but she and her replicating powers have caught the interest of Woman ..Bullseye aka Lady Bullseye..

Spinning out of Spider-Boy, we get Spider-Girl! No, not that one. No, not that one either. This one's new, a mutant who can mirror other powered characters' powers. She fought Spider-Boy and got some permanent upgrades, and was trained by Bullseye - she's also like, twelve, so there's that.

This feels a bit disjointed. The first five issues build decently on one another as Maka runs into Lady Bullseye, as well as old Spider-Man foes Paper Doll and Vermin, while a plot by Tombstone unravels in the background. It's not entirely well-defined what he's trying to do aside from unlock some killer robot drone machine, and then everything ends quite abruptly when the X-Men show up.

The final two issues don't follow-up on that at all, instead sending Maka home to Hawaii for an adventure involving giant dog men and a huge centipede. Lotsa bugs in this book. These two are fine, but I would have liked some closure on the opening story rather than what we got here. I wonder how abrupt the cancellation was, since 7 issues is a weird number to get overall when most books these days are either five or ten.

The artwork's fine as well. There's three or four artists across the seven issues, but they're all fairly similar, which is both a blessing and a curse.

I was sceptical when I saw that Spider-Girl was getting her own series, and I think I was right to be. These seven issues aren't bad at all, but there's a lot left unresolved.

My 8-year old loved this book. “10 stars” was her official review after I read it to her. Alas, Goodreads only goes to five.

Read this with my son and it’s disappointing the story was ended so abruptly without much closure.
