He was assigned to protect her. She was never supposed to want him.
Steelwood and Crimson Road are on the brink of all-out bloodshed, and my club gives me one job—babysit Raven while they take care of business.
She’s trouble wrapped in sharp edges. Mean-mouthed. Closed off. Untouchable.
I only say yes because this is my last hoop to jump through before I earn my patch. One or two days. That’s it.
Easy.
Except Raven doesn’t scare easily, doesn’t soften, and sure as hell doesn’t back down when I push.
The more she hates me, the more I want to see what she does when she finally snaps.
I don’t need protection. I don’t need company. And I definitely don’t need Jinx—loud, cocky, and way too interested in getting under my skin.
Everyone knows to leave me alone.
He doesn’t listen.
He watches. Prods. Smirks like he sees something no one else ever has.
I tell myself I hate him. I tell myself this fire between us is just anger.
But when the walls come down, and the world outside turns violent, it’s not pain we’re trading—it’s heat.
Once Jinx gets his hands on me, there’s no pretending this is just a job anymore.
Each story in the Steelwood MC series is part of a shared storyline that is best enjoyed in order. Each couple ends with a HFN ending that will result in their HEA by the end of the series! Dark themes are present!
The war is heating up and every female is getting protection. Jinx is a prospect for the Steelwood MC and would like nothing more than to get his full patch so he makes a deal with Judge that if he takes the duty of protecting Raven, he would receive it. Nobody else wanted that job because Raven was a sharp-tongued woman with so many walls up that nobody has been able to bring them down. Jinx does everything he can to push her buttons just to get a reaction from her.
You know what they say about love and hate having a fine line between them. These two don’t just simmer, they ignite. This was an awesome book full of steam, action and Jinx sticking around to see what was really beneath all of the hard walls that Raven had put up. Loved it.
JINX is Book 5 of the Steelwood MC series. It's a short and steamy, enemies-to-lovers, slow-burn, reverse grumpy-sunshine, forced-proximity, curvy virgin gets her biker romance. Raven is a curvy, grumpy, spitfire who works behind the bar at the Steelwood MC clubhouse. JINX Is a charming, hunky prospect with a playboy reputation. As the war with the Crimson Road MC continues, Judge decides all females need bodyguards. JINX offers to be hers in hopes he can earn his patch. As they spend time together, feelings start to change. The banter between these two was hysterical, the chemistry was hot, and the ending was so happy. I loved that they could both finally let each other in.
His job is to protect her until the battle is over. He makes her crazy and she hates him. But that’s just a cover story. Great story, gruff, loyal, loving characters and a happy ending to smile for.
Sometimes a book grabs you by the collar, smirks in your face, and dares you not to fall in love. Jinx is that book.
Steelwood and Crimson Road are ready to tear each other apart, and in the middle of all this tension sits one very unlucky biker—Jinx—assigned to the task no one wants: keeping Raven out of trouble. Just watch her. Just keep her safe. Easy, right?
Except Raven is the definition of do-not-tell-me-what-to-do. Sharp tongue. Sharper stare. Guarded like a fortress. She’s the kind of heroine who doesn’t ask for protection and will snarl if you offer it anyway. And Jinx? Loud, cocky, persistent, and very, very good at getting under her skin.
Their chemistry doesn’t simmer—it sparks, crackles, burns through every page like a fuse lit at both ends. The more Raven bites, the more Jinx grins. The more he pushes, the harder she pushes back. And god, the tension? Thick enough to cut with a combat knife.
This isn’t the typical sunshine/grump dynamic. It’s snark meets wildfire. It’s hate-me-all-you-want, I’m not going anywhere.
But when the violence outside closes in, when lines blur and bullets start flying, everything changes. Rage melts into heat. Walls crumble into want. Their enemies may be ruthless, but nothing hits harder than the moment Raven finally stops pretending she doesn’t want him.
Because once Jinx touches her—really touches her—there’s no denying it anymore. No way this is just a job. No way either of them walks away unburned.
If you love: 🏍️ MC romance with grit and danger 🔥 Enemies-to-lovers that feel like sparks on gasoline 💥 Forced proximity with tension so thick it fogs the windows 🖤 A hard-shelled heroine who finally lets someone in 💋 Heat that hits like a sucker punch then lingers
—this book will feed your feral romance-loving heart.
Jinx is raw, reckless in the best way, and deeply addictive. It’s about two broken edges finding their perfect match—sharp, messy, and impossible to put down. I devoured this in one sitting, teeth clenched and smiling the whole damn time.
This isn’t protection. It’s obsession. And watching them fall? Absolutely delicious.
Raven. Jinx. Jinx is social, happy-go-lucky, and very into drinking and women. Especially women. The club ho-Ho-hos adore him. Raven, not so much. Raven keeps very much separate from everyone except her sister, Penelope. She’s abrasive, and most of the men have been on the wrong side of her sharp and sometimes vicious tongue. These opposites are thrown together when the war between Steelwood and its rival heats to boiling and each of the ol’ ladies and female family gets a bodyguard. When Judge asks for volunteers to guard Raven… *crickets*. Jinx finally agrees to do it in exchange for a full patch. Both characters have trauma in their past that has shaped them. I find it very interesting that Jinx tells Raven about his when she asks, but that they don’t discuss hers, or why she’s so protective of her sister. Even as they get closer, Raven remains Raven, and I like that she doesn’t suddenly become all hearts and flowers just because she falls in love. Jinx does some growing up, but doesn’t suddenly go all Goth just because he’s with Raven. (BTW, it’s awesome that there’s a raven emoji). I didn’t think that I would like these characters, Jinx in particular. I was afraid they would be cardboard cutouts or stereotypical. Opposites attract and forced proximity put together can be a tough double trope to keep interesting. But Stone makes the characters feel realistic while keeping them interesting. The book starts off as Raven, Jinx. And becomes Raven and Jinx without compromising either character.

I've been SOOO waiting to read this one!! This series has been fantastic. Its got MC stuff, but lots of edgy issues and people who don't like to admit feelings, let alone act on them. I've been anxiously awaiting this book.
Jinx is known for his sly, edgy, and sometimes annoying personality. He has his reasons, and being part of the MC means everything. He's trying to leave prospect life behind and he's got his chance.....just a little looking after Raven.
Raven is pure fire and anger. She has been written SO well. She's got tons of levels, reasons for how she protects her and her sister to this day, and doesn't mince her words. She is really stronger than most MC characters. She wants no part of Jinx's keeping an eye on her due to some danger headed their way, but its EPIC!!!
Seeing behind the door of Raven and Jinx feels like we are being given hidden easter eggs right on the page. You can see the draw to each other, being so different, but really bonded on.a level of pain not many get the truth behind. It was amazing to see them open up, even if it only came in bits and pieces until the end.
I love that Raven finally gets a HEA thats still wrapped in lots of emotions. It felt right that Raven finally got someone to share the load, and Jinx a reason to be more than anyone ever told him he could be. SOOO worth the read!
When the prospects get asked to guard one of the women, Raven, there are no immediate takers. Then Jinx offers in return for getting patched in sooner. Judge accepts his offer, and the fun begins for Jinx.
Raven can look after herself; she has been doing it all her life, but with the women under threat, Judge will not hear of it. The annoying thing is, she has been paired with Jinx, the confident, pain-in-the-backside prospect. How the sweet butts are all over him mystifies her; he's just an annoying man. Yet, love and hate are two different sides of the same coin, and one can soon turn into the other when you're in proximity to a person.
Jinx soon realises there is more to Raven than meets the eye, the walls she carefully erected soon start crumbling, and the woman he sees underneath is completely different from her persona. This woman is warm, loving, and keeps him on his toes. She will face him head-on. This woman has gotten so far under his skin. Will she ever trust him enough to take things further?.

The Right Man to Heal Her Broken Heart - Raven wasn’t happy about being assigned protection, but having Jinx assigned as her protective detail took her anger to another level, as he always made a point pushing her buttons. Jinx really enjoyed the time he got to spend with Raven, as he was able to tease her and she was stuck with him. However, the growing tension between Raven and Jinx soon escalated into an unexpected heated encounter, but neither one of them was ready to acknowledge their feelings, which led to awkward moments.
Unfortunately, Raven and Jinx’s stubbornness and trust issues nearly cost them a chance to be together, but he finally managed to get out of his own way and grabbed the chance to explore their connection. This was such a fun read with great banter, a bit of drama and a lot of steam. The love hate pull towards each other the character had going on, was exciting and had me glued to the pages all the way from the beginning until the end.

Loved the hostility and tension between Jinx and Raven in this story. They both has personal shields in place and they just clashed constantly. While we get some background on Jinx, the lack of background regarding Raven's anger and hatred really left me feeling cheated by the end. As the saying goes, there's a thin line between live and hate, and this was definately the case for this couple. Even while I say this I know it's useless, as Raven would never... but she desperately needs therapy. There's allot of disjointed thoughts in her internal monologs and she's obviously severely traumatized despite her apparent high level of functioning (if you count her bar-kerp spot as stable since Jodge wouldn't fire her and rise losing Pen😉). Anyway, overall, it flowed okay (again Raven was a bit skattered) and I loved both these MCs... eventually.

Well tie me up and call me finished. I loved this book! Raven and Jinx were the best in this book. She’s a firecracker, strong and stubborn. And he’s the guy who loves to rub her the wrong way. And the two together are fire. I loved the back and forth, the push and pull between these two. He truly wanted to protect her even though she was hell bent on taking care of herself. The banter between these two was great. And the flames were even greater. I was gripping this book while turning pages like my fingers were on fire. This is the first book I’ve read by this author. But in definitely going back to read all the others.
Jinx volunteers to watch over Raven, sister to his Pres's Old Lady. He figures this will be the last thing he needs to do to get his patch. Raven is not an easy person, she has been hurt a lot and angers covers all that. I loved how she took him on in the rink and did not back down.
Raven did not want any one watching her, she could take care of herself. Jinx does not leave her alone, he is in her space 24/7. When things start to heat between them, it what neither expected.
Jinx is such a player until he hooks up with Raven, there is no going back. Jinx is just what Raven needed.

This is Book 5 of the Steelwood MC series. It is best to read the books in series order for maximum enjoyment.
'He was assigned to protect her. She was never supposed to want him.'
The characters were very complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building continues to excel and impress. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend this series.

Jinx is tasked with watching over Raven the twin with anger issues and a mean streak. Jinx is thinking this is about to be the worst assignment ever. Then he sees sides of her no one else has and things get wild. It’s a reverse grumpy sunshine in the MC world with a HEA that fits these two perfectly.

With trouble brewing Raven is stuck with Jinx. To protect her they said, but he has to survive her before they either kill or kiss each other. A tense tough girl romance with just the fella to fall.

Oh how the player falls...for the woman he thinks he hates and who thinks she hates him. This was a character's story I was waiting for and wasn't disappointed! So glad he had her as his other half. They both fought their feelings so hard haha.
Love this book and it's series and would recommend it to anyone who loves to read about MC life and their families and friends 🧡 and Julia Stone is an amazing writer ❤️
