A bit of a slower issue with a bulk of having Peter talk with May and MJ. I didn't mind this as it allows for some heart to take center stage to let the event build.

Non spoiler alert for ASM 23

While it is part of a crossover, this issue is first and foremost the conclusion of the last two storylines with Peter discovering some important things and catching up with loved ones. Joe Kelly writes a lot of funny meta subtext and Ed McGuinness provides splendid artwork. We will see how this crossover changes the current status quo but I have to say that the symbiote makes excellent jokes which really give extra spice to the book.

I’d give this book 4 stars because Joe Kelly writes and amazing May Parker, probably the best since JMS and that means a lot.

It was cute to see MJ pop out of Venom and Peter use his mask as a paper bag, but there really needs to be someone addressing the elephant in the room. Why did they have the conversation in public where everyone could see their secret identities?

And poor Shocker. His death feels like an afterthought.

why

Modern Spiderman is just people telling Peter he sucks for things completely out of his control. But I'm still reading.

I just think i dislike joe kelly as a writer. Storywise it seems like there should be some substance. But it falls flat.
