Fame chewed me up and spat me out.
A stalker nearly destroyed what was left.
So I ran to Cedar Lake Falls, the last place anyone would look.
I’m Lucky Vale.
Once a rising star.
Now, a ghost hiding behind locked doors, sleepless nights, and music I can’t bear to touch.
Then I meet him.
Ethan Maddox—my quiet, disciplined next-door neighbor with a daughter who sings my songs and a past he refuses to talk about.
Ex-military.
Controlled.
Much too observant.
And somehow, impossibly, safe.
I tell myself not to fall.
But Ethan looks at me like he sees every broken piece I’ve tried to outrun.
And just when Cedar Lake Falls starts feeling like a place I could breathe again…my past finds me.
Danger doesn’t knock this time, it walks right in.
Ethan warned me he wasn’t a hero.
He never told me he was something far more dangerous.

A slow-burn, high-heat small-town romance with dark undercurrents, hidden pasts, and a love fierce enough to fight the shadows.

I write romance with heat, heart, messy emotions, and a touch of darkness. I’m an American anglophile with a quiet obsession for British accents and stories that hurt just enough before they heal.

Known for hoarding playlists, drinking too much tea, and giving British characters far too much page time. My weaknesses include slow burns, emotional chaos, and second chances.

Industry burnout, personal demons, small-town escape, and a broody British neighbor? Yes please.
This story delivers a vulnerable, emotionally rich romance between two beautifully flawed characters. I loved the dynamic between her chaotic energy and his quiet intensity. The emotional beats landed, and the connection felt real and earned. Such a strong debut — definitely an author to watch.

Thank you to the author for this ARC! 🩶

Lucky is an absolutely phenomenal debut novel! I absolutely loved Lucky, Ethan, and Lily, and I was very invested in their journey. There was a wonderful slow-burn, but it was written in a way that felt fast. I breezed through the book! Around the halfway point, the story really picked up in intensity in a way that I wasn't expecting. I was very here for that twist, and I was immediately locked in! If you enjoy small-town, slow-burning romances filled with dark pasts and rockstar energy, then consider adding Lucky to your TBR!

Quick Summary: A running towards life romance

My Review: Lucky by A.D. Drew is a "slow-burn, high-heat small-town romance with dark undercurrents, hidden pasts, and a love fierce enough to fight the shadows." It was released on 3/4/26.

About the Book: "Fame chewed me up and spat me out. A stalker nearly destroyed what was left. So I ran...

Now, a ghost hiding behind locked doors, sleepless nights, and music I can’t bear to touch.
Then I meet him."

In My Own Words: When the dark shadows of a life lived in the spotlight suffocate a rock star on the edge, she runs toward freedom in a small town. Now that she is isolated, not only does she have to come face to face with herself, but she also has to face those who push into her quiet space. Can she survive or will her past hunt her down and drown her once again?

About the Characters: This book had quite a range of characters. The primary cast were Ethan, a retired military ace and present day securities operative, Lucky, a rockstar in hiding trying to reclaim her life, Lily, a 12-year old only child who seems wise beyond her years and is an empath concerning her new neighbor, Banks, the only person who seems to care about Lucky in the world she left behind.

Other characters of interest included Sam, the sheriff, and Ethan's parents and sibling. They were an interesting group. I wanted to know more about Sam, for obvious reasons. There was a line mentioned about the sheriff, regarding Lily, that made me rather curious.

About the Couple: Ethan and Lucky were something to watch. They were like magnets in one instance then like hermits in the next. Once they gave themselves permission to act on what they were feeling, they went all in. Some readers tend to say the "spice was spicing." That would be accurate to say. With that said, after a while, I was over the repetition. (I'll leave it at that.)

About the Emotional Arc: The emotional play was ongoing, throughout the story. The mood, emotions, and feelings were colorful and varied. Intense, even. As a reader, I was able to appreciate Ethan, Lily, and Lucky's weighted stance on what was happening and/or on what had happened. There were three scenes that were heart particularly moving.

About the Conflict: This novel was a hotbed of activity related to conflict. Internal and external in nature - it did not end. Just when things seemed to calm down, one more thing tipped the scales. Things took a scary turn in the end x 2.

The flow of the story kept building towards what happened. Some of what occurred, I predicted. There was one piece, however, that I did not see coming. What the author did well, in regard to the major point of crisis, was to generate tension that was palpable.

Another thing I very quickly became aware of while reading was the author's use of figurative language and poetic action. Early on, she layered the story with metaphorical movement. It warmed up the writing and was sprinkled in as the story continued.

My Final Say: All in all, I liked this novel. It had all the working components needed for a good story. Pacing was mixed. Some of the character interactions were a blend of right on and umm...oh, I see. The inevitable confrontations were both twisted and memorable. The ending provided a full circle moment.

Just An Aside: This story had approximately 3 endings. That is what it read like, in my experience. It did not detract from the story, but I could not help but notice it.

Other: Readers who enjoy small town settings, found family connections, dark stalkings, and love out of nowhere relationships will like this one.

Lucky is on the run and ends up in a house next to Ethan and his daughter Lily. Lucky stole my heart almost instantly. She’s playful, kind, and a walking disaster in the best possible way. But honestly? I was completely over the moon for Ethan from the start. He’s steady, helpful, calm… and so incredibly protective (a girl can dream.. sigh)

“You go near her again, call her, follow her, breathe in her direction, and I won’t bother with warnings. I won’t bother with law. I’ll end the problem at the root, and no one will find what’s left of you.”

SWOON. Absolute swoon.

Ethan has his own demons to fight, and that part of the story really touched me. He’s clearly a strong character, someone who will go to extreme lengths to protect the people he loves, even when it costs him dearly.

The story itself reads smoothly and kept pulling me in. What stood out most to me was the plot, which felt fresh and unlike anything I’ve read before. It kept me reading all night long, because I just needed to know what would happen next. That alone made it incredibly refreshing. Some scenes are tough to get through emotionally, but in a way that makes the story feel raw, honest, and real.

I unfortunately have personal experience with trauma, and because of that, I know how accurately it’s portrayed here. It was very clear to me that the author truly took the time to understand how trauma works and how it manifests in someone’s life. One of the quotes I underlined was:

“Trauma does that. It teaches you to doubt the ground under your feet, to expect the knife before the touch. It rewires instinct until every shadow looks like a threat, every kindness feels like bait.”

All in all, this was an easy five stars for me. A beautiful, powerful debut that I will absolutely reread. I can’t wait to see what this author does next. (Hopefully a book about Sam?) (Pretty pleaseee)

Lucky
LUCKY is a book that sings a song of hurt and fear and love and hope and it’s brilliant. Lucky Vale aka “Lucky Pink”, curated rockstar commodity, is a woman who has reached the last straw. She’s 29 and has been a product since she was 14 years old. So Lucky is a girl on the verge. She could be on the verge of brilliance, on the verge of a nervous breakdown, on the verge of breaking her life and reshaping herself into whom she wants to be. She has fled LA and is staying in a cabin in upstate New York.
Her next door neighbor is British expat Ethan and his vibrant daughter Lily. He is not prepared when Lucky unleashes her special brand of chaos on him and actually sneaks past the walls he built when his wife died and he left the military.
The beautiful thing about their relationship is that they are enough. Lucky really sees the man behind the cold façade and embraces him, protectiveness, emotional constipation hiding a deep well of feelings, and all. Ethan sees Lucky and doesn’t think she’s Too Much like so many other people have said; to him she’s just right, even when she’s driving him nuts. It doesn’t come easy; this is an emotional slow burn that has some really rough moments when they say hurtful things out of fear. But it’s so very satisfying.
The story slips between the emotions like a chameleon. It seamlessly slides between romance, angst, sexytime, and suspense moments that had me on the edge of my kindle. The book has some of everything in just the right balance.
This is the author’s debut, at least, under this pseudonym. I would be honestly shocked if this was their first novel because of the skill with which they wield their pen and their dexterity at navigating complex emotions. Either way, this author is definitely one to watch.

I really enjoyed this debut by A.D. Drew! Lucky hit a lot of my favorite romance suspense tropes, especially the “woman on the run/in hiding” storyline where the MMC becomes her unexpected safe place. That part of the plot was done so well, and I was immediately pulled in by Lucky’s need to disappear and start over.

Ethan being ex-military drew me in right away. But what really sold me was how grounded and steady he was, especially as a dad. Lily was absolutely adorable and added so much heart to the story. Seeing Ethan as both a protector and a parent made him incredibly attractive and added depth. His chemistry with Lucky felt so natural and palpable, and I loved how he made her feel safe without trying to fix her; he truly saw her for the real person she is. Watching Lucky slowly heal, often in ways she didn’t even realize she needed, was really touching. She deserved someone solid and good, and Ethan was exactly that.

The suspense element was really intriguing. There was real danger, mystery, and tension throughout, and I genuinely couldn’t wait to see how it all unfolded. What I appreciated most was how balanced the book felt, because the plot was just as strong and cohesive as the romance, which isn’t always easy to pull off.

One of my favorite aspects was the writing style itself. The prose uses shorter sentences and fewer long paragraphs, and I thought it worked perfectly for the tone of the story. It gave everything a sharper, more urgent feel and kept the pacing tight, which I always appreciate. Stylistically, this reminded me of a darker Catherine Cowles vibe, with hints of A.L. Jackson or Corinne Michaels.

Lucky was such a strong, engaging debut with great chemistry, emotional depth, and suspense I devoured! I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on what A.D. Drew writes next.

Thank you to NetGalley, A.D. Drew, and Afterglow Books for the eARC of this book.

I really enjoyed this story Lucky is a Rockstar but you get to know her underneath the persona and you really feel for her and her situation she's been under a microscope for so long that she is barely holding herself together on a daily basis... she is in desperate need for a vacation/break from her world and everything else she is running from.

Once meeting Ethan and his daughter Lily you fall in love with both of them as well Ethan is at first gruff on the exterior but he's just a regular guy trying to take care of his daughter the best way he knows how while living with his own regrets about his past. Once Lucky and Ethan come together they help each other heal and you can see their feelings grow throughout the book it's truly beautiful even when Lucky tries to push Ethan away before he leaves her like she feels everyone else in her life does he understands she's going thru a lot and just stays with her as the strong steady presence she needs.

Once her past comes back in without warning Lucky finds that Ethan is exactly who she needs behind her and he is truly a force to be reckoned with... no one harms what is his and he has claimed Lucky as his *Swoon*

The only thing that I felt got a bit in the way of the story was all the spicy times... while I don't mind spice in a book I felt that if they were on high alert worrying about things the last thing they should have been doing was making themselves vulnerable with spicy times all over both of their homes.

This was a great first book from this Indie author and I can't wait to read more from this author!

This was less rockstar romance and more about recovering from being one and I’m perfectly okay with how it turned out.

Lucky is hiding out and contemplating her future while trying to heal from past trauma. Ethan is the strong, silent type, giving her the space she needs to work through her struggles while quietly absorbing the chaos she brings into his life.

While this story is soft and healing at its core, it also delivers some genuinely high-stakes tension and action. When the past refuses to stay buried, the danger becomes very real, very fast — adding a layer of intensity that raises the emotional stakes in a big way.

Tropes/themes:

* Single dad
* Ex-military
* Found family
* PTSD/anxiety representation
* Love after loss
* Mutual healing
* Slow burn — but when it ignites, it’s ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
* Secrets

Some CWs:

* Assault – physical & implied SA (not descriptive)
* Kidnapping
* Panic attacks
* Death

All in all, this was a really strong debut. There’s a bit of repetition as they battle their inner turmoil, but overall it’s a soft, well-written story about healing, growth, and finding love again. With moments of high-stakes tension that balance the tenderness beautifully.

There was meaningful character growth from both MCs. Lucky’s journey toward reclaiming herself felt raw and empowering. Ethan is carrying deep guilt and grief from his past, and watching him work through that and slowly open his heart again added so much emotional depth. Their relationship never felt one-sided. They truly support and heal each other.

Their banter made me chuckle, and I wouldn’t be surprised (or disappointed!) to see a Charlotte & Banks story down the line.

Thank you to the author for the ARC!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lucky by A.D. Drew absolutely wrecked me in the best way.

This story is quiet and haunting at first, like holding your breath without realizing it. Lucky is raw and bruised from fame, fear, and a past that refuses to loosen its grip. Watching her try to exist again, not as a star but as a woman who just wants peace, felt painfully real.

And then there is Ethan. Steady. Observant. Protective in that calm, lethal way that makes you feel safe without ever raising his voice. The kind of man who does not make promises lightly, but once he’s in, he’s all in. His relationship with his daughter added so much heart to this story, and the way she connects to Lucky through music was beautiful and bittersweet.

The slow burn here is delicious. Every look, every small moment, every almost confession builds tension until it’s impossible not to ache for them. When the heat finally hits, it feels earned and intense, charged with emotion rather than rushed passion.

What really stood out was the balance between tenderness and danger. Just when Cedar Lake Falls starts to feel like a sanctuary, the darkness creeps back in, reminding you that healing is never simple and love sometimes means standing in the line of fire.

Lucky is emotional, suspenseful, romantic, and deeply human. If you love small town romances with broken characters, protective heroes, and a love that feels like shelter and war all at once, this one is an absolute must read. 💔🔥✨

❤️ I’m honestly blown away that this is a debut. This book completely pulled me in and did not let go.

Lucky’s story hooked me right away. She’s messy, brave, and quietly vulnerable in a way that feels incredibly real. Watching her try to rebuild her life after everything she’s been through was both heartbreaking and hopeful. Her journey felt raw and authentic, especially in how the story handled trauma and healing.

Oh and then we have our little British guy Ethan… whew. Calm, steady, ex-military, and fiercely protective — he is peak book boyfriend material🔥. What really made him stand out, though, was what an amazing father her was to Lily. His relationship with Lily added so much warmth and emotional depth, and I loved how gently he showed up for Lucky without trying to “fix” her.

The chemistry between Lucky and Ethan is the perfect slow burn.

I also really appreciated how well the suspense and romance were balanced. There’s genuine danger and tension threaded throughout the story, but it never overshadows the heart of the romance. The writing style was 10/10 and kept me wanting more.

Overall, this was an easy five-star read for me. Emotional, suspenseful, and full of heart, it’s an incredibly strong debut that left me eager for whatever A.D. Drew writes next. Highly recommend for readers who love protective heroes, wounded but resilient heroines, and slow-burn romance with real emotional weight. 💫

Thank you to the author for the eARC copy of the book! This is my honest and voluntary review! 😊🖤

Lucky follows FMC Lucky Vale, rockstar known as Lucky Pink of the band Rebel June, as she finds herself stepping out of the spotlight of L.A. to heal and decompress in the lake town of Cedar Falls. She rents a lake house but, her lock is frozen so she enlists the help of her neighbor, MMC Ethan Maddox, single dad and former military officer, in the middle of the night to help her gain entry to her rental lake house. Both Lucky and Ethan have troubled pasts that they seem to be running from that impact their relationships.

Lucky is loud, chaotic, lighting in a bottle and Ethan is calm, collected, reserved, and a bit grumpy. The dynamic and banter between these two is so good. Both of the MCs background stories are handled with such care on the sensitive topics that they encompass. I felt completely immersed in this world and only wanted the best for our MCs. I fell in love with all the characters and only wanted the best for them. This book is beautifully written and definitely worth the read! I can’t wait to read more from A.D. Drew and to see where their writing takes us in the future.

This book is definitely spicy and I definitely recommend reading and understanding the trigger warnings associated with this title. Some of the topics are really heavy but, all were handled with care and written beautifully.

Some stories don’t just pull you in… they lock the door behind you.

Lucky by A.D. Drew completely hooked me from the first chapter. A fallen star hiding in a small town? Ex-military single dad next door? Yes please.

Lucky’s “woman on the run” storyline is one of my favorite tropes, and it was done so well here. You can feel her desperation to disappear, to breathe, to be someone other than the version fame tried to destroy. Watching her slowly heal—sometimes without even realizing it—was honestly so touching.

And Ethan? Steady. Observant. Protective without being overbearing. Seeing him as both a disciplined ex-military man and a devoted dad made him incredibly attractive. Lily added so much heart to the story, and I loved that Ethan didn’t try to fix Lucky—he simply saw her. Their chemistry felt natural, intense, and earned.

The suspense kept the tension high the entire time. There was real danger woven through the romance, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. What stood out most to me was how balanced it all felt—the plot was just as strong as the love story, which isn’t easy to pull off.

Such a strong debut with emotional depth, great chemistry, and just the right amount of edge. I’ll definitely be watching for what A.D. Drew writes next.

What a fantastic gem of a debut! I loved this sweet, romantic small town romance filled with thrilling moments. Lucky Pink goes to Cedar Lake Falls to escape lots of things, stardom, a dangerous Stalker, worn out, anxiety filled she just wants some sort of normality, where she can find some solace. What she finds is so much more. A sweet young girl, Lily lives door with her 'Lumberjack' dad Ethan Maddox.
Being British I loved that the author A.D. Drew made references of Ethans British quirks, loving his accent, his loud, loving family who embrace Lucky as one of their own.
There were many moments i felt Lucky's pain, what trauma she had gone through to leave her with debilitating anxiety, but slowly she gained strength due to Ethan being her protector.
When her past comes running to Cedar Lake Falls she feels her world has ended, violated. Ethan becomes so much more , dangerous, ex military he exels in what he knows best.
Lucky finds herself in Cedar Lake Falls, she becomes just Lucky, no expectations, just joyous times she tteasures and cannot wait to explore with her new family.
Totally recommend this, hopefully more side characters will get their own books as I want more happy times at Cedar Lake Falls. Thanks to the Author for sending me an ARC, I devoured it!

A great debut. Lucky is a first-person POV contemporary romance, a find-yourself story that unfolds beautifully. I loved the characters and the arc of the story. There is so much to love about this book—it was an easy read, and the author didn’t treat the reader as limited. The writing, while accessible, is still sophisticated and asks us to read between the lines.

Where this book lost me a little was in the staccato prose. While I appreciated the author’s note at the beginning about em dashes (which I can relate to, because I’m an em-dash girly myself), I still felt the writing came across as a little stilted at times, and I personally needed more flow. There were moments where the author told me about the atmosphere through metaphors or smiles rather than demonstrating how or why it felt that way.

Is this a big deal? No. This book is solidly written and has a lot of heart. But it was something that continually stood out to me. So, food for thought—if you struggle with lots of fragments and short sentences in the books you’re reading, you’ve been warned. That said, I still loved this read.

I was lucky to get a ARC of lucky, A steamy and spicy, slow burn, dark ish romance, stalker, protecting whats mine, touch her and die.

When rockstar lucky goes into hiding from the world in Cedar Lake Falls, she doesnt expect her neighbour to be a 'sexy lumberjack man' who sees she is a mess, broken, covering her self to go unnoticed, hiding, fighting her anxiety and truama.

Ex-army Ethan is a single dad who's an 'emotionally constipated', 'sexy murder- wolf who fixes things whenever he feels feelings', and protects those he cares for, having learnt from his past mistakes. Ethan helps Lucky as much as it annoys and pains him to help her.

They finally break down their walls, starting to let each other in, When Ethan works out the truth about who lucky is and why she is here, he will do whatever it takes to protect her and keep her safe when her past comes back, to save her.
Ethan and Lily help Lucky get the music back, and come the artist she wants to be not the one she was forced to be.

I received this as an ARC.

This didn’t feel like a debut novel. It took me two days only because I had to work, otherwise this would have been a one day read. Lucky is star who needs to escape her chaotic life and decides to hide out in a small town where she meets her neighbor Ethan and his little girl. He’s slightly British(was raised in the states since his teen years) and he tries hard to stay away from Lucky but he just can’t. He has his own demons that he is battling but she breaks through all his walls as he does hers. Her life has been so hard, and you feel the pain she's been through.

Their love story wasn’t easy, it was messy, but the best ones always are. When her demons come knocking, he’s there to help her conquer them.

The book is written like a song, and the writing is almost lyrical. Its descriptive in a way that makes you feel like you are there experiencing it. I can’t wait for the release and for more people to read Lucky.

✨ARC Review✨

This is a story about music, love, and finding safety when you feel lost.

Lucky has spent most of her life running, searching for peace and a place where she can finally breathe. When she meets Ethan, everything changes in the most unexpected way.

He becomes her shelter, her calm, and the one person who shows her what it means to feel protected and seen.

His words carry all the emotion of this story:

"You take two steps, I'll take two with you. You collapse, I'll catch you. You need air, I'll open every fucking window. But I'm not letting you go down there alone."

"I need you to know... I care about you. More than I probably should. More than anyone should care about anyone. And I don't want to lose you."

In the end, Lucky doesn't just find love she finds peace, safety, and a place to finally call home. Through music and connection, she learns that sometimes home is not a place, but a person.

What a fabulous story about a musician that has spent her life in the spotlight and been exploited by others for their own gain. Even to the point of being stalked! Lucky is living in a constant state of heightened anxiety but begins to find calm in the presence of Ethan. The silent but deadly single dad that lives next door knows there's more to her story but gives her the space to open up on her terms, until she doesn't but he finds out her story anyway. Just before everything is about to implode.
This story had me hooked from the beginning even though it's a slow burn. At times I was frustrated when Ethan would pull back but it was soooo worth the wait.
The suspense builds in the last quarter of the book and I struggled to put it down. Had my adrenaline pumping!
A.D. Drew is an excellent author and added to my favourites list.
I can't wait to see what happens with Banks & Charlotte next. Please tell me there's a story with these two!

Took me a bit to get into it, but really picked up about half way for me, other than possibly a few too many repetitive type spice scenes. I like spice, a lot 😎, it just felt like that was all that happened without much variety for a bit midway. However I did enjoy the emotional journey, and the level of acceptance and understanding Ethan demonstrated towards Lucky and her trauma responses. There wasn’t the misunderstanding trope creating angst, just the working through life’s challenges and difficult pasts with respect and little hiccups. The thriller feel of the stalker and the outcome was very satisfying, as was the career path issues - no spoilers, read it and see what I mean 😉. Small town romance but with the celebrity twist, particularly child star now adult, and the stalker from Hell. A solid 4 star for me, and a fantastic effort for a debut novel in the highly competitive romance genre.

Ethan and Lucky’s story - it certainly went in a direction I didn’t quite expect.
And it was well worth it.

She’s a celebrity in hiding from scandal, gossip, rumours, her toxic manager/agent and her past….
He’s a widowed single dad to his daughter Lily, and is carrying guilt about his late wife.
It took a while for me to warm up to him. He was a bit of an interesting character, but once he worked out what was going on, he was waving those green flags everywhere.
Protective, supportive, resourceful, and willing to go dark for her…

So many emotions in this. Happiness and joy, heartbreak, and then devastation when her stalker is released and she shuts down… you hope it works out, but it had me on the edge of my seat.

I definitely stayed up way too late reading this, and I’ll pay for it…. But totally worth it.

this is a story about Lucky us a chaotic, vibrant musician, who spent most her childhood in foster care until she was found, used and abused by a music producer, when she had a breakdown Lucky ran to a small town. her new neighbour Ethan, is an ex military, widow and father with his own battles with connections and runs solely on routine and structured.
their connection begins with Ethan's daughter and slowly feelings begin to develop, then she spirals when she finds out her ex stalker is released from prison and tracks her down, by this time Ethan has the touch her and die vibes.

I recommend this story, I did find it hard to begin with in regards to understanding the story but about 1/4 way through the storyline became clear and the.past trumas were known and became relevant. and the spice top notch.

ARC Review
At first glance, this feels like a classic small-town reset. A woman leaves behind a high-profile life and lands somewhere quiet, remote, almost storybook. A guarded local man lives slowly, politely, predictably. You can almost hear the Hallmark soundtrack warming up.

But this story doesn’t stay soft.

Beneath the mountain air and slow routines, there’s something heavier breathing under the surface. The past isn’t just backstory here, it’s a living thing. The tension isn’t just romantic, it’s protective. What starts as quiet and contained slowly tightens, darkens, and asks harder questions about identity, safety, and what it really means to start over.

It balances softness with edge, charm with unease. You settle in expecting cozy… and find yourself bracing for impact instead. 🔥

I received this book as an ARC and am soooo happy I did.

Lucky had been taken advantage of for so long, has been through so much hard times that she just survives. Not lives, but does everything to survive.
When she ends up in the small town, her life changes and she FINALLY gets to experience what a young woman is supposed to experience. Her bond with the neighbor's daughter made me choke up a few times. As I am writing this, tears pool in my eyes because this book just melts my heart.
I love A.D.'s writing, because you get to FEEL what the characters feel.
Thank you, A.D. for sharing this beautiful story with all of us.
This book will always have a special place in my heart.
I will recommend this to anyone. Such a sexy, soul-gripping, suspenseful love story that will make you believe in love. And let me tell you: Everyone deserves this kind of heart gripping, beautiful and unconditional love.

Lucky by A.D. Drew completely surprised me in the best way. From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The writing is sharp, immersive, and emotionally charged without ever feeling forced. Every scene felt intentional, and the tension builds in a way that keeps you flipping pages way past bedtime.

The characters are layered and realistic flawed, compelling, and impossible not to root for. The chemistry? Off the charts. The emotional depth? Chef’s kiss. I loved how the story balanced intensity with heart, making the journey feel raw and authentic.

If you’re looking for a book that delivers strong character development, addictive pacing, and moments that will live rent-free in your head, Lucky absolutely delivers.

Huge thank you for the ARC — this one is staying with me.

I could not put the book down. When I started reading. I thought, to read a nice slow romance. But boy, what a page turner.
The beginning starts slow. With Lucky coming to Cedar Lake Falls. To take a break from her music career.
Where she meets her neighbour Ethan. A men who keeps to himself, living with his daughter.
He finds her loud and chaotic. Where he is structured.
After a film leeks online, by Ethan's daughter.
Her life is never going to be the same.
Lucky starts out as a scared women. Hidding behind baggy clothes. But the further you read.
You see her grow as a women standing up for herself.
Ethan, the man, who wants to be on his own. Beggins to up for love. Fighting for who he cares for.
In the end, they both find what they never thought would be in the cards for them.

What a refreshing romance!! I absolutely loved Lucky and Ethan’s story. I immediately felt a connection with the characters. I feel like l could be right there with them, having a cup of coffee, listening to lucky and lily play the guitar and sing, Ethan doing lumberjack stuff, all while staring out over the beautiful lake.

AD Drew made sure the plot was nice and juicy and left me chasing each chapter well into the night!!

I would also like to add that Sam may have a small role, but I feel he has loads of secrets that I’d love to unravel in his own story. 🤭😉

Thank you so much for the opportunity to support your work as an ARC reader! I’m looking forward to many more from you.

This book was very unique and I loved every page of it. You have the small town setting with a new neighbor moving it. The broody neighborhood sets Lucky’s heart into feeling mode after all the years of trauma. Ethan thinks his new neighbor is too pretty, aloof, loud, and definitely makes his quiet and calm life feel like it might be shifting. When things start to happen will his past skills help save his family or will things crumble along with his newly beating heart. I was given an ARC for an honest review.

The entire time I was reading this story, the millennial in me kept thinking, oh my gosh this could be about Britney Spears! Especially with the title, Lucky.

This is a character-driven rockstar romance where SHE is the celebrity and HE is the normal, dad-next-door which I LOVED!

You get a little bit of everything in here, including a light stalker/thriller subplot that kept things interesting.

And when I tell you, once the spice kicks in it really does spice it up!

This is a really strong debut from A.D. Drew and I'm excited to see what she puts out next!
