epilogue should have just been the next chapter. In fact, I think it needed another two chapters at least. I wanted to see more of the initial fallout effects with Chris.
All in all, I guess I'm sounding especially hard on the book because of being surprised with the love triangle trope. Had I known about it in advance, I probably would not have read this. HOWEVER, I AM glad that I did. It is actually a light-hearted book and like I said, easy breezy.
"I don't understand why you think it's your responsibility to make sure I get to my fight. I've been working on this my whole life, and I'll keep on working on it. But there are some things that aren't worth it. The thought of Chris trying to force himself on you..." I shook my head and felt the rage course through my veins. "There are no words for how angry that made me. I couldn't punch him enough. I wanted to kill him. I almost did. ~ Ian LeClaire
I know violence is never the answer, but Chris so deserved an even worse beat down than Ian LeClaire gave him. So that being said, I am totally in love with Ian LeClaire and have not been able to get him out of my brain. Light brown hair, chrystal blue eyes (given that I'm partial to green eyes, this is huge for me) and then there's his body. Ian is an MMA fighter so his body is godlike. Also, I adore the name Ian so check another plus in the swoon worthy book boyfriend column.
If this alone doesn't make you want to one click Reckless Love asap add to the mix, a feisty heroine, and a very sexy story about two people who are so right for each other you're yelling in your head "Get together now!" The bad thing is Ian and Mackenzie (that's the girl) keep denying themselves the relationship that they both want very much.
You've met these characters before in case you forgot. Kenzie is Alexa's best friend and Ian and Cade are good friends. You remember Hard to Love? Cade the porn star? Alexa the nurse that tends to Cade's um, problem and then falls in love with said porn star?
So apparently, one night while our foursome were out at a club, sparks flew between Mackenzie and Ian . When a grossly drunk guy puts his hands on Kenzie alpha male Ian is out on the dance floor to save her. Then the sexual tension was amped up like a million notches. Unfortunately, what should have been a night of crazy passion ended up to be a hot and heavy make out session with Ian dropping a very unsatisfied Kenzie at her apartment.
Here's stuff you need to know about Kenzie. She's spent her whole life in the foster care system, so she doesn't trust a whole lot of people and also doesn't think she's worthy of being loved. The truth is Kenzie is an amazing girl. She's gorgeous, she's kind and compassionate and she always puts other people's feelings before her own.
Fast forward six months when Ian and Kenzie are still both thinking about what could have been. Ian just feels he's worked so hard to become a professional fighter he can't have anything get in the way of that. Kenzie, well Ian's rejection has basically solidified her feeling no one will ever love her.
Of course you'll be rooting for Kenzie and Ian to get together. When Ian practically pushes her into dating Chris, the gym owner, you're going to be like what? You get it from the start that Chris is more into Kenzie than she is into him, but she keeps trying to make it work because Ian doesn't want her (she thinks).
At some point Ian gets badly hurt during his fight before he goes pro. Kenzie being a nurse and the club medic, offers to help Ian with rehab. And damn some of the sexiest things on the planet go on between these two in Ian's home gym. Interestingly enough, Ian is loaded. His private gym is about the size of Kenzie's whole apartment. I will tell you, I would be ecstatic to be pinned down to a mat with Ian between my legs.
Anyway, there are a couple of bumps in the road for Ian and Kenzie. Eventually Ian realizes, Kenzie isn't someone who would get in the way of his dream and wants to act on the feelings he's had for the better part of a year. Remember, Kenzie is still with Chris so here are the big questions:
Will Kenzie leave Chris when Ian decides he doesn't want to fight his feelings anymore? Will Ian's injury keep him from realizing his dream of being a professional fighter? Please by all means one click Reckless Love and read it for yourself.
I do love me some alpha males and Ian LeClaire is a big bad alpha. But he is also sweet and kind and fantastic on the mats in the gym (wink, wink). I'm giving Reckless Love a five lip smack review. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed there may be another book inside Kendall Ryan's head about Ian's little sister. I have a feeling that would make a great story!
Readers who like their romances full of sexual tension will get all that and more in this sensual MMA-themed story of two people drawn to each other who fight their attraction every step of the way. Though it's the follow-up to Ms. Ryan's Hard to Love it's easy to jump right into the action and crackling connection between fighter Ian and nurse Mackenzie. Theirs is a journey that's both frustrating yet engaging as they're both likable with actions that are understandable despite your frustration. By the end of the story you're left exhausted yet satisfied having gone though this romantic tug of war.
Ian is on the verge of making it big, if only he can keep focused on his fighting. He's a determined man with rules that he always abides by as he's prepping for a fight. He doesn't drink, doesn't eat anything unhealthy, and refrains from sex. These rules were always easy until he met Mackenzie, then it was endless frustration for him trying to keep his hands off her. When she starts dating the gym's owner his frustration grows and you can practically feel him vibrating with jealousy. Through it all though I adored Ian. He's strong and sexy but with a heart of gold. He wants only the best for Mackenzie and sees his breaking into the big leagues as a way to get her the best. He's a hard working man and I was rooting for him every step of the way, both in love and in war.
Mackenzie is a likable heroine who's experienced a lot of loss in life which has left her heart bruised and full of self-doubt. From the moment she meets Ian their connection is electric. When he rebuffs her though she's crushed and thinks it's because of her. Her low self-esteem saddened me but understandable considering her past. From then on their interactions teemed with sexual tension as they danced around each other in a sensual battle that frustrated me at times. Misunderstandings are the core of their issues and simply talking would've had them getting vertical much sooner. Her choice to date someone else was yet another poor choice that did nothing to alleviate her attraction to Ian, and in fact amped up the sexual tension. Despite all this, I still enjoyed their interactions as they were intense on every level.
From start to finish the flow of this story kept me fully immersed in their sensual tug of war. Their banter was rife with sexual tension too and kept me on edge waiting for them to give into each other. Ian was a highlight for me with his cocky attitude and bad boy thoughts and he's still showing up in my dreams. Surrounding these two are characters from the previous book and others that weigh in on this battle making it even more enjoyable to watch. Fans of sports-themed romances will enjoy the MMA scenes and lovers of romance will enjoy Ian and Mackenzie's sizzling connection in this winner from Ms. Ryan
If you have read Hard to Love by Kendall Ryan, you will remember Ian and McKenzie being best friends to Cade and Alexa. It was nice to see them make appearance in this book and it brought how much I loved that book!
Ian is a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter and trains at the gym where Kenzie works as a nurse to the athletes who train there, kind of like a physical therapist. Ian and Kenzie were out with their friends and they hit it off in a matter of seconds. Ian has rules when he is training for a fight; he trains hard, eats clean with no alcohol and he doesn't have sex! When things were about to get hot and heavy with the two, Ian stops what he is doing and takes her home. Since then Kenize has felt humiliated and has a feeling she is unwanted. Ian's and Kenzie's sexual tension builds and builds and gets to the point where the reader is ready to COMBUST, along with Kenize! It's very obvious that they want each other and Ian keeps denying his feelings for her. Kenzie tries to keep her mind off Ian by seeing someone else. The two can only hide their feelings for so long. When they do finally come together it was everything and more that I hoped it would be.
Kenzie is one of the best heroines in a book I've read lately! Everything she experienced or thought, felt or saw I experienced it along with her. I really liked her and never got annoyed with her and completely loved every moment reading about her. Her feelings for Ian were the same feelings that I felt. I fell in love with Ian in the exact same way she did. She's the real girl we as women want to be: independent. When Ian and Kenzie are together they define sexual anticipation. They are a walking, talking ball of sexiness! I don't think it's even possible to find the words to express just how much I really loved Ian. He oozes sex with his physical appearance but inside he's flawed and is vulnerable and complex. He will do anything for anyone that cares about. I thoroughly enjoyed this sexy, endearing, fun, and heartfelt story about Ian and Kenzie! This is another FIVE LEAVES review for Kendall Ryan! I totally recommend this book and Hard to Love, so that you can witness the hotness of the two before they even got together!! Thanks, Kendall for another great read!!
A gifted copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review by Jodie Rae.
I am a huge fan of Kendall Ryan’s writing so when I saw this book I knew I had to take the chance to read it. I have not read Cade and Alexa’s story but Filthy Beautiful Lies is probably one of my favorite series. This series is pretty close and after devouring this book I am definitely going to be picking up the first book.
MacKenzie has had a hard past, bouncing around foster homes she hasn’t had the foundation of love and support most people have had. She has a hard time letting people in and trusting them. Kenzie went through a major change through this book. She was someone who was scared and used every excuse under the sun to push people away. Kenzie became a person that learned to trust someone other than Alexa. Kenzie’s character had some seriously hilarious moments as well as some pretty heartbreaking ones. For someone that was never really shown compassion or how to care for someone she really gives it all for the people she loves.
Ian has been working his whole life trying to make it fighting professionally and now he is almost there. When he first met Kenzie he knew that she was different. They clicked on a level he never knew existed. But he pushed her away and now he definitely regrets it. I loved Ian as a character. He was sexy, funny, and protective. Ian gives everything to the people he loves and now he has to try and convince Kenzie that she belongs there too. He was definitely patient with her. Ian was amazing and I loved getting to know him.
The writing was everything that you should expect from Kendall Ryan. The characters were well developed and the plot was intense and sexy as hell. The chemistry was off the charts even if this was a pretty clean romance. I mean there were a few sex scenes but most of the steamy moments was the tension. I loved this story and this definitely needs to be one clicked by romance fans.
My Review: ARC provided (expected publication March 17th) 4 stars!
This book can be read as a standalone although I read the first book Hard to Love and I'm glad I did. I was able to get a glimpse of Ian and Kenzie and I personally am one that likes to read in order...but you definitely don't have to.
Ian (H) is a fighter and is training for his biggest fight yet, Kenzie (h) is a nurse that works in the gym Ian trains at. They both want each other but they don't act upon it. Their one night together was cut short and left Kenzie with a bitter taste towards Ian, and Ian still yearning. They had some major sexual tension and chemistry it was like "come on guys get on with it." Nope not that easy, Ian and Kenzie's boss/trainer wants Kenzie too...let the love triangle begin (kind of).
I really liked both of these characters! Ian was sweet but he was also a bit alpha (not over the top though), Kenzie was really likable and funny. She puts herself and feelings aside to help Ian succeed. She helped him with family problems and recover from an injury all while wanting him. There were times I wanted to yell at her and tell her to wake up but she truly believed what she was doing was for the best.
I love a angsty read where it takes you almost to the end before you really get any resolution! I felt that this book was like that, you weren't really sure what was going to happen. I really enjoyed both of these books in the series and I'm hoping to get more on Sofia and Jonah.
This was an amazing book. I am a huge fan of this author! Everything I had read by her has been brilliant and this book is no different. It was sexy, angsty, steamy, and had a few twists and turns along the way. This is a standalone but book two in a series.
This is Ian and MacKenzie's story. Ian lives a very disciplined life. He has dreams in his professional MMA fighting career and needs no distractions while he is achieving those dreams. He has never allowed anything to distract or tempt him until her. It's too bad the one woman he wants is irresistible and about to tempt him into breaking all of his rules.
Kenzie lives a life depending on herself and no one else. After an almost hook up with Ian only to be humiliated, she thinks the attraction is one sided. She wants Ian but thinks his feelings aren't reciprocated. When Ian gets injured and she helps him rehab, the sparks between these two begin to fly and resisting temptation can only happen for so long until you get... reckless.
Oh Ian and Kenzie... I wanted to smack the crap out of you at times then kiss you both senseless in a matter of pages. These two fought their feelings hard but fate will always have her way. Their road to a happy ending was not easy at all. They faced obstacles. I loved the banter between the two and the chemistry they had. And Ian was a naughty boy with a really filthy mouth. He really should come with a "panties will incinerate" warning.
* * ARC received on behalf of obsessed by books for an honest review * * * I just love Kendall Ryan, so I knew this book would be awesome. we have a very sexy mma fighter Ian who is very sweet, but cocky and when it comes to his feelings for a certain someone he tends to be a dick. Ian is just trying to look after his sister and be the next big mma champion but when it comes to Mckenzie he just can't seem to concentrate. Mckenzie is a nurse who's is just trying to survive she got laid off from the hospital and is working as a gyms nurse, I mean how could that be so bad when 95% of them are mma fighters, well it can be real bad when the one man you want doesn't want you, or so you think. one night out with friends a while back Mckenzie is introduced to Ian and they hit it off to the point they are headed back to his back seat of his car, to only get halted by Ian who decides he cant do this not because he doesn't want Mckenzie but his got a fight and there is no sex before a fight but he doesn't get the chance to explain. so here they are now fighting each other, fighting the attraction, the feelings. Ian feels his not good enough, Mckenzie doesn't want to put herself out there. with blocks in the way can these two let love win or will they be defeated. will Ian still have a shot, or will someone else come in and sweep Mckenzie off her feet. I loved this story, but I've not read a bad Kendall Ryan book either. awesome read 5 out of 5 a must read.
I have not had a chance to read the first book in this series, Hard to Love, so I pretty much went into this one blind and I have to say it read like a complete standalone and I didn't feel like I was missing anything pertinent to Ian and Kenzie's story. So feel free to pick this one up even if you haven't read the first one. Although, I will definitely be going back and reading Hard to Love since I did really enjoy Reckless Love and I do adore Kendall's writing.
Ian and Kenzie's story was pretty good. It had a good bit of steam, a lot of jealousy, a heaping ton of denial, and some action on the side. Ian doesn't have sex before a big fight. Myth or not, it works for him. Things get turned up with MacKenzie one night at a bar but after some heavy petting Ian turns her down. Kenzie still wants him but she is mad as sin at being led on and Ian definitely still wants her but now Kenzie seems to be dating a good friend of his. This story was kind of love triangly! (yeah, I made a word) but not REALLY. Haha! I loved Kenzie and Ian. They were funny and sweet and super sexy!
"So? I was drunk. Everyone's amazing when I'm drunk."
Kendall is getting to be one of my favorite go to authors when I need a good romantic story that has a good bit of angst but it isn't saturated in it. I do love her writing style and wit and I cannot wait for more from here. I am excited to see what is coming next! ~Amie
