Deep within the fortress of Pandora, Lieutenant Vane Schiva has spent millennium guarding precious artifacts and ancient secrets from around the universe. As the son of a decorated commander, he has always been a soldier first, putting the needs of his people before his own desires. So when the compound is breached and he’s sent across the galaxies to track down the thief, he never imagined the assignment would lead him to the only thing he’s ever wanted for himself.
Growing up in New Orleans, Charlotte Rousseau has seen her share of the strange and unexplainable, but everything she thought she knew about the world is about to be tested. What started as any other day, quickly spirals into a nightmarish reality, leaving her no choice but to place her trust—and her life—in a stranger’s hands. Safety comes at a price, though, and Charlotte soon realizes her only chance at survival means leaving behind her fears and following Vane into the fire.
Faced with the threat of war, new alliances are formed and old loyalties are tested in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. While emotions run high and sexual tensions simmer, Vane still guards a dangerous secret, one that could cost him everything in the end. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect Charlotte, though, even if that means turning his back on his own people.
Born with a silver tongue and a pen in her hand, Kali spends her days crafting scandalous romances filled with flawed heroes and kick-ass heroines. When she's not writing, she can be found curled up in her favorite chair with a good book and a steamy cup of coffee.
Self-proclaimed introvert and supporter of the selectively social, Kali currently resides in North Texas with her insane family, including two lazy dogs and one tragically misunderstood cat.
I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but this wasn't it. However, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
I did enjoy it. I never found myself wanting to chuck the book across the room or skimming. However, I didn't find myself itching to read it. (Like normally I would have devoured it over the weekend while I was down at my inlaws. Instead, I found myself watching a movie instead)
I didn't dislike Charli. I liked Vane, though there were times I wanted to smack him.
However, I did think that they were a bit stupid by 'needing to protect her', but then staying in her shop, in plain sight of the shop windows, pretty much at all times. So was it any surprise that the Morph saw them? No.
I also found it a little jarring having so many familiar sayings, and Earth foods talked about, which is funny since she had said she didn't know over half the ingredients used during a cooking show she was watching... however, Turkey was a thing. Not just 'something that looked and smelled like the familiar Turkey, but a Turkey.' At least the quail was called something else.
Otherwise, it was good... and I would read the next in the series. (I don't even know if there is one, but I would read it.)
Pandora series starts off with Timeless by author Kali Argent. I really like Ms. Argent’s style. She brings intense characters that make me want more of them. I especially loved Charlotte. She is brave, strong, and her attitude about everything was such a refreshing change from the typical female heroine. She really deserves the mate she will get. Vane is selfless and completely protective alpha type. I liked his heart and soul he has such character that I really loved him. I like how Ms. Argent sprinkles in humor, fun, and romance to make a storyline I want more of. There is a lot of story in this book, which I love. Yes there is hot sex but the story itself is what kept me going and wanting more. I really hope there is a second book in this series, I know I will be stalking waiting and breathlessly awaiting its arrival. Over all this is action packed and has vibrant well written characters I could not get enough of. I think if you want a sci fi romance you can sink into and get lost in this is the book to pick up.
I'm currently on a romantic sci-fi kick, and this one was really sweet. Second book I've read by this author and I'm becoming a big fan of hers.
Loved both Vane and Charli, and all the other secondary characters. I hope Xee and the other guys (even Torren), get their own books!
Charli was sweet and funny. I loved her babbling and her easy going nature. Vane was big, strong, sweet and protective. No asshole behaviour or jerkiness - just perfect!
Can't wait for more from Kali Argent!
By the way -YAY - I'm the first one to write a review!!!!
