After winning the Beijing International Martial Arts Championship, Janae receives devastating news—she’s been diagnosed with stage four cancer. On the day she takes her final breath, fate intervenes. Janae awakens in an alternate world resembling ancient China, a realm where survival depends on one’s ability to fight.
Accused of assassinating the former emperor, she is captured and imprisoned. But her unmatched combat skills and mysterious foreign origins catch the attention of a powerful general—who also happens to be the crown prince. Forced into an uneasy alliance, Janae must help him uncover the truth behind his father’s murder and the shadowy assassin targeting him, all while they search for the lost heir to the throne.
When their quest for the rightful successor fails, the prince faces only one path to to be accepted by the kingdom’s wary allies. But betrayal runs deep, and the assassin’s unseen hand tests his resolve—and Janae’s loyalty—in ways neither could have foreseen.

This was a great read! I found myself getting attached to the characters as the story went on. The writing is initially rudimentary, but it does improve a bit as you get further. Even though I guessed some of the plot lines correctly, I was still surprised by some of the twists and felt the important plot beats were executed well. In a book like this, it’s easy for the ending to feel rushed but I think this was well paced. Overall, this novel sparked my imagination and is inspiring me to write my own isekai’d to an ancient kingdom book. Nice job and looking forward to seeing more works and growth from this author!
Overall, I had fun with this one. A martial artist dying from cancer is transported to another world where war and death are normal. She goes on quite the journey.
This was an entertaining read. I liked both the MCs although Janae was a little too bratty/childish for my liking, but I guess that’s supposed to be due to her sheltered upbringing.
I pretty much guessed the exact people behind the assassination attempts, they were pretty shady from the beginning.
Feara put together a period story of war..betrayal.. pain..death and hope embedded in past trauma and future promises. What I enjoyed is the way she brought Janae's story to life with pain and humor.. She blended both Haoyu and Janae circumstances of time travel.. especially as a black female into Ancient China. I enjoyed the playful banter between her and the Prince's closest and trusted soldiers.. the intense interaction between the main characters and Janae relentless pursuit of the Prince ..making him see himself through her eyes...💖
This author has an excellent way of telling a story that is intriguing and keeps you enthralled. Choices. Choices we make in our past can sometimes effect our future. But, what if you had a choice to go into a promising future or into the promising past? Which choice would you make? Well Done Ms. Feara!!!!
This double feature you put out is immaculate! I’m upset that it’s over. I absolutely loved this one, like all the others. I have to say you might’ve usurped the title of my favorite author! Keep it up, but also let’s HURRY it up. Jk, jk.
