Chichuba is given a second chance to prove her Kayden abilities after healing from the Spoka Village attack that she can’t remember. Once she is certified as a legitimate Kayden, a new threat that was once dormant begins to swell as rival tribes begin to encroach on the Hatchki and war begins to erupt within the human race while the Kayden still do their best to keep the Rancorous at bay. Chichuba’s world is expanded as she deploys to another tribe’s territory at Huhkhan’s side with some of her brothers, and learns about the different cultures of the other human species. Her military career truly begins, and she’s forced to learn how to balance the toll that the aftermath of battle takes. Riddles begin to unravel, and Huhkhan is faced with his biggest fear coming true when Chichuba is taken from him. While fighting wars with the human tribes, he and the clan scramble to get her back and fall onto a trail of her past, revealing disturbing revelations of what her life was like before she became Huhkhan’s. As the men close in on getting her back, they’re thrown into some of the darkest parts of their world, but don’t hesitate to walk through hellfire to save Chichuba.
Once again, we’re reintroduced to the Hatchki Tribe, a group of human-monster warriors who are determined to protect their species from both rival human tribes and The Rancorous, monsters of hell.
This series combines elements of gore and violence, and morally complex characters. If you’re a fan of monster horror with a touch of fantasy, dark and compelling characters, and a strong female protagonist, this series is definitely worth exploring.
Rafaela Ribio never misses with the action. When I tell you I really feel part of the characters world and can see everything, I am not exaggerating. The more I read, the more engaged I was. Just like in book 1 the world is built exquisitely. Especially now that we enter into a new tribe territory. I have no complaints. Everything in this story comes together so well and honestly let me just say I was so not ready for the ending. Very unexpected. Chichuba continues to show her fierceness, courage, and resilience and I love that for her. The chaos and gore is of course still there so please proceed with caution. This book was worth losing sleep, been reading since 3am just to finish it all in one day.Looking for your next action romantasy fill. Pick up this book. Make sure to read Book 1 Hatchki Supernal and then head to this one.

Let me just start by saying OMG book 2 is even more amazing than the first one. I love the Dynamics no me I'm set for the love triangle that's just my thing. But I love how the author did the characters in this one like it was bigger and greater and the suspense was just all over the place. I do love the gore, all that good stuff that this book offers. I am so glad Chichuba finally got a second chance to prove her Kayden abilities, and she finally got certified well approved whatever you want to call it. Then things go into a tailspin stuff goes sideways ancient things come back to try to cause havoc. Overall I am so glad I got the honor to read these two books and I'm so excited to see where this goes if there's a third. The author has outdone herself so much. She now has a forever reader.
Forever grateful to have been on this journey from Book 1 to Book 2 as an ARC reader for the amazing @hatchkibookseries 🖤 This series truly stands apart from anything else I’ve been reading, Attack on Titan vibes with elements of The 100 (iykyk). There’s nonstop action, plenty of spice, and an FMC who absolutely holds her own.
And the MMCs… listen. I’m unwell. Huhkhan the Horrid is endgame, period 🥵 Enough said.
Chechuba has her “girlllll 😒” moments, but her being a badass warrior/healer makes it better, and it feels like we’re only scratching the surface of what she’s capable of.
If you like dystopian, anime, warriors, monsters & a heaping spoonful of spice, then this is the series for you! Such a fun ride. Can’t wait to share more ⚔️
I just finished Rafaela Ribio’s second book in the Hatchki Series, Opertus and I am on the edge! What an absolutely thrilling read!!
Rafaela is an author with true gift for writing action series and every page of this story just got more and more exciting. All our favorites from book one are still here and we get even more up close and personal with them. While this series focuses on about 5 main characters it’s really an all encompassing story. We’re just building and building more it as we read along. There’s so much action! And as I said in book one, this author can write fight scenes! She has a knack to getting her readers fully emerged and it’s so easy to picture myself right alongside the warriors! I absolutely loved it!!! So many heart wrenching and heart stopping moments!
I’m not giving much of the storyline away I know….but I was surprised as I read and you should be too! Please note that this series is best enjoyed in order, so you don’t miss a thing.
Well, I’m off to stare into space for a couple days to digest this read…and that ending!!!!
This is the second ARC I have read in this series. This series reminds me of Japanese anime in book form. The story and characters are unique. The battle and fight choreography are well written.
