I was looking forward to the next book in this series and was very happy to get an ARC. I love this series about the lifeguards who work at Barking Beach.

This book is about Lachie (Ryan's best friend) who hooks up with Tim (Ryan's dad) while on vacation. It's been 15 years since they've seen each other - Tim doesn't recognize him. Surprise - when Lachie gets back home and goes back to work, he finds that Tim is temporarily coming in to take the job of head lifeguard for a few months. It's at this point that Tim realizes he had a one night stand with Ryan's childhood friend. A good half of the book is them trying to deny their attraction - not only because of the huge age gape, but also the fact that Tim knew Lachie as a child, and the fact that Tim is currently Lachie's boss. A death of a swimmer at the beach tears down the walls and they can no longer deny their attraction.

It's a good book with a lot of great characters. There's plenty of spice once they finally give in, and tons of found family. The only thing that I didn't care for (& the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is the HUGE age gap. 20 years is just too much - especially when I didn't really feel that I knew Tim very well. Lachie's motives were clear, but Tim's seemed kind of vague. Anyhow, they do get their HEA, although they both end up changing jobs (for the better).

I really loved this third book in the Barking Beach series! I enjoyed the Aussie and surfing lingo because it felt so authentic and immersive. Lachie was easy to love right from the first page. It took me a while to warm up to Tim, but once I started getting peeks beneath his layers I was hooked. While Lachie and Tim's relationship was a bit rocky in the beginning, it smoothed out as they started catching feelings for each other. Many authors swear by the third act breakup, but personally I prefer when the MCs stand shoulder to shoulder to work through difficult situations together, as Lachie and Tim did in critical junctures of this story. I also enjoyed the positive resolution of Tim's family drama. Don't miss this terrific story!

I absolutely love this series!

And was so happy to get Lachie’s story and what a journey!

Between best friend’s dad and new boss and some unresolved trauma, I didn’t know WHAT the happy ending would look like but it was well earned and an enjoyable journey from start to finish. And Lachie may hate his “Sharky” nickname but that’s a man who goes for what he wants and i loved it!

Fun Aussie banter. Honest scenes between Tim & Ryan. Appreciate the inclusion of Mimi and her relationship dynamics. And Lachlan’s grief that felt true and believable. And then throw in all of these beloved cast of characters and their dangerous gig? Of course it’s another great addition to a great series!
