Short story #2 in the Omega Beginnings Miniseries ...
Mismatch hasn’t always been a statue standing guard over the Temple of Artemis. Once upon a time, thousands of years ago, he was a man who led a privileged life. Like the Greek monarchs before him, he fell victim to the family curse: he was turned to stone and forced to keep watch over the temple of a Greek god or goddess.
Out of the blue, five-year-old Alessandra breaks the spell. Mismatch seeks out the shy, young crown princess next in line to the family curse and warns her about her fate in the hopes of saving her from the living death.
He returns when Alessandra is in danger, but the powers behind those seeking her are prepared for anything.

Man, oh man.. Just when I thought things couldn't get better- they DID! I love getting to know these characters on a "personal" level. This is Mismatch's story and what can I say, i never pictured myself having a gargoyle as a book crush- but this one has it all. A rough exterior on the outside(at least at night) and a gentle caring heart on the inside. This one left me hanging a bit though.. Bring out the pitchforks we are going on a hunt!!
This is the second novelette Mismatch, it is easy to say this character will be one of my favorites.
He seeks out to warn those of his bloodline against the curse that has befallen his kind. Before he became a Gargoyle he was of royalty, tricked into becoming a stone guardian of the God's. This is where his journey begins. Trying to get accustomed to being human again during the day will prove to be a challenge, god the discription of him is to die for!!!
He is compelled to help Alessandra who brought him back to life sorta speak, and all those he encounters on the way, danger is deffinetly heading his way, as his journey back into the real world begins. And having to face those who seal his fate many a years ago.
Things will begin getting very interesting in this book, so much, will unfold in this story.
Again it only gets better, with all the characters coming into play. Can't wait for the next
Awesomely written sweet flow, more and more interesting by the words, you will love it.
I knew I was going to like Mismatch from the start so I couldn't wait to find out more about him. He heads out to warn his linage of what happens when they get to a certain point. Greek history and mythology has always drew me in. So when I come to find out he was originally human and was tricked into saying a spell I was even more intrigued. Crazy how much happens in this short story but also shows who mismatch is. He used to be a high and mighty prince but that changed after being stuck a statue for so many years. He cares and wants to protect those he knows are in danger. I can't wait to read the Omega series as well as the other mini stories. Authors should do this more often. It adds a twist to the story because you get snippets of how the story may play out but you also get to know all the characters personally from there point of view before the story even starts. I received this book in an exchange for an honest review.
this book was a great little series! I despritely wished it was longer lol I love mismatch and can wait for the story to unfold!
*****ARC SPOIL ALERT DESCRIPTION*****
Mismatch a lost human by day and odd living gargoyle by night all because little miss alessandra brought him back alive after turning into a statue over 4 thousand years ago. New to the here and now he is determined to save his bloodline from there curse of turning the family line into gargoyles by 17. Determined to save the next in line for the curse, he gets a message from the little girl who awoken him saying she was in danger.
flying to her rescue he sees the danger she is in and fights to help but all to soon it may not be enough.
Love love love how the worldbuilding deepens as we learn Mismatch's story. Not that we know all of it yet, but what he's forced into paints a long, lonely picture of servitude and... I don't know. Betrayal, maybe. He did his duty to his family line and then the curse enacted.
Brutal, man. Brutal.
I have a soft spot for gargoyles AND for men who have been broken by circumstances. Mismatch isn't broken, exactly, but I feel like he's teetering between worlds. He doesn't quite remember who he was and he doesn't quite fit into this more modern world.
I imagine things will get very bad before they get better.
Mismatch is the second story in the Prequel Miniseries for the Omega Series and I wasn't disappointed in the continuation of this story.
We learn more about Mismatch being a prince and due to a curse within the bloodline; he was turned into a grotesque. A lot is packed into this prequel and after reading it, you don't want the story to end.
Lizzy Ford gives you an inside look of each character within the prequels and takes you on a journey of fantasy, danger and suspense.
The Omega series is going to be amazing and Lizzy Ford has taken her imagination to new heights and I'm glad to be on the ride with her. I can't wait until I read more of this series.
OMG, Ms Ford continues to pull you deeper into this new series she has created. Mixmatch's life was one of privilege before the curse. He truly was saved by the touch of little Alessandra. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next pre-story!!! If you are a true fan of Ms Ford like me, then you will love what she's created. It's hard for me to write a review without giving away things. All I can say is for you to just grab a copy and read it for yourself!! Just know that you aren't reading a true Lizzy Ford book if you aren't crying, smiling, and screaming at one point while reading it. No one can pull it off like Lizzy can...lol!!!
Mismatch begins where Alessandra left off. We discover how he became to be a grotesque or gargoyle and we meet another young child he seems destined to save, Phoibe. Already I can tell Mismatch is going to be my favourite character in this series and, as with the first book, I was left with my heart in my mouth wanting more.
Even though these are very short instalments they are packed full of mystery, gripping drama and intrigue. This prequel mini series is setting us up very nicely for what promises to be another amazing series, Omega, due out in October.
We Lizzy Ford keeps doing this to us! She hooks us and then leaves us hanging. In this short story we get to she what is going on in Mismatch's mind and how he is dealing with being awakened. We get to learn some more things about him but others are still left a mystery. We also get to see what is going through his mind when he goes to save Alessandra. In some ways we are left with more questions then answers and I am agonizingly waiting for the next book! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you have no read Alessandra (#1, Omega Beginnings Miniseries), you really need to read it to understand exactly what is going on in Mismatch.
In Alessandra, we met Alessandra and learned about her unique gift. In Mismatch, we learn more about Mismatch -- his origin and importance.
With this being such a short book, there is no way to write too much of a review in regards to what happens in the story without telling you the whole story. I will warn you that once again, Lizzy leaves us with a cliffhanger of an ending!!!
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Mismatch, Omega Beginnings #2 by Lizzy Ford 5 stars
Mismatch is more than I even expected. His character has more surprising facets than I thought. I think think introduction to who he is and who he will become only touches the tip of what will be. These are already like the best teasers for what this book series will become. I look forward to #3 - Phoibe!
This was the second novelette in this series and i must say it is even better than the first. I really like mismatch in this short read. Mismatch tries to protect Alessandra but fails to do so and ends up hurt in the end. Mismatch is still trying to get use to his body since he has been stone for a very long time and he is also still trying to get use to the world around him. i am really loving this new series and i can not wait to see where lizzy goes next. btw there is a cliffy of course.
This second episode of the Omega Beginnings miniseries was good.
I feel really bad for Mismatch. Being woken up after 4,000 years, not knowing the customs or language, no place to stay, nothing that is his. But, he knows that he needs to protect two little girls.
Some action in the story as well. Even though we just met him, I feel quite attached to this character. Waiting on the next installment to see what happens next!
In book one we met Alessandra and learned her unique gift. In this short we learn more about Mismatch and his importance. We learn his history and some more about how he ended up the way he was found in the first book. As this novella progresses we are left with another cliffhanger ending, but that is expected. I am excited to see where this story is headed for Alessandra, Mismatch and the princess.
Great writing, great story development and great cliffhanger!
I really liked the second part. This part is about Mismatch we find that Alessandra has awoken Mismatch and he is free from the curse that made him a statue. We find that he is a prince from Ancient Greece and he now has a connection to Alessandra. we then find out that he turns human in the day time and wants to protect her. I can't wait for the next one. :)
Part 2 of the Omega Prequel Miniseries is about an animated Grotesque who was brought to life by Alessandra. I love how Ms Ford is building up the characters for the upcoming Omega series. The suspense keeps building in this well written short story, each with their own cliffhanger endings!! I can't wait to read the rest of this series!!
Absolutely love Mismatch and Lizzy's slant on Gargoyles. While still early on, this series just gets better and better. I love the idea of past and present, Greek Gods, and fascinating secrets slowly evolving into a fantastic series. I'm looking so forward to meeting the other characters...wish there wasn't a month between each!!
This is the origin story of Mismatch who became stone at seventeen and then brought to life by Alessandra. Mismatch knows that he has to keep Alessandra safe from the Greek gods. A new character Phoibe is introduced in this short story. I am really enjoying these short story glimpses into the new world and series created by Lizzy Ford. 5 stars.
Episode Two of Lizzy Ford's new Omega Beginnings Miniseries is again short, like the first episode Alessandra, having only 4 chapters. I'm still not sure I like the once a month chapter stories, but I am interested to see how this story will continue. I absolutely love the character, Mismatch, his interesting background and kind heart.
This mini series is very interesting but frustrating as well. It gives you just enough to suck you in and then it's over. I find myself looking forward to the next month for the next short story but want to scream cause what I was reading is over. I have found both books very entertaining just wish they had all come out at one time maybe as one story.
I like this short story it leaves off where alessandra leaves off while still giving a great back story. the character gives you a taste of what's to come. can't wait for the rest of this series and the main one
This series must be read in order. The first book is Alessandra. This is the second book. I can't wait to read Phoibe!
Once the Crown Prince of Greece, Mismatch now no longer remembers his true name. Being a stone gargoyle for over 4000 year will do that to you! He is still adjusting to being a living being again but he knows there are things that he must do. Warning his descendant, Phoibe, of the Curse, and preventing her unwitting compliance in uttering the Spell that would activate it, is one of his major concerns. The other is protecting the special girl who brought him back to life. Noone is meant to have that kind of power outside of the Gods. Both girls are in imminent danger. Will he get to them both in time? Can he adjust to being alive again? Will he ever purge the stiffness that accompanies being stone for so long? Will the Gods destroy him when they learn of his new existence?
***This series is suitable for young adult through adult readers who enjoy paranormal in their modern fantasy suspense thrillers filled with the Old Gods and a bit of scifi :)
I read the first book in the Omega Beginnings series and am very glad that book number 2 somewhat follows on and links into book number 1. If it had gone off on an unrelated tangent I would have been disappointed. It was good to be able to read about Mismatch's background and how he came to be, I was quite confused with the whole God's thing and how the world works in the Omega universe, it was summed up more clearly in the summary for the book rather than the book itself. It would be nice if it was simply stated in the book that there are God's and Princes and Priestesses and how it all works.
Once again the book was way too short for my liking and I would have loved more detail about his background and the interaction between Mismatch and the now 2 children.
Really looking forward to this series as a whole, I love Lizzy's writing style, she really knows how to capture an audience and keep them on the edge of their seat.
I enjoyed reading things from Mismatch’s point of view and I find it interesting how he can hear Alessandra calling for him. Also I like the mysteriousness of Ms. Nettles in the ending. Maybe there is something more to Alessandra’s cuddly protector.
I’m really enjoying these character introductory type short stories. We get a feeling for how they are and what their background is. It’s getting more excited for the series!
Wonderful flow to the story you get sucked in and keep turning the pages.
I’m looking forward to the next installment. Another great cliffhanger of an ending
We pick up where book one ends, sort of...the time table overlaps in that in this one, we get Mismatch's perspective after having met Alessandra, and what he does after he left her, and before he returns to her. The catch? This one leaves off with one heck of a cliff hanger. There is more to Mismatch than originally known, and his history more involved. Again, makes me crave the full novel to understand how his and Alessandra's fates are intertwined, and what is to come.
Like the first, this is super short, and an introduction to a character which serves to provide some back ground to the full book coming soon.
Let me first state I am a BIG fan of Lizzy Ford's books. I volunteered to read the Short Stories of the Omega Series. I really loved the first book, Alessandra. Highly recommend it. This second book in the series is equally enthralling and such a great , creative story. I am not going to be a spoiler but I highly recommend this book and the whole Omega Series. I am not a young Adult but an over 60 adult that loves a little magic and sci-fi in my books. This is a wonderful story for all ages. Get it as soon as you can. Please allow yourself to be swept away into a story of magic, mystery and adventure! Highly recommend! Everyone will want their own Ms. Nettles and MisMatch!
I received a copy of book for an honest review. This book is 24 pages. It overlaps some with Alessandra and then continues further. It is told through the viewpoint of Mismatch (introduced in Alessandra) and lets you get to know his character a little better while simultaneously bringing a different perspective to some of the events that took place in Alessandra. You are also briefly introduced to other characters that seem likely to be important as the series moves forward. I can't wait to see how this series move forward. Thanks Lizzy!
Although a little confusing at first, as the world around him isn't explained, but rather seen as he sees it- disorienting & confusing, I think it's definitely a promising start. We get to understand the events in Alessandra from another POV which was really helpful.
So far I like the characters that are being introduced and the very different, yet similar world they seem to inhabit. I'm looking forward to what happens next, although the length of these prequels will drive me completely bonkers, it was over in 15 minutes!!!
I received an ARC of this story from the author in exchange for an honest review.
What I dislike: this story is too darn short! Such a tease!
What I like: Everything! This is an interesting, imaginative and creative story and I sense that when all is said and done, this is going to be a great story. This is the second installment and Lizzy Ford does not disappoint. Just when things get interesting, however, the story ends. OK, I can't wait for the next installment.
