Tom Savage is intent on homesteading, and Phaethon is the newest planet open for colonization. Here, technology is lacking in many places. And for 200 credits, anyone can claim one square kilometer of prime farmland.
But Tom has a secret or two. He is not interested in farming crops, at least not at first. Tom wants to harvest pieces of Phaethon’s sun.
To do so will mean first reaching his stake out near the desert, surviving human predators along the way, bringing fugitives to justice, and dealing with the resident sand dragon population.

*** Review of "TOM SAVAGE - Book 1" *** Prepare for a New Adventure !! . . .
Jaxon Reed is back with his phenomenal writing style that pulls the reader into the heart of the action to become part of the story. I have always admired the realistic feel of the world he deftly builds around us, and this particular story has a “Wild West” feel. He brings his heroic characters to life so that the reader cares about what happens and responds accordingly. In this new series, Tom Savage arrives on Phaethon, the newly offered planet open to farmers for homesteading. But he has something else in mind if he can get to the area he wants to claim out in the desert without being killed by the bad guys or hostile creatures like the sand dragons or the giant nighttime owls. Prepare yourself for pulse-pounding fast action ahead as this amazing author takes us on another exciting journey in the fight for survival. And he NEVER disappoints!
Star Farmer is a mixture of old Western and science fiction novels. Star Farmer reminds me of a John Wayne movie and TV shows like Earth 2. I loved reading about Tom and his way of life.
The battles that seemed to follow Tom wherever he went kept me glued to the pages waiting for another one as soon as one was done. The action just kept on coming page after page.
I love the world-building and the amazing characters, especially Tom, who carries a special place in my heart. I love everything about the Star Farmer series. I love the place or planet that was created for Tom’s world. I love the spaceship scenes, especially all the battles they seem to find their selves in. I can see them all play out in my head. What an awesome world! I can’t get enough of it and never want it to end.
I see Tom as a cartoon character sometimes. But either way, I always see him with a smile on his face. For some reason, I see a smile on his face even when he happens to be in a fight. I don’t know why.
I adore the bots and their ability to fight and construct buildings. I enjoy all the characters and their roles in the story. Additionally, I have a special fondness for Tom Savage, Gwen, Ash, Night Shadow, Lisa, and many more.
Star Farmer held me spellbound, maintaining my interest throughout all the conflicts and their strategies. What a fantastic series; I just can’t get enough of it. Star Farmer will linger in my mind for many days after I’ve read the final word.
I wholeheartedly recommend Star Farmer to all enthusiasts of science fiction! Grab your copy of the Star Farmer series today and embark on an unforgettable journey!
This is a really good series. The characters are varied and interesting. Some are more likable than others. It certainly did have an old west vibe to it. I really liked that I could read the set all the way thru. I did not expect the last few pages to contain any surprises. But an interesting set up for the next series.
Jaxon Reed’s storytelling pulls me into his stories. Star Farmer is just fun. I love the youthful exuberance of Tom and Gwen, tempered by their upbringing and good genes, while acting like they have been married forever. The setting of a frontier planet cut off from major star-spanning governments makes the setting feel like a classic TV western series set in the stars as Gene Roddenberry intended Star Trek to be. Plenty of action, creative solutions to problems, enthusiastic tactics in small unit battles. Action, community, conflict and resolution, believable science abound. Get this series and enjoy! And, if you haven’t already go back and catch up on the other stories in this universe!!!
This is an excellent series for fans of Heinlein's juvenile books. We have the son of illustrious parents out to make something of himself on a new colony planet, and in the process of securing his rights, he sets in motion many little steps which result in the establishment of a stable and soon-to-be prosperous polity. The author definitely has a knack combining the best of Robert Heinlein, Max Brand, Louis L'Amour and David Drake to give us an engrossing colonization epic. I like this new saga, which is easily as good as (and as messy as) this author's several previous series.
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Tom Savage decides he wants to test out some family gadgets and off he goes to an unaligned frontier planet to become a homesteader. This is the complete series of what happens while he is on Phaethon. Lots of drama, trouble, enemies to defeat, and friends to discover. For a new planet there is a lot of things going on and trouble to be found. I laughed through most of the series and found it a light and easy read. But with lots of one liners and a few battles to be fought and won. So many hilarious scenes to enjoy. Totally worth the read. Enjoyed each story and all the characters.
Excellent series, I did read all 12 books and they are quite fun EXCEPT for all the Ayn Rand libertarian politics. OMG the later books were all about how great libertarian governments are and how bad socialism is. It was so nice that Tom had unlimited resources and was quite ethical because we all know that filthy rich people are the best with their moral compasses all pointed in the direction of what is best for the people and not just for themselves, share holders, and bottom lines.
At the end of this series, they tied up all the loose ends, but one. Malcolm's vote at the end, won it for the Alliance. It would have been nice to acknowledge him, with a little party.
