The Authority has been driven off, but Drake and Yukiko still have a lot of problems in search of solutions. And then there is the deepening mystery of Those Who Came Before. Evidence is starting to suggest that they are not what everyone here thought. They are likely not the ones who built the alien travel network that brought them here and trapped them.
A half-seen form that vanishes when you look.
As Drake and Yukiko work to stymie their enemies and make a home away from home for humanity, they have to wrestle with new questions. Worse, it seems as if the long departed aliens might not be so departed as everyone believes. Do they have an agenda? If so, can they be reasoned with before they make everything much, much worse?
Expansion beyond Atlantis continues as they work to find allies
Drake and Yukiko work on finding allies to repel Kirkos' animosity towards them. This is aided by the bloody escape of Kirk from the neighboring city's jail and their vow to bring him back. In addition, the search beneath the city of the areas of Those Who Came Before reveals a number of surprises. Another enemy is revealed... There is political posturing, intrigue, suspense, ambushes, break-ins, twists and turns, archeology, revelations, mercenaries, the Navy, Marines and potential alliances as Drake attempts to bring down the warring factions. An entertain read leaving you to wonder what comes next...
More characters, development, and areas of excitement. Several new plot lines are in development. The story is satisfyingly new with many different directions to be explored. I can't wait...it's a great read.
Robinson Caruso Meets Swiss. Family Robinson Sort Of
It's an okay read. To be honest these four books could have been published in one or two maybe. But, I am still looking forward to solving the mystery of Those Who Came Before.
Much worse than the previous books. The first two thirds were just logistics and very boring. I struggled to finish, not sure I will read the next book.
