Sometimes the roughest roads in life lead to the most beautiful places. But to get there, one needs faith to let go.
Charlee Jensen walked herself straight into heartbreak. Now she is left questioning her ability to make good choices—especially since she’s not only not married to Mason, the man she’d planned her forever with, but she’s also the joint owner of the Creek View Inn—a run-down hotel in Luna, Montana that needs way more work than she’d anticipated. The best part of that disaster? Her partner in this misadventure is the very same man who broke her heart.
Yeah. In two short years, Charlee had made a real mess of her life. Now she’s back in Luna—the small, picturesque mountain town she grew up in, failure and shame her new companions. Somehow, she needs figure out how to make the Creek View Inn something that doesn’t summon Bates Hotel vibes—and to pay off the debt to her ex.
Noah Newellen’s life plans were hijacked the moment his fiancée returned the diamond he’d given her. But that wasn’t the worst day ever. Nope, not by a longshot. The absolute worst was a beautiful fall evening in Montana when he watched her marry another man—and he has the viral video to memorialize it. A video in which he’s giving a drunken, spiteful, country-song-inspired toast to the bride. Thanks to that drunken folly, and social media, he can never go back home.
Starting over in Luna, Montana isn’t logical. But as one door opens to another, Noah finds it might be exactly the grace he needs. A quiet, small town. An opportunity to pursue an old passion. Gracious, friendly people who help him to hold onto the goodness of God.
And a woman named Charlee, whose friendship sooths the wounds in his heart and inspires him to believe in second chances.
A tender story of love after heartbreak, hope beyond failure—and grace that doesn’t quit.
Come back to the majestic beauty of Elk Canyon Lake, a remote and breathtaking wonder hidden in the stunning Montana Mountains. There you'll find unexpected romance, page-turning adventures, and soul-stirring redemption.
Jennifer Rodewald is passionate about the Word of God and the powerful vehicle of story. Four kids and her own personal superman make her home in southwestern Nebraska delightfully chaotic.
Born in Colorado, she experienced both the seclusion of rugged mountain living and the busy streets of a Denver suburb during her growing up years. Somewhere in the middle of college, she married a Husker and found her way back to the quiet lifestyle of a rural area, which suits just fine.
Blessed with a robust curiosity, Jen loves to research. Whether she’s investigating the history of a given area, the biography of a Christian icon, or how nature declares the glory of God, her daily goal is to learn something new. Aiming to live with boundless enthusiasm, her creed is vision, pursuit, and excellence.
Jen lives and writes in a lovely speck of a town where she watches with amazement while her children grow up way too fast, gardens, and marvels at God’s mighty hand in everyday life.
This was a good Christian contemporary romance. This is book 6 in a unique saga series that has multiple couples getting their HEAs with slow burns, faith, and romance up in small town Montana.
This romance has a lot of redemption in it with our MC Noah debuting as he gets drunk at his ex’s wedding. Our FMC Charlee is the ex of the man Noah’s ex married. And she went into business with him before they broke up. He holds the loan to the fixer upper Inn renovation project she has. Both of our MCs have guilt and shame they need to work through. I felt like things were slowing down around 30% but the last half really picked up again. This book (and series) is full of gorgeous scenery, friends, family, found family, redemption, love, and more. It’s a sweet and unique experience to sink into. The romance is just kisses, intimacy level 1.

I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
"Noah stepped back and took in the room again. A shaft of light spilled in from the window and gathered in a white-gold puddle on the new plank flooring. For some reason it made him think of splashing in rain puddles after a storm. He inhaled, finding a fresh smell of the world washed clean and the laughter of his boyhood self on the edge of his imagination. The old is gone. Noah sucked in a hard breath and curled his fingers, like he was gripping a sledgehammer. Storms. Cleansing. Demolition. Renewal. His core trembled, but warmth continued to trickle through the cracks."
Perhaps attending his former fiancee's wedding was not the best choice for Noah. But he knows he is at least partly to blame for his own self-destruction. For Charlee, continuing on with her to plan to restore her uncle's run down motel seemed like a good plan even though her main backer is her ex-boyfriend. Noah and Charlee may both feel like they can't get past their mistakes. But can they come to realize that God hasn't forgotten about them? Perhaps He has had a better plan all along.
The themes in this book include forgiveness of others and not being weighed down by personal missteps. Side characters add additional depth. Faith is an important element. The romance is sweet but understated in the best way. I truly enjoyed this book!
The main characters in this sixth book in the Redemption Shores series are new ones. At first, I wasn't sure if I would like "meeting new people." But Noah and Charlee are wonderful and fit perfectly with the previous cast of characters. While one could almost read this book as a standalone, I recommend reading the first five books first. I really enjoyed this series. Reading them back to back cemented the characters for me.
I did read an advanced copy of this book on a launch team. I requested to read and review it. All opinions are my own.
It was so easy to get lost in this story and with these characters. Their stories were so relatable. Noah is so relatable- anyone who has forgotten themselves in heartache and had to live with their mistakes will find themselves endeared to him. And anyone who feels like they have fallen far past the point of grace will be encouraged with Charlee's journey. Seeing their sweet story unfold with forgiveness, hope and redemption left me blissfully happy...but also eager for the next book to see what is in store for Gemma!
This book pulls at all the emotions… grief, hope, betrayal, love, self worth, etc. I love the trauma bonding that creates such a beautiful relationship. I love the interlaced analogies in this book and the rest of the books in the series. This series is so captivating. There is something beautiful about the couples and community in Luna that is so compelling
I loved this book! It has both spiritual journey and romance, which is what I'm always looking for in Christian romance. The story was well-written, and definitely a page-turner. :) I'm excited for whatever the author writes next!
I received an ebook ahead of publication date, and this is my honest review of it.
This is a clean, Christian romance. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone.
Noah is invited to a wedding of his ex-fiancé. He gets drunk and makes a mess of himself. His speech goes viral on social media. He is taken to a local motel to sleep it off. The owner of the motel, Charlee, was also a guest at the wedding. It was her ex-boyfriend that married Noah’s ex-fiancé. As he stays in town, he is struggling with his faith, and embarrassed. Charlee is trying to fix up the motel, but is also struggling with their faith. Can they grow strong in their faith? Will their shared sorrows become a friendship?
This was a great story to see how these characters interact and how faith is a big part of their lives. Both Noah and Charlee struggle with their faith after some bad decisions. This story is about redemption and how faith is not always linear. It is different for everyone and we can come to faith and forgiveness after failing. Sometimes we have to go through those things to find God again. This is a great story and I didn’t want to put it down. A must read.
It was suggested that I read books 1-5 to see how the supporting characters in this story mattered and what their stories were. I would say that for books 1-5, they do build on each other and seem to have cliffhangers. But, they were amazing!! I had not read Jennifer’s books before, but plan to buy and read other stories of hers.
I received an ARC from the author and am leaving an honest review.
Being invited to watch the woman he loved marrying someone else was bad enough, but when a drunk, bitter toast to the couple goes viral, Noah decides that quiet Luna might be a good place to stay for a while, to keep out of the limelight. The discovery that the woman who runs the inn he's staying at is in a similar position towards the groom leads to connection, and soon he's helping her renovate the inn that's turned out to be more of a issue than she'd imagined. But though Luna might be a good place to start fresh, it doesn't solve problems. Can Noah and Charlee overcome the secrets and difficulties between and around them and make a new start together?
Another delightful visit to Luna, with the pleasure of both reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. In the first category I particularly appreciated getting to know Gemma better, while Noah and Charlee were great introductions - despite Noah's unfortunate introduction! This was at least one of my favourite in the series, maybe because it's a bit less angsty than some? While the romance is the star of the show, I loved the restoration of Noah's relationship with his dad, and of course the ongoing saga-style meant developments in other characters' stories too - here, particularly Gemma. You probably could read this as a standalone story, but lots of characters follow on from previous books and their backstories are largely assumed, so it's really best read as part of the series. All in all, a great read - recommended.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Lake Shore Renewal is book 6 in Jennifer Rodewald’s saga Redemption Shores. After the first several books, I’ve given up trying to predict where this series is going. And that is not a bad thing! Sometimes you just want to enjoy the journey and forget the GPS.
This book introduces new characters Charlee and Noah. Charlee and Noah find themselves in a very awkward situation, having been invited to their Exes’ wedding. The breakups weren’t what Noah and Charlee would call amicable. So why did they go? And why did the bride and groom invite them? Some answers you will just have to read for yourselves.
Lake Shore Renewal was an easy book to get lost in. Charlee and Noah are likable characters that made some poor choices in love. They struggle with heartbreak, bitterness, and embarrassment because they know they compromised themselves for the sake of each relationship. But they each find they don't have to take up permanent residence in the bad feelings.
"Like spring, new beginnings could take you by surprise. One moment you were trudging through the snow of winter, and the next you were wondering at the emerging life." Jennifer Rodewald, Lake Shore Renewal.
I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion, freely given.
This might be my favourite book so far in Jennifer Rodewald’s engrossing Redemption Shores series with its relatable characters, complicated relationships and unpredictable twists and turns.
I was rooting for Noah Newellen right from the cringeworthy moment at the start when he gets up to make a drunken speech that he’s so clearly going to regret the next day.
As for Charlee Jensen, stuck with a run-down inn she bought with the man she’d considered the love of her life only to find herself alone with no money and all the renovation to do, it’s hard to see how she’ll manage.
It’s a great starting point for a love story between two highly likeable characters that so clearly deserve a happy ever after. But this tale is even more complex than that, for Jennifer Rodewald is gradually building a whole community of quirky but loveable characters in small town Montana and it’s how they interact and work together that demonstrates that obstacles can be overcome with persistence, hope, collaboration, open-mindedness and, of course, redemption.
This is a nicely paced, humorous and uplifting book and I highly recommend it.
I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest opinion of it.
Once again Jen Rodewald has penned a tale of humanity and the need for redemption that leaves the reader a better person. Lake Shore Renewal returns to Luna, Montana for an extended visit with the characters there. Reading the previous books in the series isn’t necessary but does enrich the experience. The book opens at a wedding where Noah is struggling openly. Oh my how things go wrong! But grace is extended by several in Luna, highlighting Noah’s inexcusable behavior. And so a tale of God’s grace unfolds that pulls the reader along. Charlee is described as offering “kindness in buckets when even a teaspoon might seem extravagant.” It is such kindness that helped break through the fog of Noah’s discontent. Isn’t that something to strive for - being so kind that it impacts others for good? I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
I think I have read every book Jennifer Rodewald has written. I must admit that when I received the news for this series, I resisted. I did not want to read a saga style series. I loved her Murphy Brothers series with connected characters, but did not want to read a saga style series. In fact, I did not buy any of them until the first three had been published. They lingered in my kindle for quite a while. When I finally broke down and read them, I devoured all three within a week; I was hooked. Lake Shore Renewal was such a wonderful addition to the series. It took me a few chapters to get into the rhythm of the story wondering if I’d met Charlee and Noah before and just didn’t remember. Their story had an inauspicious beginning, but was full of grace and redemption. Charlee and Noah’s story has become one of my favorites in the series. Just read it! You won’t be disappointed.
I love this latest book of the Redemption Shores Series. Noah and Charlee (Charlotte) are both invited to the wedding of Mason and Emily, their very significant others. Noah makes a drunken fool of himself at the reception and is taken to Charlee's inn to recover. Charlee unfortunately is in a joint ownership of the inn with Mason and is struggling to make a profit or at least meet her obligations. She very much wants to be free of an entaglement with Mason or Emily. Noah is determined to help her, and together they face a terrific task. Both need to overcome their former heartbreak and realize what is in front of them as they are perfect for each other.
This is a clean, well-written book which I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. I received an ARC of this book; the opinions expressed above are strictly my own.
This prompting in their spirits led Noah and Charlee into freedom they never expected. Charlee has tied herself to regret, shame, and guilt because of past mistakes and now her life is miserable; but once she lets go, God does big things for her. Noah is drowning in grief and heartbreak, but letting go restores the relationships that were broken and gives him a new future.
Their story is one of second chances after heartbreak, redemption after bad choices, and freedom from guilt that lets them move forward. Their romance is very tender and slow, but so worth it in the end.
I enjoyed the story and look forward to the series continuing. I received a complimentary copy from the author and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.
What a beautiful redemption story. And one I could relate to!! I walked in Charlee’s shoes and felt the weight of guilt and shame for many years until I finally released it all to God and accepted His forgiveness and grace!! And boy have I made huge mistakes along the way only to have friends like those in Luna pray for me and encourage me!! I loved the gentle romance that came from the ashes of broken dreams. I can’t wait to see what happens next!!! Jen’s next book can’t come soon enough!! 10 stars for this book!!
I’m not sure how, but this is the first book of hers I’ve read. But it won’t be my last! This story showed the consequences of poor life choices and the far-reaching of God’s love and redemption. Every character added to the depth of the story. So many golden truths embedded, I can’t list them. A favorite quote; “A man never knew how God might use him. And he didn’t need to know. He needed to obey.” Now I can reread it.
We have all made mistakes but the characters in this book learn that Grace is greater.
Two hurting people brought together by their mutual hurts have to learn that Grace is freely given. Such a sweet story with thought provoking subjects. Jennifer Rodewald writes stories that are fully woven with Faith at their core, this is no exception and in the gentle revelations you can see glimpses of your own struggles and reminders that you are never alone.
What a wonderful addition in this series. Noah's reaction at the wedding of his ex-fiancée and Charlee's ex-boyfriend doesn't go too well. Noah and Charlee are relatable characters who struggled with guilt and past mistakes, and Charlee also struggles with what to do as the inn's future is at stake. Themes of forgiveness, redemption, and grace are included in this contemporary Christian romance. I enjoyed seeing the characters from the previous books in Lake Shore Renewal. Wonderful story.
Charlee and Noah are the main characters in this book. At the start of the book, we are introduced to a drunk man who had been the groom to be, but was jilted for the new guy. Charlee had been engaged and even living with the groom, who was now marrying her life long best friend. Talk about convoluted! I loved how the friendship grew between Charlee and Noah, and then how their love started to grow. They both had repented and asked for forgiveness for their many sins and they lived in a totally different way now. I loved that. It was hard for Charlee to accept her forgiveness. Charlee had bought the small inn in their little community, but her ex held the mortgage. She could never feel free from that time in her life. You’re going to love how she gets over that!! I loved the book and highly recommend it to all. I was on the arc team and this is my honest, unsolicited review. 📕♥️
I continue to be amazed by this author. In every book I am encouraged and strengthened and this book is no exception. She reminded me of God's amazing grace for all the stupid mistakes I've made. I really appreciated her depiction of true intimacy. It's so much more than just physical intimacy.
I have truly loved all the books I have read by this author! The stories are so heartwarming. I love all the scripture that is included in each book. I read this series from beginning to end, all six books. Now I will search to see if the next 1 has been finished! I just can't get enough !
If only my review writing ability could do this book justice! This is a book that is incredibly full of faith and God’s grace. God can make broken things new, and the book starts with two broken people. Gradually Noah and Charlee learn to let go...which leaves them with open hands to receive God’s grace and the plans and gifts he has for them. You don’t have to have read the earlier books to read this one, but it’s nice to see characters from the earlier stories interwoven into this story. And we are introduced to a new side character...as well as seeing some of the other side characters. I am very much looking forward to the next books in the series. This is a must read if you love stories about faith, grace, brokenness, and healing.
This was such a sweet story of redemptive love ... and so reflective of THE story of redemption ... along with the blessing of God's amazing forgiveness and acceptance. I love the way Jennifer Rodewald brings hope and healing into hard, hard situations!
I love all of Jennifer Rodewald's books! I love how God is such a part of her stories of real life, real people! Can't wait to see what else will be going on in Luna.
Jennifer Rodewald doesn't merely tell a story. Somehow, she's interwoven the beauty of God' s creation. And yes, I look forward to Clayton and Gemma's story, to Landon and Tara's.
I have been waiting for thus booand am not disappointed! Love Jennifer Rodewald's writing style. Real characters, real problems, real Christian characters and real faith!
I wasn't sure when I started this book whether I'd like it, however it really was a wonderful story of grace, love, and redemption. The songs, scriptures, prayer and advice was refreshing and perfect.
The series as so many others is an adventure of a community filled with family made of love by choice. Every character heart warming and making you want to live in a community like Luna
This was a wonderful story about learning to trust God in everything in your life. Loved how the story ended with Charlee having her dream come true. And finding true love.
What happens when you take two people that got dumped by people they were serious with? It's neat to see what happens when we let go of our fears and let God do His thing. Very well done!!!
