At the end of the day, sometimes it’s about who you want to share a basket of fries with🍟…IYKYK. This story follows Noah and Quinn, a couple in crisis at a crossroads in their marriage. Quinn signs them up for a marriage retreat in hopes of salvaging their relationship, and they both head to the desert to reconnect. Enter Beck, one of the counselors at the retreat, who instantly connects with Quinn over a basket of fries . Unbeknownst to Quinn, Beck was once in a relationship with Noah (that ended VERY poorly 💔), and he has been assigned as their mentor for the retreat . What follows is a VERY heartfelt (and SEXY ❤️🔥) healing journey for all three of them as they seek to explore their feelings, RECONNECT, and mend their broken relationships ❤️🩹.
I enjoyed this story more than I thought I would. Kayla’s books are usually a good time, but I think she did a terrific job capturing the complexities of relationships and the benefits of open communication. She didn’t shy away from the hard stuff and did a great job creating relatable characters in Quinn, Noah and Beck. My favorite parts were when they were working on learning to just BREATHE together 💓. To become aware of one another again. My biggest critique is that it felt at times that there was SO much blame put on Noah for his past behaviors. While a lot of them were valid, I feel like Beck and Quinn were a little tough on him and didn’t really come to the realization that they weren’t completely innocent in their past interactions with Noah. I don’t know. Noah just took a LOT of criticism and it felt a little unfair at some points. That being said, Kayla did a great job illustrating the ups and downs of relationships and really gave all the characters satisfying conclusions (in more ways than one 😜🤭).
The healing journey isn’t linear, and this book was a realistic portrayal of loss and redemption. Highlighting the importance of communication, being vulnerable with the ones you love, and being true to oneself and one’s desires. There is a HEFTY dose of spice in this book (seriously, check your triggers if you have a low spice tolerance 🥵🌶️), but it didn’t distract from the story and it was handled well. I loved how they all showed up for one another in different ways and really FOUGHT for their relationships. If you like your romance sweet & spicy, then I think you’ll enjoy this one 💖❤️🔥.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
It was spicy. Oh so spicy. I lost count of how many scenes there were. So be prepared.
BUT..... underneath it all it was so sweet. It tackled so many heavy subjects around identity, a marriage in a rut, and mental health. It all felt so relatable on all fronts. Overall, the story had a good pace with a minor dragging out on Noah's part towards the end. Quinn was a fantastic character that despite praising Beck for being their anchor, I actually thought she was the glue who brought and held them together. Beck was awesome. No notes.
Totally recommend if you're NOT afraid of spice AND into MMF where they all share, a bit of a hockey romance, forced proximity, marriage in crisis/retreat, and a second chance romance with the husband's ex boyfriend 😱

If you think that this is about three very hot human beings being hot together, doing hot stuff… you’re halfway right.
Because while we do get many really steamy scenes between the three of them, it’s so much more than that.
We explore the disfunctional relationship between Quinn and Noah and their individual issues with anxiety, self worth and past experiences.
And Beck, who’s still head over heels for Noah, his old high school love.
Going on a couples retreat, where Noah and Quinn try to save their marriage, they meet Beck. Who already knows him very well. Together they try to fix whatever is broken, rip open some old wounds and ultimately fall for each other.
We go a little back and forth, which felt very realistic personally.
The fact that it wasn’t just a straight forward growth, but had up and downs and also some moments that drove me a bit crazy was really nice.
The spice scenes were phenomenal. Kayla you absolutely outdid yourself.
I also loved the connections to her novellas. Loved hearing about old friends.
Now I don’t know how I felt about the end of it. Like the build up was beautiful and the way we explore especially Noah’s past was done really well.
The end was a bit fast and some of the miscommunication was a bit frustrating.
But overall loved it.
And the ART?! I’m obsessed

It’s so funny when you go into a book, thinking you’ll love it and it ends up still exceeding your expectations. That was Thin Ice for me. I have loved Kayla’s books for a few years now and whenever she has a new release I get so excited. And this was no exception. An MMF romance with a plus-size FMC, yes please.
Noah, Quinn and Beck have the most amazing chemistry. I was rooting for them from the very beginning. To see a couple work so hard to rebuild their relationship was really beautiful. And the way Beck fit with them. It was like fate. I loved the intimate scenes that weren’t just about sex, but about reconnecting and really seeing the other person. Together they were able to stop hiding parts of themselves and really be who they are.
It was such an emotional ride, full of painful memories and so much hope for the future. It wasn’t an easy journey but one I loved being on with them.
This story had me crying so many times, both sad and happy tears. But that ending. Oh the happy tears were flowing hard.

Having read and enjoyed a few of Kayla Grosse’s novels before, and being a HUGE hockey romance fan, I knew I had to pick this one up. Add in the fact that I love a good polyamorous romance, and this book was ticking all the boxes before I’d even started! 🏒🔥
It took me a few chapters to really get into the story, but once I did, I was well and truly hooked. I found it hard to put down.
And that first heated scene between the three of them at the retreat? THE TENSION. I felt that. WOW. From that point on, the tension and heat just kept building, and there was definitely no shortage of spice in this one.
There was SO much I enjoyed about this book, and it had so many things I usually love in a romance. But for some reason, I just felt like something was missing for me to fully fall in love with it.
Still an enjoyable read, with plenty of heat, but I just wanted a little more to make it a five star read for me!

as expectativas iniciais não foram alcançadas. não pareceu muito que tinham 3 personagens principais, mas que era o livro do Noah com ocasionais capítulos das perspectivas dos outros dois. a Quinn sofrendo pra consertar o casamento, o Beck sofrendo pra superar o passado dos dois e meio que pareceu que tudo gravitacionava atrás do Noah e eu detesto livros de why choose assim.
as características individuais dos outros dois eram sempre mencionadas de uma forma que parecia querer lembrar o autor de que isso já tinha sido mencionado antes. assim como a relação entre a Quinn e o Beck não teve nenhum desenvolvimento real pra além da primeira interação, ANTES dos 3 estarem juntos no mesmo lugar.

Kayla never ever disappoints with her books. There is not one single book of hers that I’ve read that I did not love. I think this one was so amazing because of Quinn and Noah relationship. The fact that they were in such a tough area in their marriage emotionally and had to work through it together meant so much. It showed how hard marriages can be and how much work they take to keep the love strong. I also love that by working on their relationship, they were able to grow as individuals at the same time. Add in Beck and everything was perfect. He was the perfect balance to their relationship. He wasn’t a bandaid or some spice to add. He was the special addition needed to balance them out. But don’t get me wrong…the SPICE. The spice was out of this world. Definitely filthy and unfiltered. I ate it up.

I love me some good ole smutty smut— we all know Kayla delivers! It was a simply 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧 read for me. Start to finish. No lulls. Nothing felt like filler… it went hard & gave me everything I could want & more. (Trust me here… this is fvcking fantastic)

I cannot begin to express how phenomenal this book is. Not only did Kayla tackle the topic of common marital problems, but she also explored what it means to repair a relationship when someone believes the damage is beyond repair.
Quinn and Noah are going through a rough patch and decide to attend a couples retreat to rekindle the intimacy they've lost. When they arrive, they discover that a former flame of Noah's just happens to be their mentor.
I enjoyed every spicy, wholesome, and tender moment of this book. It checked every single box of what I expect from an MMF romance.

Dear Kayla: I found you and this book through Threads. Thanks for putting in the work with the self-promotion because I gleefully shoved all my current reads aside and ignored my library holds to read this instantly… and I ate this up. Who cares about Beck’s technical lack of ethics here? (Notmeeeee.) The plot, the tough convos they had, the palpable yearning, the spice. Just everything. THIS BOOK WAS DELICIOUS AND DECADENT AND STEAMY AND I READ IT IN ONE SITTING AND PLEASE GIMME MOOOOREEEEEE. *grabby hands* 😩🖤🙏🏼

I have been a Kayla Grosse fan for years and always love the positivity she puts into the plus size romance community. Thin Ice centres around Quinn, Noah and Beck. Quinn and Noah are married - He's a hockey star and she's the team photographer. They go on a couples intimacy retreat where they meet their intimacy coach, Beck - who turns out to be Noah's high school ex. This is a hot, banter filled book about a lovable throuple. Loved this so much.

I loved this so much!! Noah, Beck, and Quinn fit so well together, and I absolutely loved all of them! I loved their relationship, the spice was sooo good, and I loved the way everything played out. I just devoured this and loved every second!

Oh sopice you say? Take this book and make sure your batteries are charged and your schedule is clear cause damn. Kayla can write spice and she can also write SPICE. This book? SPICY. I absolutely devoured this book and this thing had even me blushing. I cannot stop recommending it if I tried cause I loved it so much. The way the all formed into this throuple situation from virtual strangers was phenomenal. This one is absolutely worth every minute of read time and I can only imagine how good that audio will be. Definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed this book! I loved how it focused on a marriage in trouble and how even when Beck joined the relationship, the focus on being better partners to each other was still the focus.
I thought it was so unique that Beck had a history with Noah, and how their past relationship ended badly so they both had to make amends and work on trusting each other again.
I thought it was so sweet how supportive Beck and Quinn were of Noah’s struggle with anxiety and depression and always tried to be there for him while encouraging him to go to therapy.
I can’t wait for the next in this series and hope to see Quinn, Beck, and Noah again!

Kayla Grosse continues to prove she is one of the best when it comes to balancing romance and the kinkiest, hottest smut in books! Thin Ice was a beautiful story of second chances, acceptance, and self discovery. Quinn, Noah, and Beck were such fun characters to explore and getting to know them was such a treat. Grosse balanced high level spice with deep, emotional moments in this story and I ate up every single second of it. I’ve been struggling recently to manitain focus when reading anything other than audiobooks, but the first night I cracked this open I stayed up well past my bedtime because it was so engaging. I could read an entire other book about these three lovable characters, and I definitely see myself coming back to enjoy this one again and again.

I had an opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book and wow - just wow!
Kayla writes about topics that so many people experience in their personal lives - the loss of connection with their partner when life takes over.
You’re probably thinking - if I’m dealing with this in my own life, why would I want to read about it? Here’s why - Kayla takes this topic and writes so tenderly about the pain one or both partners feels, shining light on the overall issues. She shows people that there is hope for these relationships if we simply take the time and effort to make changes and hear the other person.
I’ve read almost every one of Kayla’s books and this is by far her best one in my opinion. The love that we feel pouring from the characters into one another is beautiful. And dare I say that the spice is on a whole different level.
10/10 would most definitely recommend!

Second chance that involves a couple fighting for their marriage AND one of them runs into their first love. Dude. So many emotions.
It was great that Quinn and Noah were open to putting in the work to keep their marriage going it. Not in a last resort attempt, but a way to reconnect. Sometimes we get lost along the way so we need help finding each other again. Their (mostly) open communication made my heart smile.
Beck was so right to question their intentions when they decided on the groups future without talking to each other. Having them individually beg for him without talking to each other could be a sign of them looking at him at a way to escape their marriage without actually doing it. He needed to know the other two were ready to have him be a true, contributing member of their thruple. Not just a play thing for them to use while they worked out their feelings for each other.
In the end, everyone got to the finish line at the same time. It was swoony how well they learned to communicate with each other. It would have been nice to have more of the retreat be part of the story, though. How the story came off to me, these three spent most of their time in Quinn and Noah’s bungalow alone with Beck. With that much isolation, can you really be sure of your feelings before busting your delulu bubble of filth?

This book felt more on the serious side than previous trio books. It revolved around Quinn and Noah's stay at the reteat, the exercises they went through to improve communication and presence with one another. Reigniting the passion and love they once had.
Beck was a great mentor and helped them find themselves again, so they could see each other how they used to. Being a part of Noah's history gave him an advantage when it came to knowing how to approach certain issues. He was both the calming breath when a panic attack started and the bull when needing the challenge to push through.
While it's technically a new series, there are characters, mentions and easter eggs from previous books, Trick Shot and Puck Shy. Read these first if you're OCD like me and like to know the back story and references.
This was an enjoyable read overall, with sexy times and growth between the group. Unfortunately, it just fell a little flat at times. I don't know if I was just in a bit of a reading slump or wasn't feeling it at the time, but I just didn’t connect or get engrossed the way I usually am. 90% of the book is held at the retreat, working through exercises and classes for the marriage. Once they return home, it takes Noah a hell of a long time to 'come to terms' with everything; leaving Beck on the outside for months between the occasional catch up.

Thin Ice kicks off Kayla Grosse's new hockey series, I couldn't put it down and I don't think you will either. Let's get into it.
Here's where the story starts: Noah is in a severe depressive episode post hockey season that he can't shake, and realizes how bad it is when he takes it out on his wife, Quinn—this is her breaking point. Quinn has been lost in their marriage for years, and to save it, they sign up for an intimacy retreat, and their coach is Noah's secret ex from high school and former hockey player, Beck. Then chaos ensues.
The chemistry between Quinn and Beck sparks right away, and glimpses of who Noah and Beck used to be together come to the surface pulled me right into their story. As Quinn and Noah took their relationship down to the studs to rebuild and connect with the guidance of Beck, I felt the questions, exercises, and their fears resonate with me because who hasn't felt inadequate in themselves or their relationship? Who hasn't felt so disconnected from the joy we could feel from life but don't because your expectations don't match, or what you've wanted has changed and you have no idea how to deal with it? You want to make a connection or take a leap of faith, but you know dealing with the potential fallout could break you? It could just be me, but those questions have stayed with me since reading this. Beck's exercises and the entire retreat felt very much like therapy I didn't know I needed. Anyway...
Our trio balances the heavy and light and the unknown with joy, a second chance, and yes some guided (and unguided) spicy fun. BUTTTT the spicy times were all about intimacy as the foundation and place to grow from. If you're reading this and are now scared, the emotional hangover incurred from Thin Ice is worth every reflective second because the payoff is incredible. By the time Noah and Quinn leave the retreat a week later, there is hope for their marriage and the budding relationship between the three of them. They take leaps of faith; they don't dismiss the bad days or hard conversations, and when it's time for Noah to come out, he does so in a way that brought both me and Beck to tears.
All in all: 4.5 stars, 3.5 peppers, and a deep yearning for what comes next.
