Good!

All her books are good. Good mix of action and well developed characters. Je ne suis jamais déçu par cette auteure!

In “Pulse: Retaliation” by Eloise Knapp, the action picks up right where it left off in the first novel. Well not quite exactly where it left off, but one year later. That horrible worm parasite, the Anisakis Nova is back at it. Things had quieted down somewhat thanks to the events at the end of the first book (which I won’t give away), but the old adage “one step up and two steps back” holds true here. The remaining infected are changing, getting smarter, and organizing themselves. Led by familiar characters from the first book, they aim to reverse the progress and have a good plan to achieve just that. Knapp has a unique ability to create a sense of dread in her work, often with a good dose of creepiness thrown in for fun. The writing is very crisp, and the Pulse series gives the apocalypse genre a different and well needed change of pace. I highly recommend this book, as well as the first one. Top notch stuff that will keep you turning the pages!

Good story, crappy ending

Despite the grammatical errors, I enjoyed both books until the last chapter. It could have been a four-star story; however, the ending was so bad, and so disappointing, I feel unfulfilled! It seems as if the author ran out of ideas, or was only allowed so many words, so that was it! Nothing was tied up, nothing was solved; therefore, if you want to be left dangling, buy this book. Very unsatisfying.

Following directly on from the first book this is "more of the same"

That's not a bad thing though! It fleshes out the story and expands on the characters further. I really wanted to know what happens next and my only disappointment was that the third one isn't there for me to read yet!
