I would like to thank Damien for trusting me with this project. It’s been so hard not to tell anyone about it and I’ve probably annoyed him with all of the messages I’ve sent because I can’t discuss anything with anyone else.

This book is 1.5 in the Architects series. Although you can read this as a stand alone book, I would recommend reading book 1 (Orchestra of the Gods) before reading this novella as it would give you more of an entry and understanding to this world. Then, there is Last Moon of the Timekeeper which is number 0.5 in the series, the first novella.

In Silence of the Wind, we meet Daeven, a father just doing what a father does. Trying to protect his child the best he can and however he can. The novella is such a heart-warming story of the struggles Daeven has to face and getting through them, no matter the cost. From new characters to new enemies and environments, you never know what’s in store on this adventure.

This book has you feeling almost every emotion you have. You never know how the story is going to go and has you wanting to read more. If it weren’t for me having to secretly read this. I would have 100% read it in a couple of hours.

This series so far is one of the best series’ I’ve read this year and I can’t wait for the next instalment. I am patiently and impatiently awaiting book 2. So chop chop Damien, Q1 2026 needs to hurry up and so do you.

🌬️ Silence of the Wind by Damien Buckley 🌬️

Where do I even begin?

Okay so this wowed me

Orchestra of the Gods and Last Moon of the Timekeeper were already incredible reads, but Silence of the Wind somehow managed to exceed my expectations entirely. I flew through this novella in two short sittings while waiting for my partner in a waiting room haha, and from the very first page I was completely and instantaneously pulled back into this wonderful world.

As I already understood the magic system and the world Damien has created, I was able to dive straight in without hesitation. Everything felt instantly familiar and super immersive. The writing is beautifully executed , and the emotional depth packed into this story is truly impressive considering its size !!

I absolutely loved the characters, particularly the relationship that forms between Daeven and Uehan. Watching this story unfold, a father willing to put his life on the line in search of a cure for an incurable disease, driven purely by love for his daughter was particularly moving. It pulled at my heartstrings in all the best ways.

Despite being around 100 pages, nothing felt rushed. The pacing was immaculate, smooth, and easy to follow, allowing every emotional note to hit just perfectly. The sacrifice, bravery and quiet strength throughout the story made the ending especially impactful and deeply satisfying.

This 1.5 novella has left me even more excited and hyped for book two of Orchestra of the Gods so if you haven’t picked up this novella yet what on earth are you waiting for ??????
Damien Buckley has once again proven his talent for emotional storytelling and rich world-building.

✨ Fantastic work, Mr Buckley!! you’ve truly impressed me again. ✨

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Beautifully written, as always. I really enjoy this author’s writing style. The overall story is emotional and intense. The way the characters’ hardships are explored feels raw and genuine without ever being overdone.

What stood out to me most was how normal Daevan felt. His questions about life, morality, and the cruelty of the situation came across as painfully real and honest. The internal struggle of loving someone, wanting to protect them, and trying to make the “right” choice without destroying your own conscience was handled beautifully. Nothing felt clear cut, and that moral greyness made the story hit harder.

Even though this is a short book, it offers a refreshing new perspective within the same world. There’s plenty to sink your teeth into, and it remains gripping and thrilling from start to finish. A great read that left a strong impression, and one I couldn’t help but rate six stars.

This was a fantastic story set in the world that Damien is creating. This absolutely can be read whenever, as a novella should be, but definitely felt nice reading it after the first book in the series.

You follow a father who is on a mission to save his daughter from an illness that can't be cured. He hopes it she takes the branding, one of this world's way of accessing magic.

You get to meet characters from the main series, explore more of the world and experience what this series is all about. It's a fantastic novella and I'm excited to see where this story goes with book 2 and beyond.

Well, what can I say, this book was kept a secret so well, when the author told his readers about it, was the very day he released it, and what an absolute surprise, this was officially my first read of 2026, and if the year goes how it starts, then I'm in for a great year of reading, and a literature based emotional rollercoaster, again, this author has managed to captivate the heart and mind,

The character Daeven has so much emotional depth, capturing the power of a fathers love, fear and determination to protect and save his child, meeting familiar faces from his main Novel, (Orchestra Of the Gods), just as powerful and gripping as his first Novella in this series (Last Moon of the Timekeeper) very powerful stories each in their own unique way,

A very powerful and relatable story, while keeping the fantasy and incredible world that has been created, the 3rd book from this author does not disappoint, again he left me speechless as I closed the book, only a short read, but one that you will not regret reading, I literally could not put it down, my intention was to make a start, and read some, then come back to it in the morning, but I ended up still struggling to put the book down, even after I turned from the final page, again this new author has written a full and complete story within his world, that comes to a satisfying end, with a sense of closures but still leaves you not just wanting more, but absolutely needing more.

This can be read alone, or as part of his series 'The Architect Trilogy' to which I highly recommend, and I am now left in a state of anticipation waiting for the next installment of this trilogy, wanting to know where he takes his story, and what comes of the characters he has gotten us attached to

A fantastic novella which is book 1.5 in the series.

The book showed heart & emotion strength along with the unrelenting persistence of a fathers love & bond with his daughter as you follow Daevan on his travels trying all avenues to help his sick daughter.

You see some old faces that have already been introduced in book 1 (Orchestra of the Gods), but what stole the show for me in this book is the cinderfox - dragons bought me to this series, but I may have found a new love!

This novella is very much interlinked with OOTG, so you will need to read book 1 before this novella, otherwise certain plot lines will not make sense. A great read that definitely fleshes out some characters & gives you more backstory of the world & the Architect dynamics, which I'm gathering will only enhance the reading experience of book 2 - Absolutely recommend reading this if you are as hooked on the Architect series as I am.

Another great addition to ryban

Well I went into this book, not knowing quite what I expected as it takes place at the same time as my favorite read of 2025 by the same author.

And I will willingly admit it caught me off guard, the characters I already knew read so differently, new aspects and old reinforcing my love for them. The new characters are built to last and reappear later I have no doubt.

I did get a larger sense of dread as I read, drawing comparisons with the 1st main book that I thank god proved to be false.

The world was already built in my mind from prior books this one enhances them in a very good way, parts almost presenting me with a post apocalypse vibe. (After our world ends by certain scenes) Then for some reason a weird unexpected star trek future world type vibe. Yet neither can be true can they? It's a different world unless it's just the matrix.

Overall the book is a fabulous addition and I look forward to the next instalment.

Set before and concurrent to the events of The Orchestra of the God's, get ready to dive deeper into the religious lore of Dawan.

Daevan would do anything to save his daughter, even break the proscribed rituals and traditions of the world he loves.

A heartfelt and tragic journey of family and magic that just accentuates the already established lore whilst giving more context to the events of Orchestra of the God's.
