A genie, 3 wishes, and a wholllleeee lot of drama!
Whew… there is a LOT to unpack with this book—and I mean that in the best way possible.
This story comes with a whole slew of characters, multiple POVs, nonstop drama, and some truly wild moments. I’m not even gonna lie—I was this close to DNF’ing it 🤏🏾because a few scenes genuinely caught me off guard and turned my stomach a little bit. The trigger warnings did not prepare me the way I thought they would 😭
That said… I’m really glad I stuck it out.
Because buried under all that chaos is a really good story.
Think supernatural genie magic mixed with hood love and real-life messiness, and that’s exactly what you’re getting. The book is 70 chapters long, but honestly…Every chapter earns its place. Every character has something to say, something going on, and some form of drama that keeps the story moving.
The MFC, Haze, comes into possession of a lamp her mother buys from a thrift store only to discover that Esco is inside, ready to fulfill her every wish and desire. And baby… things spiral from there in the most entertaining way.
The spice is absolutely delectable (minus the scenes I mentioned earlier), and the drama is top-tier. This book does not let you get comfortable, and I kinda loved that about it.
By the end, I was fully invested. So invested that now I have to read book two because I’m nosy and emotionally attached. I need to know what happens next, and whether Esco and Haze get the happy ending I was rooting so hard for.
If you like messy, dramatic, supernatural romance that keeps you on your toes, this one is worth the ride….. buckle your seatbelt.

Girlllaaa when I tell you Jade wrote this book well she did that. I will say a lot of the characters annoyed me to the point I wanted to reach out and slap them myself because they mixed other peoples business into their own without having full context and ruined other peoples lives that bothered me so deeply truthfully. Keisha was mad at Haze but it wasn’t even Haze she should’ve been fighting it was Bubbles and Richard !! Then how Loc never told Keisha or Richard that that child was his. Boiled my blood. But the gag that really got me was Rico and Haze daddy being lovers and how Haze was giving her daddy money just for the daddy to send to Rico in jail. Then how Rico was playing Azira whatever her name is … Just for Haze to finally see it was the same girl who ran out on her for a hairstyle. Just for the boy to like men all along! So boom Haze momma clipped her husband for the disrespect of 30 years of marriage and truthfully I don’t blame shawty. Clara speaking up on Haze and Esco being a genie made me hate her so deeply especially to the most evil man ever LJ bruh !! She gained nothing from saying that to him .. NOTHING! That made no sense to me at all for that woman telling Haze business like that and if she’d hush then Keisha would still be alive and Haze wouldn’t have been assaulted by LJ’s men and Esco would still be on Haze nightstand ! But here we go into book 2 …

I am just going to put it on the table. I know this is fiction but the women in this book were either desperate, foolish and clueless. I was completely angry with them Haze is so hurt that she can't comprehend that she is truly loved. Halle definitely is blind by the truth of her 30 year marriage with her cruel husband. Bubble has low self esteem. Keisha is standing strong in her wrong. Annika is a foolish silly little girl that doesn't have any true guidance. Finally, Clara is the worst possible friend/neighbor you could possibly have. She is the type of person that is willingly ruining her life because of her stupidity and now wants to hurt others because she has no sense of control or loyalty. However I did enjoy this book, looking forward for the next one . Thank you 😊

This book had everything drama, romance, suspense, comedy, and a whole lot of spice!
Hazel has endured a lifetime of hurt when it comes to love, so her walls are sky-high. But everything shifts the day she goes thrift shopping with her mom and stumbles across a mysterious lamp that changes her life in ways she never expected.
Esco completely stole my heart. His patience, loyalty, and the way he handled Hazel ,even when she didn’t make it easy — had me swooning. Meanwhile, Hazel’s stubbornness had me frustrated more than once. She really put Esco in some tough positions, and when everything starts unfolding? Whew. I was literally flabbergasted.
This story takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. Just when you think you know what’s coming, the plot twists hit. If you love romance with depth, tension, humor, and serious heat, this one is definitely worth the read!

All over the place…
This is the first book by Jade Jones that I didn’t like. There were way too many unnecessary characters, and honestly, there wasn’t much of a plot. Even though Haze and Esco were into each other, I didn’t feel the romance at all. The story felt very all over the place, and because of that, I won’t be continuing with the second book.
On the other hand, her recent book *HEAVEN SENT ME A HERO* was truly amazing and beautifully written. I definitely recommend reading that one—it’s much better than this book. TRUST ME!!

This genuinely just didn’t work for me. I feel like it was too long for no reason because a lot of it was just filler. It is so unnecessary to have that many point of views that don’t even really connect back into the main story. This is very very, very messy for the sake of being messy. I genuinely don’t really see why Haze and Esco like each other outside of sexual chemistry unless this is supposed to be like a fated mates situation because there was no reason for them to be acting like that when they didn’t know each other whatsoever.

Ms. Jones has done it again. I was drawn in from the beginning. It gave me the same intrigue as ‘Heaven Sent Me a Hood Hero’. The story had great characters and wasn’t overwhelming. I had to keep reading and couldn’t put it down. I loved Haze and Esco together, even his little nickname he game her. So many secrets and that mayor is trifling. And this ending… I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Omg this was such a good book . At first I didn't like how many characters I had to follow but so worth it. Unpopular opinion I didn't like haze . Yes she sent Esco away cause she was scared but the way he opened up to her about his parents and then she through it back in his face . Thats not love and I hate when ppl do that . But great read so many shocking moments.

This wasn’t a 5 star read for me personally as I felt the story used a lot of filler. The descriptions ran on for paragraphs, when I would have enjoyed more of the story itself unfolding. I do highly recommend the book, and I will reach for part 2. I am hoping there isn’t as much fluff.

This was WILD
This is probably the wildest ride a hood romance has ever taken me on. The multiple storylines happening adjacent to the main one almost made this a DNF. The last handful of chapters however brought it all together and made me glad I didn’t quit this book. I’m looking forward to part 2.

Haze was a solid FMC, Esco had me hooked, and the spice was VERY much giving 😌🔥. Too many POVs for my taste, but that ending was messy in the best way. I’ll definitely be back for part two.

Bury this book was chaotic as hell & to top it off the cliffhanger pissed me off….I need my boy Esco to get his baby back, Haze momma finna go to jail, I need to know what happened to the daddy & Riot, plus what happened with bubble? 10/10 book overall I loved it!

4.5 ⭐️ I’m not a huge fantasy girl but when Jade told me this was urban with fantasy I thought hmmm that might be my jam, and boy did I have a time with this one! Started this book Saturday night and finished Monday morning can’t wait to read part 2 🧞♂️
