The Vampire of Haebit

Rate this book
In a world where vampires walk freely under the sun, Haesun is the rare exception—a cursed vampire unable to withstand daylight. Hidden away in the depths of the earth by his own father, Haesun endures years of isolation… until he finally breaks free, killing his captor in the process.

Maya, an English tutor living in Korea, finds her life upended when she’s suddenly transported to a parallel world ruled by vampires. Thrust into danger, she crosses paths with Haesun in a fateful encounter that exposes him to sunlight. When he drinks her blood, something unprecedented happens—he survives.

Bound by a newfound parasitic connection, Maya—whom Haesun nicknames Haebit—is forced to become his living blood source. With her unwilling help, Haesun sets his sights on reclaiming what was once stolen from the throne. His only request of her? Stay alive—and give him the sun.

this has become my favorite book by this author, hands down!!! I laughed quite a lot and I truly enjoyed the other characters of the book. The only thing I noticed is .. the author def had a hard time writing in the POV of Maya. As her chapters tend to be the shortest and she mostly told the book through Haesun and Tyron POV. none the less Feara writing has improved drastically! AUTO BUY AUTHOR FOREVER!

Tropes: Fated Mates, Higher Beings, Vampires, Multiple Narrators, Enemies to Lovers, Paranormal, Mental Health Representation, Dark Romance, Alternate World. Innocent Hero

The Vampire of Haebit by Feara W is the second book that I have read by this author. Her books deftly combine elements of reincarnation, alternate worlds and passionate couplings. The pair in this story are delightfully matched and as a bonus we get a third POV from the solid and loyal, Tyren; his steady account brings a sense of gravitas to the proceedings.
Maya has lived and worked as an English tutor in Korea for a while when she is catapulted into an alternate world where vampires and humans coexist, with humans mainly being used as nourishment. She soon learns that she has been summoned by a shaman as a gift for King Haesun, who is more than ready to have her as his next snack. However, Maya is determined to survive and fights fiercely for her freedom! Unlike common lore, vampires are able to handle direct sunlight. Unfortunately, Haesun is a rarity, and sunlight is deadly to him. While in this life-or-death battle, Haesun comes to realize that Maya’s blood makes him immune to the sun for short periods of time. So now instead of dispatching her he needs to hold on to this salvation. The only thing, it is hard to make friends with someone you tried to eat😊.

Conclusion:
Feara W gives us a truly magnificent story (imo) of reincarnation, fated mates and hidden deities. Haesun is a giddy, innocent, yet immensely powerful being. At points in time, he is snarky, playfully petty, nurturing, thoughtful and endlessly entertaining. He has spent all of his formative years locked away from the world but emerged with the ability to lead, form friendships and show boundless love. Of course, it took some time and effort for Maya to go from being a potential meal to a fated mate! Her life in both worlds proved to be hard but her almost reluctant falling for Haesun is extremely cute. The author allows readers to see authentic struggles with addiction and mental health issues without easy solutions. As noted, Tyren was a wonderful grounding addition; he served in lieu of a parent to Haesun, Maya even his promised bride, Haesun’s sister, Sol. The world Feara W has created is intriguing and holds great beauty and even greater danger; conflicts are constant and the “Big Bad” was expected but I did not imagine just how BAD they would prove to be. Overall, I did not want this story to end and would gladly read more about Haesun, Maya (Haebit), Tyren, Sol and little Haien!

Favorite Lines:
“It worked, Jinsang! The summoning actually worked. We have a foreigner from another world to trade! I can’t believe it!”

If I were dealing with a superhuman, then so be it, but I wasn’t going down without a fight.

She was silent. Her face was so perfectly chubby, her eyelashes long and lush. Her lips were soft.

“You’ll never know the feeling of something you’ve never had until you’ve finally had it.”

No one should rudely go into someone else’s pantry without asking and pull out the owner’s favorite snack.”

,,,always tell them that they were his pets, but it was weird because all he did was treat them like family.

“Maya, let’s survive this together, hm? That’s all we have to do… is survive this together.”

“However, she is fated to you. And with fate, anything could happen. But I doubt that this would.”

“I don’t know why that little snack is attached to me. I’ll visit her when I come back. What does she want?”

There were so many moments where he seemed so normal, a little silly and childish, but normal.

Our hearts beat at the same pace when we are next to each other. She is my other half. My sun. And now I find out she is also a part of my soul.

“All things considered, Haebit comes first.

To be the father figure that Haesun never had will kill me one day. An immortal being.

“If you see it as kindness, fine. But make sure you don’t see it as a weakness.

“I think that you’re perfect. What I’d give to sleep with you. I warn you, I have a lot of stamina.”

The sun is untouchable.

“I want to be in her skin. She’s glowing lately… I can’t take it. When it’s cloudy, she’s the sun. And when it’s sunny, she’s the extra sun. I miss her.” I ignored his whining.

Interesting Take On A Vampire Story!

I enjoyed this take on a vampire story. The book draws you in from the very beginning, giving the reader a glimpse of what a world would be like if humans were actual "livestock" to be cultivated for consumption. There were a couple of grammatical errors which really surprised me for this author, but it did not stop or hinder the flow of the book, I would still recommend it, the story is worth the read. Well Done Feara!!

Things I enjoyed about this book? The cover, the title, the concept. Unfortunately, the execution missed in every way. The dialog was painful. Maya/Haebit did nothing but cry. Haesun acted like a toddler throwing a hissy fit 95% of the time. I’m doing an alphabet title reading challenge, and I wanted the “v,” and that is truly the only reason I made it to the end. I wanted to DNF 33% in, and clearly I should have.
