As a celebrity assistant, Stevie Young guards the lies, scandals, and personal drama of the famous elite. Maintaining discretion is just part of her job description. When she begins working for renowned celebrity couple Dean Bennington and Lana Lim, Stevie feels like she has hit the jackpot. Both stars are prolific and refreshingly unpretentious, not to mention the objects of public obsession.

When Lana suffers a mysterious injury, the incident calls into question everything Stevie previously thought. Lana’s accident sets an explosive chain of events into motion. The following weeks reveal a life shrouded in deception with a perilous web of deceit at its core. As Stevie falls even deeper into Dean and Lana’s orbit, she begins to realize that nothing is what it seems.

The closer Stevie gets to the pair, the less she knows what—and who—to believe. As the investigation continues, Stevie will stop at nothing to sift through the lies, uncover the real story, and bring the shocking truth to light.

From page one, it’s known that there’s an odd dynamic between Dean and Stevie where their relationship feels too perfect to be true. The more you read the more you realize how much of what the public saw of their relationship wasn’t real and you start seeing what was hidden behind closed doors. The interactions between Stevie and the characters along with Lana’s secret journal reveal the hidden truths of the seemingly perfect couple.

The scenes at the house when Stevie would interact with Dean were eerie. It felt as though any moment Dean could lash out at Stevie. Something felt off about him and all of the interactions with him left me feeling uneasy.

The journal reveals the hidden life and thoughts of Lana that no one knew about. The journal entries created questions about which character was telling the truth about the relationship and lives of Lana and Dean and what had really happened to Lana.

The ending wasn’t what I had been suspecting. It took me by surprise. Great plot twist and ending. I really loved all of this story!

I also enjoyed this authors other books Last Liar Standing and Tiny Wild Things.

At no point in this book could I guess what would happen next. A really well crafted mystery, I loved how journal entries were incorporated into the story to add more depth.

Thank you @daniellemwong_@katerockliteraryservices @redadeptpublishing for my complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

SUMMARY: A celebrity assistant uncovers dark secrets while investigating a mysterious injury to a famous client, leading her into a dangerous web of lies and deception.

MY THOUGHTS: This book grabbed my attention right from the very first chapter! I was immediately engrossed in the story. Stevie, the main character, has a knack for snooping on her celebrity bosses, and when she stumbles upon the hidden journal of her favorite star, she can’t resist diving in. What she uncovers is far beyond what she anticipated!

The narrative unfolds through dual perspectives: Stevie, the nosy assistant, and Lana, the epitome of glamour in the celebrity world. While I enjoyed the journal excerpts, Stevie’s perspective captivated me even more as she first marveled at the glamour and romance in Lana’s life and then later struggled with the weight of the secrets she discovered. And just a heads-up—prepare for a stunning twist at the end!

The Lines Between by Danielle M. Wong is a book by the author involving a celebrity assistant named Stevie Young. She starts working for a celebrity IT couple and then begins to find out that not everything as it seems between the couple and what to believe. I thought that the author did a great job of writing the creepiness of Dean's character and the journal really adds to the story overall in my opinion. Those entries really add to the story to convey what actually happened to the characters. I was immersed in the story from the beginning as I was trying to figure out more about the couple and what was happening to them. I thought that ending was really unexpected and was really surprised at what happened. I was not expecting that at all! This is a perfect example of suspense and build up that really worked!

A new author to me. I didn't really like Stevie's character, there wasn't anything in her behaviour that endeared me to her right from the start. The part of the story that kept me engrossed was Lana and Dean's relationship and whether they were always acting. I did like the twists at the end, which made this story deserving of 4 stars even though the story dragged at times.
I will gladly read more from this author.

I had read Tiny Wild Things by the author and was eager to read this book as part of @katerockbooktours. A suspenseful mystery about a celebrity assistant that starts working with a famous couple . It’s not what she expects it to be at all and builds up to an unexpected surprise of an ending!
