An inspirational source of encouragement for Lent.
‘The Little Book of Lent’ is a powerful anthology of readings from spiritual writers for each day of Lent, with accompanying scripture and prayers to help guide daily reflections.
With extracts from a range of inspirational writers and theologians, including Desmond Tutu, Sheila Cassidy and Rowan Williams, ’The Little Book of Lent’ guides you to deepen your prayer life in anticipation of Easter.
This book can be read on your own or with others, used either for self-reflection or to spark discussion and share insights on God’s truths. This edition would be perfect on which to base a Lent course or to use as a talking point for home groups.
Whether or not you choose to read the extracts multiple times or once straight through, Howells’ latest work will lead you to new heights in your Christian journey and personal walk with God. It is the ideal gift for friends, family or anyone else preparing themselves for the sacrifices of Lent.
This little book is the best collection of essays designed to be read daily during Lent. The authors come from a nice variety of traditions and the essays offer lots for everyone to think about.
The collection of stories and scripture held within this book capture the beauty and depth of this liturgical season. Throughout this book, I found myself returning to the pages, focused upon what God wanted to tell me through writers and seekers of old and new. Great book for the busy minded to help reflect and celebrate the Risen Christ
A really solid book of devotionals from lots of different great Christian writers. It really helped me to feel a new commitment to prayer and to the simple parts of spiritual disciplines. It acts perfectly as a way to journey through lent. I would recommend this book for everyone and might read it again this time next year.
Many others talking in very different styles so there's something for everyone. Used this Lent with a group of 12, all differet ages and backgrounds and they all found something to love. Well worth buying.
A short reflection, followed by a Scripture reading, and a prayer. Just the right length for a daily reading in Lent. Arthur Howells is a retired Anglican priest, and most of the reflections are extracts from works by Anglican authors.
