The McKinleys #2

Forever My Love

Rate this book

FOREVER MY LOVE is book 2 in the Christian romance series The McKinleys by bestselling author, Kimberly Rae Jordan. Follow the stories of Eric, Brooke, Alicia and Victoria as their present lives are impacted by decisions and events in their past. This heartwarming series of love, faith and family is sure to inspire and move you.

Brooke McKinley has room in her life for only one guy. Her ten-year old son, Danny. From her own father’s betrayal to Danny’s father refusal to take responsibility for his son, Brooke has learned to not rely on anyone—particularly a man—for her wellbeing or happiness. But when Danny’s uncle shows up on her doorstep with the news that Danny is the heir to his now-deceased father’s fortune, Brooke finds her control over her and Danny’s life slipping away.

Lucas Hamilton isn’t surprised his brother never acknowledged his son. A child didn’t fit into the lifestyle he’d chosen. But now that Lucas knows about Danny, he plans to take care of him like his brother should have. What he hadn’t foreseen was the boy’s mother making it clear they didn’t want—or need—his help. Over the years, Lucas has gotten used to living in the shadow of his larger-than-life, adventurous twin brother, but now he finds himself wanting to step out of that shadow to show Brooke that she can count on him.

Determined not to let Lucas have the chance to prove her theory on men correct, Brooke resists the temptation to rely on him for anything. However when she finds more than her theory at risk, will Brooke realize that a change of heart may bring her more than just peace? Will Lucas be able to convince her that sharing responsibility doesn’t mean giving up control? And that she can trust him—not just with Danny but with her heart as well?

Once again Kimberly Rae Jordan offers a clean Christian oriented romance as a stand-alone story. However, after reading eleven offerings by this author, I recommend reading her works in date of publication sequence for greatest enjoyment. Like all of her other books, this offering reveals real people in real-life situations that are believable and relatable. Character development was well done, and some surprising plot twists kept me involved, although I was disappointed that the author did not reveal what Luke found on his brother’s computer that prompted Luke to question his brother’s disappearance. At times the story became a bit too predictable and a little slow for my taste. Then, when I factor in annoying grammatical errors, dropped words, typos, and other editing errors, there is no way I can agree with many reviewers who gave this work four or five stars. One of the significant lessons told in this story was that choices have consequences. The author’s decision to publish a work with all these deficiencies can only result in an otherwise five-star offering just earning three stars from me.

Another reason I love these books is in each series you learn about a different family member while still keeping up with the previous one. Love!

Victoria and Trent a christian story that mends your heart and your family at the same time

Victoria is one of those McKinley,s . The ones you see in church and wonder about? The ones that seem to be close but still seem to hold back like a burr is there somewhere. But you better not say anything about one of them because thats when you find they are a family that comes together in trouble and Trent is a family friend wanting to be more but is scared of the family. Join me in reading about this beautiful family and its hardships and how they come through them. You will never regret it never.

For any married man with children out there who thinks that your "one night stand" won't have tragic consequences on your family, I present to you: Brooke McKinley.

To say she's bitter toward her family and God over what her dad did to them may be too nice. Hostile is more like it. Sadly the "ex-vangelical" -- the person who's abandoned their faith because of what they've seen in others -- is all too much the rage. And Brooke definitely fits that mold.

Lucas Hamilton finds himself in the middle of turmoil, and his problem-solving nature doesn't always keep everyone happy. Did Lucas possibly cross a line by buying Brooke's last three paintings? You could argue it. But he saw that she was financially in dire straits, yet was far too fiercely independent to take charity, so he took the action he saw best. If nothing else it kept him from incurring the wrath of his man-hating sister Lindsay. And Lucas sees that the Brooke of today could easily be the Lindsay of the future (think the Ghosts of Christmas Present showing Scrooge what becomes of Tiny Tim, unless something changes). Throw in his own growing personal feelings toward Brooke -- and Danny seeing him as the father he needs, since teenage years are not that far away -- and you really feel sorry for him at times.

The plot twist of Lincoln's sudden reappearance added a dramatic effect. It also gave Lindsay an opportunity to give Lucas a message that she would never verbalize: "I already have two men in my life I hate [her dad and Lincoln]. Show me someone different: be the man for Brooke, that I want a man to be for me." Because Brooke and Lindsay are the type, that whoever really cares for them, they will walk through Hell itself to protect them, but if not they will drag them through Hell.

I would like to see a future cross-over with Brooke and the King family: what if one of her future art students, was the incredibly creative Isla?

Forever My Love is a great sequel to the first book in the series This Time with Love.
I loved the story between Brooke and Lucas. Complicated, very, but also very romantic.
Danny's personality was cute to read about along with his adorable friendship with Sarah his cousin.
I will probably read this again sometime.

Brooke found a man she could trust

I like that Luc broke down the walls and finally found something worth fighting for. It was an extremely tender moment when Lucas and Brooke were down at the dock and Luc realized that he had caused Brooke pain. Brooke's mother had what goes beyond forgiveness.

I enjoyed this one even better than the first. I don't give spoilers away, but what a great plot...absentee father suddenly dies and his family finds out he had a 10 year old son, the dead guy's twin brother falls for the mom, and then.......

I admit, I kind of saw it coming, but it was a great book and ended very well

Very frustrating book. This story went in circles throughout and only made headway toward the end. I had some difficulty keep track of all the characters. The two romantic leads just seemed to be on an endless cycle with no end in sight. Even so I enjoyed the series as a whole

Nice read

It was enjoyable to read about Brooke and Lucas, but not as emotional as the previous books in this series. This one also had a lot more annoying grammatical errors that could easily have been found and fixed with a grammarly check.

I did not give rave reviews to the first book in this series, but this one I am. Loved the characters, loved the story. The characters grow on you with each book, ready to read the next one.

This is my favorite of the series thus far. Brooke and Danny's relationship was precious. Her struggle to forgive and trust men was overcome by the love of God.

This was at first thought a typical romance novel. Uh uh! Nope! May end that way but in between anything but typical. A very good read.

This book was a good book to read. They found each other again. The problems they had to over come
were hard for them, but they had the Lords help.

Brooke has issues with relationships, starting with her father but nothing is more important to her than her son.

This story was really interesting. Brooke was raising her son without a father and doing a good job of it. When she opens her door to Lucas she thinks it's her son's father but only for a moment. Lucas and his mom and sister did not know anything about Danny until the information was found in Lincoln's file. Lincoln had never acknowledged his son, and now he was dead. Lucas was there to meet his brothers son and let Brooke know that they were named in Lincoln's will. What Lucas did not plan on was being attracted to Brooke. Brooke had lots of issues and not interested in men but she was willing to let Danny meet Lucas' mom and sister. She was overwhelmed with their wealth and had no idea that Lincoln was so wealthy. The story gets interesting when Lincoln is found alive but with no memory of who he is. This complicates things for Lucas who is becoming very interested in Brooke.

The McKinleys The whole series

Wonderful reading. I love when a writer isn't afraid to use God as the one that helps us in any situation. Here we learn how a young girls life is turned upside down, but God was always ready to heal her heart. It also shows how the love of money has consequences if you use your wealth wrong. One of the best things it teaches in this series is that Gods people are not immune to falling into sin. These books are great for everyone.

Totally loved this story. Really enjoyed book 1. Book 2 is my favorite. The story line was outstanding. The characters and their lives are so realistic. This book is full of love, romance and a lot of heart ache. But all is well that ends well. The author did an excellent job dragging me into the emotions of not only the main characters, but the secondary characters as well. Looking forward to reading book 3 but pretty sure 2 will still be my favorite!! :)

Brooke's story was great to be a part of. Kimberly Rae Jordan has done another exemplary job of bringing these characters to life for our enjoyment. Such a great story of love, redemption, forgiveness, and second chances. There is also a great twist. Excited to read more in this series and this is another example of what a great writer is!

Brooke and Danny's story is truly amazing. When Lucas showed up at her home everything changed. Watching Lucas take care of these two is wonderful. You can feel God working throughout this whole book. The author will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. This book deserves a higher rating than a 5 star.

Sooo good!

I loved the characters in this book. I loved seeing little glimpses of characters from her last book revisited in this one. I loved the long road to forgiveness that Brooke found herself on and how it applies to so many of us. I can't wait for Victoria's story.
