Rate this book
Fallout meets Progression Fantasy in this post-apocalyptic military thriller.

Green Beret Kevin Moore wakes up 150 years too late. World War III has ravaged America, leaving behind a hellscape where weaponized Red40 has corrupted the biosphere. Ninety-nine percent of life has twisted into voracious mutant zombies.

But the toxin didn't kill Kevin. It evolved him.

Now wielding superhuman strength and the ability to manipulate the very Red40 that destroyed the world, Kevin must grow and master his new powers to survive.

But he cannot navigate this hostile wasteland alone. Flanked by a one-eyed sniper with a wolf mutation and a lethal blonde operator, Kevin has a job to do.

Because no matter the year, war never changes.

It was ok

The book just felt a little off to me, the intro was a little confusing with the time line like our MC said he blacked out after an explosion and next thing he knew he woke up in a tube but then goes on to talk about everything that happened in the 6 months after the explosion. It was very confusing and I had to reread it a couple times. The rest of the book was fine, characters could be a little more personal and emotional. There really wasn't any emotional connection to draw the reader in. The world is definitely the savior of the this book, its interesting and the author has the details down. The series could definitely be amazing if we get a little more character development in the next one, it did get better towards the end but I was already unfortunately checked out by that point and just trying to finish it. I will be giving the next one a shot though.

I made it 50% through this book before I couldn't take it anymore. The MC is so OP that combat scenes are worthless to read.

The MC is from 2075 when the world governments (or just the U.S.) were using a chemical called Redz40 as a chemical weapon, and it causes cancer in people, including the MC, who has a stage 4 brain tumor. He's a Green Beret, but he's opted into a special program called the Red Lazarus Project that feels that if he's in a suspension pod for 50 years, an AI can help clean up his cancer. The problem is, he's not awoken until the year 2225, 150 years later. And he's the only survivor of the program. A program that has given him massive upgrades the AI has built using the Redz40 chemicals.

He can use Real Time Dilation (RTS) to move and react at 300% speed, making everything else move in super slow motion. He's limited in how long he can use it, but amazingly, every time he's in combat, it lasts long enough. This makes his insanely OP to the point that combat scenes are farcical at best. At one point that decided for me to bail, he shoots a RPG rocket out of the air after it's been fired at him. Previously, he personally killed like 50+ mutants while others scratched their (you know whats) because he's so amazing. All the scenes involve him with 2 others, his commander that does mid-range shooting, and a sniper that takes targets out from long range. But the MC is front and center being the hero at every moment.

At the 50% point, he's had one sexual encounter, a blowjob from some Captain whose daughter he saved. It was a throwaway scene that added zero to the story. His commander acts interested, but that's about it. Neither the commander nor the sniper did much for me, and I just couldn't get into them.

I'm tired of MC's that are so powerful that combat situations seem like a joke.

This is one of the better Haremlit books I have read

This was an action based, high octane thriller with lots of ups and downs.

The MC was a grounded and believable guy that makes you want to root for him.

The LI introduced is introduced in unique and interesting way and gives the reader time to really fall in love with her and it shows you to other two LI that will be in the series.
