Once again pursuing his horrifying dream of creating a new race of humans and of mastering the secrets of Life and Death, Dr. Frankenstein seeks to not only to dominate Science but Sorcery as well.
THE MADNESS OF FRANKENSTEIN
It will infect and infest the souls of all who come into contact with Frankenstein. Pray it does not take hold of you.
It's a written sequel to the Hammer Horror films. A young English doctor is somewhere on The Continent in a dungeon, killing rats to stay alive. He's charged by the religious police with being a believer in Frankenstein's experiments.
From there, we get the usual Hammer Frankenstein movie, only with the implied exploitational elements made plain.
What makes it even better is the twist at the end.
Makes me wish they'd made this movie in 1975 or so.
A very good novel about Frankenstein and his quest to create life.
I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me of the Hammer movies of Frankenstein. I liked the variety of characters. Frankenstein and his assistants, priests who are out to stop him. Some is those priests are too self-righteous. The horror and violence committed by both sides. If done correctly, this would make a good movie.
Suppose someone found an unreleased "lost" Hammer Frankenstein film starring Peter Cushing? I'd pay good money to see that. This book is the next best thing. There are some flaws: The first third is slow going; there are a lot of typos and oddball anachronisms, and the mix of Satanism and science makes even some of the characters object. But the target audience will most likely bend over backward to ignore these minor flaws and enjoy the nostalgic ride.
Peter Holden, a young doctor who is a devout follower of Doctor Baron Von Frankenstein finds himself in trouble with the law and will likely be executed. But the arrival of a mysterious letter to the court changed the Holden's fate forever.
If you enjoyed the old Hammer films, you'll definitely want to read The Madness of Frankenstein by Derrick Ferguson.
