Author Ron Johnson has a good conversational style.

Unfortunately I feel like this book was a little too short. Johnson had a lot of good ideas and you can feel his passion in the subject. And his down to earth conversational style made reading this book enjoyable. But at 35 pages there was very little information provided that I felt wasn’t already obvious to anyone who was considering living off grid. As a result it felt more like listing to someone “talk” about living off the grid after a stressful day at work, as opposed to learning the tools and information to start the process.

Short and sweet

This was a very short read which doesn't have me convinced that going off the grid is for me. But it is a thought I will keep in my back pocket. I would not feel confident even considering going off the grid having read this book. It has led me to more questions than answers.

More like a long magazine article

An intro not a how to.
This points you in the right direction for things to look up, like grow chickens not rabbits. It doesn't tell you how. For some things it literally tells you to go to YouTube or Google something.

Very beginners guide. It doesn't tell you much but what you have to look up. I've lived in a 3rd world country for 6 years and they didn't tell me anything I didn't know except how many states don't want you to live off the grid and I happen to live in one of them.
