Thin Ice is book one in the Triple Shot Series by Kayla Grosse. I found it to be an exploration of love, not just romantic, but for yourself as well. Love is not static, not perfect, relationships evolve and can you invest into this growth. This loveable trio, Quinn, Noah and Beck go through the gambit of emotions and deal with personal mental health, how they want to be perceived by the public and being honest with what they truly want. Only then will things come together.
This was a fast paced book but the character arcs developed naturally. You could understand how their connections unfolded.
These characters are stripped of their normal shields and through a safe space, the intimacy retreat, they are able to be guided through their anxieties, fears, emotional wounds long open and the one guiding them can't help being brought in.
If you love high-heat, kink-friendly, and body-positive romance, then Thin Ice is your book. 🏒🔥🖤

THIN ICE is one of Kayla's most emotionally raw and vulnerable works yet. Not necessarily in a tear-jerker sorta way, but in how exposed Quinn, Noah, and Beck's fears, anxieties, and hearts are to each other and the reader. We read them at their lowest, lashing out in frustration, irrational in their desperation to be seen or heard. It's so affirming actually to see lovable characters be imperfect. To know that from their most desperate times there is still hope. That love endures even when we're sad, or lost, or weak. That boundaries and promises and compromises are all signs of love. Love doesn't expect perfection; it expects effort, investment, and attention. I know this is getting very vibey, but THIN ICE was a very emotional read for me.

I highly recommend THIN ICE for the high heat, body loving, kink positive smut, and the visceral journey of healing lost and broken hearts. Quinn, Noah, and Beck are amongst the best characters Kayla has written.

I really enjoyed Quinn finding herself, and how she took everything completely in stride - if I was in her shoes especially during the first couple of days at that retreat I would have broke down and criedddd! However something was awoken in her, and she ran with it!

Noah and Beck had so much history, it was really easy to root for Beck to be a part of the Ashcrofts!

Spice was scorching as always with a Kayla book!

I also liked that it showcased hard hitting marriage issues - like just not seeing your partner anymore because life becomes routine and boring and your comfortable but this book really explores being pushed outside of your comrfort zone and opening up your mind and heart!

I also LOVE, Beck calling Quinn pretty girl 🥹

I devoured this book in 48 hours! There are no words other than “I need to go touch some grass”

The story line, the characters growth and development, and spice are next level.

If you are looking for high spice and a book that will make you cry happy tears more than once you found it! I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I thought Axe Marks the Spot was my favorite Kayla Grosse book but Thin Ice may have replaced its winning title!!!

I can’t get enough, I was staying past my bedtime devouring this book! Everything Kayla writes she writes to perfection and this one is no different!

The way these tropes are written are so perfect there’s not a single thing I feel like I’m missing, making this her most emotional and raw and real book yet to date in all the best ways. Then the appearances from her other books in the book got me all giddy.

If you like spice with raw real emotions of life and sports romance this is the one for you😳😏

This might be my favorite work of Kayla’s. It was emotional, fun, spicy and nerve wracking. I loved each character individually and the triad together. Also the side characters had me cracking up and falling in love. I can’t wait to read more books in this series. Absolutely will be recommending to all of my friends.
